It was a great game between two expert players albeit the misflip. But these two guys placed 5th and 7th at the last World Othello Championship in 2019. Of course, anyone who might think they are better should join their local tournament to qualify to the next World Championship to challenge :)

If you are like the others who commented that the level of the game was low, and that the black pieces should take the corner. You don't understand enough of the game to judge. The game was excellent, with very few errors.
If Black took the corner at any point in the game, it would be an extremely easy victory for White. When you can see that, then you can think about starting to judge the players.

@@jakemariano6862 I know it, if black would have taken the upper right corner, white would then definitely place a stone one grid left to it, black then wouldn't have a chance to save the upper -left corner as he couldn't place a stone there, white would then take the upper left corner, which would then allow him to take the bottom left corner. So basically that's a very wrong move to make, it's basically helping his opponent to win.

Why is it that they don’t use an electronic version in tournaments to avoid mistakes or cheats? I’ve seen how the cheating player use the forefinger and thumb to make a move while using the middle finger is used to make illegal move, and what if a piece is overlooked and if no body catches the cheater, the game should not continue, but the electronic version cannot allow any cheats or mistakes to happen, and it is most courteous and professional of the tournament host to save labor for the players. In the same way in golf, some of the labor is done by the assistant, or in tennis, the balls are collected by the labor assistant who brings ball to the player, but I am sure Japan is capable of making an actual board that allows black or white pieces pop up and seem magically emerge from underneath the green board, or have Green LED become black or white when player touches the square he wants to play, And why are there voices of people, voice of children and even other unwanted voices of people very close to microphone, someone breathing into the microphone, coughing sounds, that’s most unprofessional in a professional tournament, and then they count the pieces, as if this is 1969 when they were able to send audio and video from the moon, faster than the speed of light, why can we have an electronic board game for Othello tournaments?

if black take the top right corner, it equals to resign the match
      because,
1)black lose the two corners with whole edges
2)top left corner is a [dead or alive even void](斜角雙數洞,是生死洞來)that if white players take the corner ,white players can gain an additional move(single void,餘裕手) and control the movement of the game.
Therefore:black not only lose about at least two corners(14 pieces of steady chess )to white, but also give a free pass and another chess to white.

Why is it that to this day, Othello championships is played on the old 1977 manual board with sounds of people talking and sociopathic children misbehaving, people sometimes talking loud, sometimes whispering or coughing in the microphone, while players are trying to concentrate, So disrespectful of people not kept quiet or even try to, why people seemingly la e no empathy with total lack of respect for audience worldwide, while any of the players could potentially make honest or not so honest mistakes, and what if the innocent player can’t catch he mistake made by the guilty party, what if the guilty party made accusations that the innocent opponent cheated, like Donald Trump made the same bogus accusations, why is it that electronic game board isn’t used for tournaments to eliminate possibilities for mistakes or cheats? It is very helpful to save lots of time and avoid mental blocks, save trouble of mistakes, and it could be a marketing opportunity also, if they could make a board identical to the classic manual game board, with green LEDs become black or white as player touches the square he wants to play, then computer would change the colors, record the timer’s time as much as the game in perfect replay and review for learning, able to download entire games from world Tournaments, with ability to play in middle of the game to see what if a different move could be made for better end game, right now getting annoyed and distracted by the sounds of women and children, who are these people who are totally lacking empathy for even the viewers, but especially for players if in the tournament, it would be harsh experience for the players, so why can’t they make a decent electronic game board, if in 1969 they could send analog audio and video from the moon, without any distortion or loss of quality, through the violent and destructive nature of the Van Allen Belts and faster than the speed of light ⚡️

      A few key difference.
Starting position: Reversi does not have a starting position. You can start however you want. Othello on the other hand has a start position, being that the position are in the middle in checkered.
Another one is that Othello rules being unable to move. If a opponent can't move, their move will be skipped, and the player can move again. This does not exist in Reversi. Reversi, the game just ends, with the opponent lost.
The colour are also different, with Reversi being any colour you want, but Othello is black and white, hence the modern version we see nowadays.
A little fun fact: When the Othello was first made, they creator does not even know the existence of Reversi. Now, since Othello is a trademarked name, board game manufacturers can't use the name Othello, so most just use reversi
