Memories of my childhood ☺️!
This dish and others like it got my family through many years. I can’t remember a time when she made Swiss steak and everyone didn’t clean their plates completely. Honestly might be my favorite dish out of all the exotic, upper scale food I’ve ate. Can’t even compare to this.
I had actually forgotten about this recipe. We used to have it all the time when i was a kid. Thanks for the reminder.
I make swiss steak in my crock pot, but this version looks even better! Thanks!
yummy - the black burnt fond on the bottom of the pan is surely going to make this taste wonderfully!
Looks _GREAT!_ 😊👍😋 What would you serve with this in terms of vegetables, and potatos or rice?
One of my top 10. Thank you
I wld add some red wine to that
Looks delicious. Comfort food!
Ummm... just cooked this, served it, and we licked the plates clean. Nothing short of delicious. Kudos.
Great to hear!
Made this tonight. So delicious. Thanks guys. Subscribed!
This is my new favorite food. Apparently It was my great grandfather's favorite and my grandmother used to make it all the time.
I made recently and my uncle said it's just how he remembered.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing.
@@CertifiedAngusBeefTestKitchen I madr it again last night for my grandmother and uncle but unfortunately I had to take my son home to his mother. I hope there's some left over...
'Aromatics' I like that. It cracks me a lil bit to see Worcestershire sauce in classic Swiss recipe(well I was wrong here, came out swiss is not related to country but method of meat tenderising) great video !!!
Thanks for watching!
Was a delicious and cheap recipe...thanks so much
I caramelize more onions so more for the onions to totally melt. Brings out the umami flavor via a reaction called Maillard. For the rxn to complete, you need to take time to evaporate the water. Yeah, you can add baking soda to make the reaction faster or start the onion using microwave. It is totally up to you.
Thank you! Can't wait to make this. Many are on Keto nowadays and this is a good recipe for Keto! Also, now I know how my mom made this back in the day...I have her cast iron dutch oven now and utilize it.
Let us know how it goes!
i love swiss steak, i do a unique spin on mine, kinda make it mexican and asian style with seasoning the meat with soy sauce and steak seasoning, then i use cans of diced tomatoes with jalapenos, and a lil bit of cumin. it's delicious on mashed potatoes, for sure. 🥰😍💕💕
We will have to try that!
no flour coating to help the sear? also have you ever tried to deglaze with red wine before adding tomatoes or stock? great video :D cheers!
Could you substitute tomato sauce for the diced tomatoes?
Bit of culinary trivia: "Swiss steak" isn't Swiss. The name is a corruption of "swissed steak," where "swissing" is the process of tenderizing meat by running it through a roller tenderizer or by pounding the meat with a spiked mallet.
Thanks for sharing
Well, good to know thanks
Well ok, but nobody better say German chocolate cake wasn’t born in the fatherland 😂(joking of course)
Thanks for that bit of knowledge. I’ve been a waitress forever and just now learned that.
Could you add more beef broth and after it cooks in the oven, could a slurry be used and make a gravy?
You could make a different gravy if you'd like.
Cant find the recipe list
i used to buy cubed steak for this but anymore i just use ground beef pattied I also used stewed tomatoes lol
That works too!
I get a chuck roast slice it and pound it out one of my roommates favorite things I make.
Just put mine in the oven. Let’s see 😅
Bro that fond is burned.
God this is boring
I need to find someone who adds decent ingredients to this
