I think minimalist, van life, tiny house ect, is a great experience to reset your values, and realize what is truly important but not a long term option for most people.
Welcome to Victoria Adelle. Been here 20 years now from Saskatchewan and I don't miss the winter, although I do go back to visit family when the weather is warmer. I used to live in a van for months at a time when I was entertaining across western US and Canada, and I've never regretted the experience. It takes a while to meet people here- so many try to make a life out here but not everyone stays- and close relationships take time. I commented on your video because I too found that the toughest part was being alone in the van. At the time I never considered that would be an issue, but the longer I went the more I missed the connection with people. Good luck in lotus land, we enjoy our latte's!

Subway tiles So you can ask for them, the tiles on the shower wall were called subway tiles. Old time subways used to have a lot of these all over the walls because they were durable and easy to care for. Recently they have become pretty popular and are a reasonable price usually (you can use the expensive ones as a border). They are also a mid level easy for the DIY crowd that wants to put them up yourself.
I watch a lot of channels about living minimal, bush craft, van life, tiny homes, prepper style, what have you; I've lived around the world (military brat,) Alaska was my favorite. I found your channel, and I got hooked. Thank you for be so brave, and jumping into living life feet first. Like Nike; Just Do It! Your videos are just what a person needs to have a real point of view; and not product placement. Ever since reality TV went bonkers, everything seem to be about pushing a product. I began living in an empty cargo van a year ago and for me personally the idea of being in a brick and mortar is the same as hell. I didn't know that before I began this journey. I'm a 7 time cancer survivor and I have 30 chronic conditions that make me go back to doctors every month. In between those doctor visit I go, all over the country for fun. My van is no longer empty hahaha. I have electricity and solar and enough plumbing for my use. I have never seen your videos until today but nice work dear. I hope you are always as happy and free as I am today. Bless you.
How could anyone thumbs down your post? I just found you, and thought you were terrific. You speak with great confidence. Many Canadians find themselves near Quartzsite , AZ in the winter. FYI That was a very austere cabin, about as minimalist as one could get.
Merlin Thanks! I loved that cabin in the Rockies. I got paid to live there too because I was working in forestry at the time. Later moved to a log house but it just wasn't the same quaint experience. Oh and some people are mad that I ended up in that cute hotel so they gave me a thumbs down, which makes me laugh. All interaction on my video helps! 😁 Thanks for watching

It is interesting you asked for the warmest place in Canada and you were told Victoria, yet this is the coldest winter and longest cold snap in years. I have been in Victoria for over 20 years and can not imagine living any where else. I am from the interior of British Columbia and do not miss the cold or snow. Enjoy your stay here, there is so much to see and do.
I have lived on the road and still kinda do. I'd rather have a small camp in the woods and live with nature then travel all the time. your one lucky lady to have gotten to try both. and I can not blame you for your decision! peace good luck and keep living your dream!

I grew up in Vic, it's a super pretty city. When I turned 18 I bought a sailboat and lived on anchor, off grid in a couple of the harbours around the city. They've really cracked down on those seeking an alternative lifestyle there. We used to get harassed by the navy pretty frequently. Sooke is beautiful too, the whole island is good. It's pretty laid back here as far as seeking alternative lifestyles, Vic is probably the least welcoming in that regard. I've hitch hiked up and down the island just for the sake of it, it's so easy and I've never had a bad ride. Cowichan Valley is awesome, the West Coast beaches are the best. You will love them if you can get a chance to drive out to them. Long Beach, French Beach, Sandcut Cove and Pacheena Bay even further up island. Have you considered doing the West Coast Trail? Island View Beach in the Sidney direction is very nice as well.

I am scared of the smallest bugs Ryan. Who is going to chase away the spiders, snakes etc, plus I don't want to live in the woods, I could easily do the van life but the woods no. And I meditate. that allow me to channel in to my needs, and future decisions without going to the extreme. Some need to do this some don't I am one that don't and will not do it. Why do i need to do this to feel free or to free my mind? I have a daughter and a husband...I can just yell at them to free my mind. lol that was a joke. Respecting my abilities would mean building a bathroom, storage room, just give me a hammer. i create.

I grew up in Seattle so when you Googled 'where's the warmest place in Canada, I knew immediately BC. Victoria is sooo beautiful. I recognized the Empress Hotel, also the Straight of Juan de Fuca. My husband and I along with other couples and sometimes just the two of us would pack a bag and start driving. But health reasons can overcome fun😟🚗. Love your videos. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying new lifestyles. Some people are comfortable with one way, some are not. People are organic, you know? There's no one way to live. If you have to, if you WANT to, change every month for all anyone cares. It's your life and you're not doing anything to harm anyone else. Love Is Flowing Don't know how it is over there, but here in Scotland we have 'bothies...' on the hills; wee huts with unlocked doors and very basic cooking facilities, mainly to provide shelter for walkers etc. Free to use...
i want to be consistent with my uploads and gain a great following and start to live a healthier lifestyle forever & after 2017. 2016 a lot of my family members got diabetes.

This is living, I thought I was crazy, one day I just wanted LESS. I was being swallowed by material items, traditionally set rules, mortgages, rent, jobs, programmed to social agendas, (thanks television ) didn't know where this spiritual wind blew in from, but wait, YES I DO, 1999 movie Enter the Matrix. Freedom from the system, yes the bug bit me and continues to. The ideology of Less is More day by day has infected me. What would you do with your life if you could do whatever you wanted to and not have to WORRY ABOUT MONEY? Your life has an expiration date, and some ppl would have you be subservient to them for their own selfish needs, so you were meant to enjoy it, not suffer thru it because it will come to an end.
There are definitely pro's & Con's. It's very interesting go against the status Quo. I agree with trying to live a minimalist lifestyle can be a little hectic I think. However the Life God has given us enables our creative powers to "create" the lifestyle we desired the most. stay bless.

Wow, that residence hotel looks awesome. I love hotel living & seek out condo or apartment buildings that are similar to hotels. What are the total costs associated with living in a residence hotel? Aside from not having a lease, how does it differ from apartment living?
John Basedow Its really about the convenience. Its about $900 a week or $3000 a month and included use of building facilities, parking and twice weekly housekeeping! $600 refundable damage deposit. I got a forestry degree and worked for the government. But you can also become a wildland firefighter without a degree if you can pass the physical test and interviews. The other cabins you saw there were for the firefighters. They helped me chop a lot of wood for that woodstove lol. Best of luck :)

Victoria is the most expensive area on the Island that's why I'm up in Campbell River.

This is living, I thought I was crazy, one day I just wanted LESS. I was being swallowed by material items, traditionally set rules, mortgages, rent, jobs, programmed to social agendas, (thanks television ) didn't know where this spiritual wind blew in from, but wait, YES I DO, 1999 movie Enter the Matrix. Freedom from the system, yes the bug bit me and continues to. The ideology of Less is More day by day has infected me. What would you do with your life if you could do whatever you wanted to and not have to WORRY ABOUT MONEY? Your life has an expiration date, and some ppl would have you be subservient to them for their own selfish needs, so you were meant to enjoy it, not suffer thru it because it will come to an end.
There are definitely pro's & Con's. It's very interesting go against the status Quo. I agree with trying to live a minimalist lifestyle can be a little hectic I think. However the Life God has given us enables our creative powers to "create" the lifestyle we desired the most. stay bless.

Wow, that residence hotel looks awesome. I love hotel living & seek out condo or apartment buildings that are similar to hotels. What are the total costs associated with living in a residence hotel? Aside from not having a lease, how does it differ from apartment living?
John Basedow Its really about the convenience. Its about $900 a week or $3000 a month and included use of building facilities, parking and twice weekly housekeeping! $600 refundable damage deposit. I loved the experience. I will do this again, next time at my fave hotel in Vegas 😎 Thanks for watching John, congrats on... 33 million views and counting! 😱

Regarding the residence hotel, it's pretty expensive...around the same a high end 1 BR apartment in major cities. How long did you end up staying there?

Adelle-- how/what division does one volunteer for to be able to live in that awesome cabin?
I got a forestry degree and worked for the government. But you can also become a wildland firefighter without a degree if you can pass the physical test and interviews. The other cabins you saw there were for the firefighters. They helped me chop a lot of wood for that woodstove lol. Best of luck :)
