RE: the two stages of click, many pinball machines have what are called "staged flippers", where you can push the button half way down to trigger the bottom flippers, and all the the way to trigger the top flippers. This lets you cradle balls on the bottom flippers while going crazy on the upper playfield during multiball. Crazy they included that!

It's kind of funny that I watched this last week and a few days later I found this exact same set complete and unused at a thrift store, instantly bought it of course.
Only differences I can see with the contents is that I had a 2nd install guide with the contents looking different, the disc wasn't in a jewel case but in a paper sleeve and to "stick" it on the keyboard there is an unused set of velcro stickers as well.

I only really used it for like... a week though, because my keyboard was too heavy/noisy to use the tilt things much (because it would make loud banging sounds on my desk), and I remember them coming off real easily too, so they felt really loose. It's a great idea for a peripheral though, it just was too awkward for me to use!

I never knew that the "3D space pinball" that came with a few of my computers was actually taken from a maxis game. I think it came with Windows me and maybe xp. The me I actually still have, its a Compaq. I'll have to boot it up and see what it has on it. Unfortunately, on my xp machine, the hard drive is all but dead, and I think I took it out to see if I could plug it in to my gaming PC, but I didn't realize that it wasn't comparable with the new SATA standard. It was a dell, so it also could just be some proprietary connection to make you stick with them...

The main reason Balls of Steel didn't work with this controller is because the game uses launcher, which is able to launch any 4 tables. Every table in this game has a file with ddp extension, which is kinda handled as a program on its own when started with the launcher, so you could map the binding for the ddp file instead of the launcher.
