MAY 8TH UPDATE: I just got a inside look into the new Final Cut Pro and Camera app update and wow I was WRONG! The keynote did not go into as much depth as they maybe should have to keep pros interested. Im not sure what I am allowed to say as of now but follow up video coming soon! Blackmagic camera app may have a fierce competitor after all.
it is going to compete with BlackMagic Cam for sure. The only thing missing from BlackMagic Cam is the ability to use the built-in flash (on the preview video, it seems Apple is going to allow us to use the built-in flash to fill in the scene) and also the iPhone's native stabilisation.
Main question is, do we have to subscribe and pay monthly to use the new camera app?
I just wish the black magic app didn't have a big delay when shooting at high stabilisation, and also Cinematic mode prores log would be cool
How can you download the apps? I couldn't find them in the App Store?

For drawing the apple pencil pro is gonna be the best thing... for me at least. The roll thing alone is massively important
so you gonna spend minimal $1300 to roll a pencil. đ

For me, the M4 makes sense and I have traded in my M1 iPad Pro 12.9. I will use the pencil I have and Magic Keyboard and go from there. It is the AI technology/neural processors and the Ray Tracing that is the big things for me. I would not have upgraded to the M3. Now waiting for the. M4 Mac Studio to finishing my upgrades. The trade-in makes it all a lot more palatable to the budget.
How much did you get for your M1? I am thinking about doing the same.
@@gdmoore I got my payments down to $65 a month. Considering I had a second hand M1 I got 3 years ago, I cannot argue. You pay for the convenience of no hassles and know up front. I would not have done it if I got it last year. However this is definitely a major leap forward and also it puts you on the new 2nd Gen 3nm fabrication process.
Unless you have the USB-C Apple Pencil you can't use your existing pencil with the M4 iPad Pro
@@chrisnelson2770 Yes - I am totally aware of that. The Pro Pencil has some great new features that make it a bargain, if you are a developer and use it to its full capability. .

Yes I agree - less thin but much more battery life would serve pro users
Apple has released that this "Camera allows users to adjust settings like white balance and manual focus, while monitoring their recordings with zebras and audio meters. Users can now also adjust ISO and shutter speed, and enable focus peaking" Also the photo shows prores options within the Multicam space. Questions are, is it bluetooth or does it need wifi? What's the distance? Does the phones record the ProRes on board and then proxies sent to the mix? You cannot have a stream to an iPad with full fat 422. Actually thinking of buying the iPad Pro just so I can take advantage of this. Speeds up workflows massively.
Isnât also the keyboard only compatible with the Ipad Pro 2024?
As far as the camera app, unless it is similar to the Blackmagic camera app, Iâll continue to use the BM app, Itâs about time FCP for the iPad has some features like editing from a drive as Resolve can do. With the iPad 13â, M4 and at least a 1 TB drive I wonder if Resolve will open up âofficiallyâ the other pages. I do know having a 1 or 2 TB drive gives you 16 gig VRAM. Fusion should work nicely I would suspect. I am; however, looking forward to see how FCP-2 will work on the iPad. BTW, I did buy, today, the 13â iPad with a 1 TB drive and the matte screen. I did spend the $$$ and got the keyboard. I did like my older 12.9â one. I did try others but always came back to the Magic Keyboard.

The nano textured glass you can only get when you buy the 1TB/2TB version. Also you only get 8GB ram and 3 P cores for models below 1TB, otherwise if you are willing to pay the premium you can get 16GB ram and un-binned m4 chip.
Sad thing also is the old Apple Pencil 2 isnât compatible to the new iPad pros

I really like Apple, since 2006, so it pains me when Apple continuously leaves us hanging. I have a 15PM and a 12PM so what's the compatibility? Most likely 15Pro's ... đ so for this to kick I'll need another ÂŁ4K's worth of shiny new iPhones ... BUT the alternative being a lot more expensive gear, I'm happy and can't wait for my new job!

I feel like all this manual editing stuff is kinda pointless,(maybe not for real artists) but the majority of people arenât artists, especially in today's AI-driven world. Why spend hours tweaking sound or drawings when AI can do it in seconds? Seems like a waste of time and money, you know? Take Final Cut Pro, for instance, it's kinda old school now. Apps like CapCut are way better and faster. Apple should really step up their game with AI tech.
