39:45 Daito speaking Japanese
"Ahh he's a Korean" had me dying☠☠☠☠
Speaking Japanese, wearing a samurai armor, Japanese sounding name, sweet little Japanese accent, I’m speechless 😂
I loved the reaction to the first Easter Egg scene. Idk why but it just shows that something so small as a moment like that can really give you goosebumps
I teared up a little, I dunno why. That scene is so powerful for some reason.
This movie / book was a love story to the 1980s era. I grew up in this era thus the movie is special to me. So many great pop culture references. Not sure why and I cannot even describe the reason behind it but the end scene in Halliday's house always hits me in the feels.
I think Halliday is autistic, people didn't really understand it back in the '80s so the ending is a great love letter to people with ASD.
Filmmakers like Spielberg are in a very short supply nowadays
No, filmmakers like Spielberg who consistently make great films in every genre are in very short supply nowadays.
No there are plenty more Spielberg out there. That will never get the opportunity or budget.
I know right too bad the other guys don’t just do it for fun now even though they’re filthy rich
You can thank the holocaust for that.
Filmmakers that care about story and character development like Spielberg are in short supply nowadays. And what’s worse: Hollywood has embraced mediocracy over creating good content that continues to find an audience after the initial film’s run.
I knew Viki would love "Ready Player One" but I didn't expect Lia to love it so much. ------ And of course you girls picked up on the life lesson and heartfelt story behind the main theme of the movie. ------ So amazing to see you girls light up to one of my favorite movies.
Next you girls should watch, "Minority Report".
The "heartfelt story" was awful, just awful.
There are many hidden movie references in this movie so you may want to check them out. You already saw the Shining so that's good. But did you know that the secret chant to activate the Orb of Osuvox is from the 1981 movie 'Excalibur' - a classic movie (with a great cast) based on the legend of King Arthur, and the orb chant is the necromancer's charm of making from the movie.
Book had a lot more, the first time he logs he uses as password a quote from The Last Starfighter, Artemis keeps referencing Highlander and H keeps mocking wayne about Ladyhawk being canon or not among movies collected by the guy who set the contest.
Loved this one! Your eyes were literally shining, both of you, through the whole movie. FUN!! Well done, Ladies! Thank you. 😊
Only 15 mins in but its funny. You aren't getting the 80's references and the ships and costumes but you are getting the essence of the film. Good job!!
If you are into reading, the book of Ready Player One is really good!
I’d say it’s even better than the film.
@@SeanTube2099 As far as story, character and nostalgia go the book is definitely better. The film does an excellent job of presenting a similar story with lots of popcorn visuals but I think it's mainly the loss of the character development that lets it down. For those that don't know, the book has very different key/puzzle scenarios (far more involved) and several more sequences that give real depth to the OASIS and the 'real world' along with more fleshed out characters for all involved.
@@manticore5733 totally agree with your summary. I think I would have loved the film if I hadn’t read the book, as the film encompassed so much of what I enjoy (Sci-Fi, computers, 80s film and games culture). It’s so rare I read the book before seeing the film, but so many people had recommended it to me.
The young girl you saw in the school that you recognized is Mckenna Grace. She was in the movies "Ghostbustes-Afterlife" and "Gifted" with Chris Evans.
There is a second book, called (aptly) "Ready Player Two", but not sure if they will make it into a movie like they did this. I do highly recommend reading the book though (both the first and secon one).
Great reaction, how you guys always get into it and recognized some of the easter eggs and how there were so many references to other movies shows, comics, etc as well. This is a very overlooked movie that not many reactors react to, so I am glad you did!
Fun Fact: Steven Spielberg was shooting RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in the same studio facility that Stanley Kubrick was shooting THE SHINING. This was where Spielberg and Kubrick established a friendship that lasted for decades. To the point where Spielberg took over one of Kubrick's most cherished projects A.I.: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
It amazes me that this movie was ever made given the sheer mountain of material it draws from be it story's to movie / anime characters and hell I am glad Spielberg had the power to make it
They had to chop it down & re-write it (big time!), because some copyright holders refused to give permissions! And there's also the consideration that if they tried to stick with the book, even semi-closely ... they would've had to add *at least* another hour to it! Maybe one-quarter of the movie actually follows the book.
Heck, the 'Fortress Of Solitude' asteroid in the book is *awesome!* I would've *loved* to see an *accurate* rendition of it in the movie!
Steven Spielberg was actually a Doctor Who fan since the 1970s. He did express interest in directing a Doctor Who movie back in The 1990s
Did viki just call the Japanese guy Korean when the subtitles said Japanese?🤔😂😂
It was clear to see how much you both loved this movie. This was such a fun and entertaining reaction and I loved every second of it.
Amazing as always. Thank You Lia & Viki.
It's a very sweet movie. For some reason, it always gets me when he says "Thanks for playing my game." Like for everyone else it was this important economic resource, but for Halliday it was just a thing he made that he wanted to share with everyone.
this movie is a beautiful reminder, that real life is worth it. virtual reality is cool, but... don't let it consume you ;)
Ready Player One’s my all time favorite book! I was dying to see you ladies react to the movie! This is like a Christmas present from you Homies! Happy Holidays!
As a big Gundam fan this is perhaps one of only 3 American films I can think of that has referenced Mobile Suit Gundam, which is pretty much Japan's Star Wars. The other two films are "Enemy of the State" staring Will Smith and "One Hour Photo" staring Robin Williams. References being, the toy store bag that Will Smith caries has a Gundam Parody mech on the bag made to look similar but different enough not to infringe on copyright, ie snuck into the film. Robin Williams you get to see a MS-06R-2 Johnny Ridden Custom Zaku II Highmobility Type Model Kit which is from a Gundam Manga series, Williams even comments on it, you also get to see an Evangelion Figurine, Williams chose to put those in the film because he was an anime mech fan apparently. So he wasn't just a gamer but also an anime fan, and honestly he had good taste personally.
Cheech and Chong up in smoke a 70s comedy is a pure classic of its time.
The lady who was with the Sixers is also Ghost from Ant-Man And The Wasp Hannah John-Kamen
*Speaks Japanese*
"Oh, he's korean."
IT HURTS.
Yes that is Olivia Cooke aka Queen Alicent Hightower from House of the Dragon!
In the background of the garage scene there is the Redbird from Cowboy BeBop, a Colonial Viper from Battlestar Galactica, Falcon 5 from Spaceballs and A Tardis from Dr. Who
The old school who played video games and watched 80s and 90s movies will know each of the characters seen in the movie, some new age guys will know too.
Love this reaction. You both are great. Thank you and happy holidays 💕
Spielberg filmed part of this in my city, Birmingham UK, the market scene and car chase scene near the end, those streets are Digbeth. I knew multiple people who were hired as extras in this and even saw the truck parked up outside a warehouse
In the final Battle scene there were 418 different machine characters. Like starwars, chuny and alot.of others
People do love the "eggs" and other hidden things in games. Some can be stumbled upon just in regular play. Others...I don't know how in the blistered hell people find them at all. lol
Them: "it's easy....just stand in a very specific area on a big ass map and do 2 perfectly timed jumps while facing in a specific direction onto something you shouldn't be able to jump on to find yourself outside of the map boundary. Now face a new specific direction and run in a specific zig zag pattern for 2 minutes over terrain that only halfway renders and you can find a weapon and a secret message from the developers.....after standing on your head while eating peanut butter and farting the Star Spangled Banner IRL for 6 days straight while the game is paused obviously."
Me: " Yeah buddy, I don't know how in the blue hell I could have possibly missed that one!!!
FFS!
Bitch, you lost me at "it's easy" so just post a damned video or 243 individual screen shots in chronological order or something."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Drink every time Viki says "I got goosebumps"
I like how VRChat pretty much created this universe very shortly after this film was a Reality. So ironically the film was off by a few years.
There are so many references to different movies and video games.
Love this movie. You girls should react The Iron Giant (1999) since this character was featured in Ready Player One.
As much as I love the movie, I would HIGHLY recommend the book. The author worked with Spielberg to take the same story but cram it into a 2 hour movie. The book is a lot more complex with different events leading to the keys, as well as a lot more to the main characters' relationship. I'm glad that someone could bring all these copyrights together on the screen. If you like the movie, though, grab the book!
This was a fun one. 😏
There were so many Easter eggs in there! One of my personal favorites is when The Iron Giant falls into the lava he holds his hand up and makes a thumbs up sign just like the Terminator did in Terminator 2.
My suggestion after this one is reacting to Free Guy. Different approach to a movie about the gamer world.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Movie is a Hidden Gem..And well is Nerd Heaven..Cuz it has Comic, Game and Anime..All MIXED IN!!
So many pop culture references in this!
Lia looks soo amazing! I hope she has a wonderful Christmas 🎉
It will take years to have a virtual reality as good as in this movie
39:47 Lmao if a Japanese person hear that they will be furious
Ben Mendelson's avatar looks exactly like Till Lindemann from Rammstein.
Simon Pegg, a British actor: [in British accent] BRITISH ACCENT
Simon Pegg, a British actor: [in normal voice] AMERICAN ACCENT
They're surprised that people make friends through games and whatnot? That's crazy
Tomorrow 22 is my birthday, i watch every single reaction, please girls give a chance for these 3 movies, The blind side (2009), Somehere in time (1980) and The intouchables (2011), powerful and emotional movies, two of them is based on a true history, please i love you homies. Hugs from Brazil ❤️🇧🇷 you Will not regret.

Tomorrowland (2015-IMDb 6,4)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001-IMDb 7,2)
Mr. Nobody (2009- IMDB 7.8)
Cloud Atlas (2012 - 2.52 Hours - IMDb 7,5)
I am glad you two enjoyed this movie!!!!!! It is such a fantastic film!!!!!
I GOT GOOSEBUMPS!
You both look mesmerizing as always and I enjoy all the reactions you both do.
I’m reasonably sure that a year or so ago many of these pop culture references would have slipped by Vicki and Lia but in that time they reacted to several of the movies (The Shining in particular) referenced here. Doubtful there will be a sequel to this as it was quite expensive to make and it kind of underperformed at the box office. Not that it did badly but it definitely didn’t do as well as they hoped it would.
This is why I ignore critics until after seeing the movie or played the game for myself.
Sure, if I had taken their suggestions I could have been spared some horrifically bad crap sometimes but, that's far outweighed by the great (to me) stuff I would have missed.
« What is adventure ? » may I beg for your pardon ma’am but what the bloody hell ? 👀
this movie's a guilty pleasure of mine. if i dont think too hard about the main protags its super fun xD
needed more H
YAY A VIKI AND LIA REACTION!
Hello friends 😁👋 I recommend you watch the 1988 Mexican film rojo amanecer (red Dawn) with your friends. The film is based on real events and is about when in 1968 the government punished and killed university students who were demonstrating against the government, as well many protesters who were not students died, the film is made from the perspective of one of the families of the university students and how they experienced the tragic events, greetings .
Hey The Homies, if you are interested, there are some videos that tell you what easter eggs were in this movie.
if Viki didn't watch the Lord Of The Rings, i can't wait to see her reaction
You guys are all awesome! Tysm!
Had a friend from your neighboring Romania that used to visit every year and smuggle out Tuicâ to drink.. have y'all ever had it? made from plums I think
As always, Lia looks amaze!
And that Girls Motorcycle from AKIRA(greatest Anime Movie Ever)
As soon as I saw the trailer for this I ran out and got the book. Loved the book, waited months for the movie to come and saw it opening day. Loved the movie but the book is still better.
Fortress Of Solitude asteroid!❗
Starting from Halo reach to war thunder cuz there's two tanks the first tank in there is a Panzer 1 and the second tank will be a Italian Stug iii and of course the legendary RX-78-2 Gundam.
Viki English has gotten so much better compared for when she first started!
I still haven't mastered it after being on this rock trying to speak it for over 40 years
🤣🤣🤣
Lia and Viki should react to "Apollo 13" (1995).
It is not a game, it is a virtual reality.
Subtitle: *SPEAK JAPANESE*
"ah, he's a Korean" 🗿
Mortal Engines and Alita: Battle Angel are two other movies I bet you’d like. G’day from Australia 🇦🇺
I think big highlight of this film has to be the visual effects
Please consider reacting to "An Officer and a Gentleman". It's a great "forgotten" gem!
39:55 not Korean, Japanese...
of you have the time you should read the book....I loved reading it read through it three times before I saw the movie.
Read the book, its even better.
Great reaction you 2. Up next the 4 of you need to watch the actual film The Iron Giant. Such a great and underrated film.
A masterpiece tragically mishandled by the studio.
That was one of the first major things of impact 'Ain't It Cool News' did; they heaped praise on that movie and drew a lot of attention to it when the studio just dumped it.
Ghostbusters Afterlife Girl Mckenna Grace
Yall really need to watch" Alita Battle angel" it's simular to this. Very Kool very very kool
Very cool reaction; I think I enjoyed it more than what you were watching!
It's not a bad movie - pretty good really, but the book is *so* _much_ better! I know that partly it's because they couldn't get the necessary permissions to show/use some of the required material(s), due to licensing 'issues' ... which was *so* _stupid_ of the copyright-owners! They coulda just said "We want a half-percent of the movie's gross sales" ... they could've made a million or two (or more?), without having to actually do anything! *IDIOTS!* [And don't give me that whole 'we want to safeguard the material's use in appropriate and 'correct' ways' B.S.!]
But the whole final battle, and the way it worked out afterwards were way, *way* better in the book! But I think they were thinking that since a goodly chunk of the movie-goers probably would have a tough time following it all ... they decided they needed to simplify it!
They also compressed the time-span *a lot* and cut-out some cool sub-plots ... like, Parzival's 'Fortress Of Solitude' asteroid in the book was *awesome!*
All that stuff was why I didn't bother to go out and see the movie ... I'd heard about some of the major changes - and decided I wasn't that interested.
I read the book before seeing the film and the book was amazing. One of my all-time favourites. Unfortunately the film couldn’t live up to that.
This movies a gem
That kid play as Wade also played a younger version of Cyclops in X-Men Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix.
He was also good in a movie called Mud
BTW Daito is Japanese,not Korean.
I am writing this to help out Victoria and lia and this video and this channel with the algorithm ♥️✌️😘😀
"your life is there not here in the reality, this is quite creepy" - you are living a certain % of your life in and for youtube, you are one of the first who will spend more and more time in the metaverse ladies :D
Much Love Vikki and Lia
