- On Oct. 8, 1995, the USMNT pulled off a rare soccer feat. Facing Saudi Arabia in a year-end friendly, the USA fell behind 3-0 by the 29th minute, but used goals from Alexi Lalas, Joe-Max Moore, Tab Ramos and Roy Lassiter to complete an incredible 4-3 comeback win against the Green Falcons at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. It’s the only time the USMNT has overcome a 3-0 deficit to win a game.

The KSA team back then we're really strong and the USMNT did well to come back from behind and beat them.
This same Saudi squad beat Belgium at USA94 (at the same stadium) and Saeed Al Owairan (no. 10) also scored the best goalof the tournament. Saudi subsequently won the Asian Cup in 1996 and qualified to the 1997 Confederations Cup and the 1998 World Cup.
Interesting to see games where I never existed.

Arguably the two best players the US have ever produced, Christian Pulisic and Weston McKinney, weren't on the field. Pulisic, playing for Chelsea, is helping his team in a very big way qualify for the 2021 Champions League competition. McKinney's team, Schalke 04, is truly terrible and might eventually be relegated from the Bundesliga so why he didn't play is anyone's guess. The USMNT isn't terrible but they are marginal at best. After watching PL, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A, US futball is just kind of dull. The USWNT is honestly very good and exciting. The men's team should be better and I'm sure it will improve as the sport gains in popularity in the US. I hope so anyway.

Good analysis. It's possible USMNT team improves with good MLS league growth, but salaries in MLS aren't enough to entice top tier American athletes, who opt for baseball, basketball or football. FOLLOW THE MONEY! also explains why USA cant compete with China in Table Tennis...
Imagine did a comeback against team whose quality is below you.
That Saudi team was better than team USA, ranked higher than them and already beat them 3-0 in the 1992 Confederations Cup.
