'Rez ball' has become so legendary, it has even inspired a new Netfilx series. And on Friday, it showed off its power during a high school basketball game in Phoenix
There's nothing like rez ball. The excitement. The environment. Supporting the youth. Community involvement. Tradition they call their own. Dedication; the guy in the pink beanie....it took me four rides to get here (means he hitched a ride). It's not crazy, it's native pride.
How do I know this because the average height of my high school basketball team was around 6.7or 6.8 feet and a team from Monument Valley took us out in the state tournament ‼️ all I know is the Navajo Nation can ball ‼️
It’s nothing new to us. I think Tuba and Alchesay still hold the record with 14,000+ I love cheering for all Native teams. Goodluck at state all teams!
@@blessedandtalented113 You may have the big gyms on the Az rez side but we count the trophies in NM!! Yay to the Kirtland Central girls for winning state title #21. Now those were Navajo girls who could actually win and play ball.
I don’t know if the numbers are quite rez level but growing up in the Wisconsin, the gyms would be packed for playoff games for both boys and girls. I was pretty shocked to see the lack of school spirit and community support at Phoenix area high schools.

I live in Albuquerque NM the Navajo Nation always travels good especially the Gallup Bengals girls basketball team
Great support for two fine programs. Good crowd who knew how to act while supporting their teams.

It's truly an embarrassment and shameful, that it needs to be asked if any boys were playing on the girl squad😟🙄😔
