With that apartment building in the vacant lot…I got the same old story from someone in village government. “They couldn’t get their funding.” Oddly, I think the developers were supposed to be that same mysterious group turning the old St. Ambrose School into apartments.
It will never be the same as it was in the day. Too many drugs around the avenue. Run down stores and apt's. Nothing but a few places that have no importance. People are leaving the area. Not moving in. Many neighbor hoods run down. Glad many of us left when we did. There's no more money.
On the hole, the general area is still a decent place to live… There’s definitely issues like high property taxes which lead to run down buildings, etc. because people can’t afford to maintain them. Also, there’s a definite shortage of decent housing in the area now due.
