It was dope how Kirk & Pat tried to lift him up. Like this comment when you get there!
Can you get enough info on former bengals player Jerome Simpson ? Very interesting kat and played college ball in my hometown.
That dude could ball
They really did and it seemed like he didn't know how to accept their praises
Mike White all day
Right they tried...he felt like he wasnt supposed to be there
Backup QB is like being the Vice President, one false move and now you’re the leader 😂
As a UW student during our 2016 playoff season, I was pleasantly surprised to find Browning make his way to Bengals. To see him making a serious impact, the same year my huskies made the playoffs again is just amazing.
He's doing thing bro! So glad we got him
Always admired Browning since that 2016 season at UDub...glad he's finally getting a shot in the NFL.
@@FlemLoRaps
That clip of Marcus definitely looks uncomfortable and out of place I'm also an introvert so I definitely feel you
Mahomes and Kirk look like they been there before
Purdy is another one who oozes confident and Tommy too looks like he's been playing for decades
Go back a few years ago Tim Couch looked out of place in every interview and I know that had to do where he went then the fans treated him badly even booing him after he got injured I really don't blame him
Wisconsin is the true UW
@@haroldhall1517you might be thinking of John Ross, the receiver.
"Remember, the greatest player ever....was a god damn backup"🔥🔥
Faaacts 😂
Manning wasn't a backup?
@@the7A7dude That boy started as a rookie
Bruh are ya’ll dumb he means Tom Brady? Bro started as a backup.
Do that Mariota deep dive for sure! He was one of my favorite growing up and id love to see a deep dive on his career and what happened to his confidence.
Bro never won that natty 😢😭😭😭
Watching him at Oregon I always thought he looked so poised and in control. All of that seemed to go put the door in the NFL. I hate when that happens to great college players when they hit the league.
@jqk369 I think he was too soon to the league. The NFL hadn't evolved into the motion wide zone rpo scheme we see now back then. Had mariota come in now, he'd be a playoff tier qb especially under someone like Reid or McDaniel or Shannahan.
@@jqk369I was more confident in him than Herbert. Yikes on me but still
After Marcus broke his leg he was never the same
Browning injured his shoulder the playoff year and didn’t look the same throughout college afterwards. I am glad to see him look confident and be able to put more into his throws again because he is a great dude that deserves a shot.
You are Right. If nothing else Jake just made himself a job in this league.
You stay killin the game brother. Good shit.
You marked Zach Wilson L but jets won our last game against Houston 30-6
Word 😂 I was gonna say JETS WON!
N they just got shut out by the Dolphins 30-0
I think this whole backup thing is why the niner faithful love Purdy so much. Because he’s not just playing like a future star and franchise quarterback….but he’s the literal epitome of the guy who’s supposed to make his moment in the sun for a game or two (if he even gets there), and then he’s stomped into obscurity.
But Brock is the polar opposite of that guy. He’s Uber confident, composed, and has the skills to boot. But what makes him so likable is the fact that even though he’s quiet and unassuming, he absolutely exudes an aura of self assurance and confidence. You can see that he knows that he belongs in the spotlight, even if he’s awkward as fuck in it hahHh
Love my boy Purdy no matter what anyone says about him. He does his job & he does it well. If he is able to win a SB for san fran, I bet people will start comparing him to Brady, 7th round draft pick that ended up changing a franchise
As a bucs fan I gotta say Fitzpatrick is my favorite backup quarterback. Sure he’s not the goat or anything but he made an otherwise painful season just that more entertaining with that swag, confidence, and love for the game he had.
You gonna want to revise that shi as of December 16 2023😂
My favorite backup was Tarvaris Jackson during Russel Wilson's early years. Dude just was so comfortable in the position and had a knack for OT coin tosses
RIP
As a Seattle sports fan, TJack was one of my personal favorite athletes. RIP 🙏🏽
minnesota legend t jack
He had “Presence”.
I loved the way he played the game, I was really hoping he'd be the starter long term in Minnesota. He had the arm strength, decent accuracy. He was mobile at a time in the NFL when the only real mobile QB was Vick.
I love your breakdown of the different "types" of backup QBs. My favorite are the Taylor Heinickie types that don't have a lot of pure talent but always play their heart out
EJ Manual
Favorite Backup Quarterback is also my favorite ever: Steve Young!
For reals man, we 49er fans were pretty spoiled back then. Joe Montana with "some dude" named Steve Young as backup. Later on Packers had Favre and Rodgers as backup.
@@Warmaker01
My favorite QB of all time Steve Young
And Lamar Jackson's idol
Don Stroud Earl Morrell
Jake Browning was a good QB in college. This doesn’t surprise me that he’s doing well, I’m rooting for him.
jon kitna was tough as a back up
Gardner Minshew , we haven’t had a QB like Minshew since Brunell and that 1 year of David Garard (can’t spell they last names I’m sorry) and when we tanked and let Minshew go I was sad 😞 but I’m happy for Trevor and Minshew
I still remember back in the day the NYG starter Phil Simms went down and Jeff Hostettler took over the reigns as starter, led the Giants to a championship win over the Bills. According to wikipedia "Hos" was a NYG backup QB for 7 years.
Nick Foles saving the Eagles that one season. Not only that, beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Damn right that Tom Brady got his break when Drew Bledsoe went down. Bledsoe was a good QB, but he lost the job.
It's happened numerous times. There's also the tradition of the starting QB being wary about his job security. All it takes is one injury and that's it. In 2012 49ers QB Alex Smith was doing extremely well. He was one of the leading QBs that season. Late in the season he got a concussion and Kaepernick started. Smith never played a 49er game ever since despite doing nothing wrong, and his prior play that season before the concussion was doing spectacular. Being a 49er fan I still remember the stories of Joe Montana being wary about his backup QB, Steve Young.
Of course it's a lot easier for a backup QB to look good if he is on a talented and well-coached team.
That Marcus Mariota video would be dope
Hands Down Flemo this is one of my favorite videos ever on this channel & I've been watching since 2018. The storytelling along with the clarity was phenomenal, 3 separate careers broken down in 20 minutes was dope! P.S. the ending made me smile too! Keep up the great work Flemo 💪.
I was a student at Uw during that 2016 run. Browning, Gaskin. Peterson and company brought us back to the glory days. And I’m forever grateful for that. So I’ll always root for him and hope he continues to have success with the bengals. Go dawgs!
That thumbnail with the Italian fingers is clsssic😂😂😂😂
A truly undermined position from remember Frank Reich and that epic comeback for the bills while Jim Kelly was out my guy Nick Foles won a sb over TB12 respect the backups luv the vid Flem
Kurt Warner was a backup the year the rams won the Super Bowl
Mannn that last line gave me chills, love the vids bro keep it up🙌🏽
Taysom hill is dope! Especially after everything that happened to him in college. Gotta be a serious athlete to play all the positions he does.
Shout out to the best Giants backup of all time.....Jeff Hostetler, who played special teams and wideout in effort to get on the field and then, in 1990, beat the Bears, dynastic 49ers team, and then the Bills in the Super Bowl. Made some good money after that. True Legend.
every week your videos are like poetry in motion🙏🏾
Glad you did this video
Matt Flynn definitely my favorite. Not just for his performance against Detroit in 2011, but he kept our playoff hopes alive while Rodgers was hurt in 2013, and I don’t think that Rodgers moment against the Bears happens if not for Flynn keepin us afloat.
Your videos are always ON POINT.
This was low-key one of your best videos bro.
On point 🎯 great insight, subbed 👍🏾
Been watching u since 2017 and this is one of your best video analyses I can remember. FlemLo keeps somehow making better content. Hard work pays off, cheers.
Great commentary work!
Never seen one of your videos - This was great and done very well! Great job and good stuff to ponder on. Thanks!
“Because the coach wanted to see Nathan Peterman throw pics” is the best quote for modern football EVER 🤣🤣🤣
Another stellar video
Always enjoy your videos. Very thoughtful and that ending tho!
You nailed that ending! Been watching your vids for years and I love your presentation and takes. 💯💪🏾
Been watching you for years man one of the best football CZcamsrs on this app great video
Merry Christmas to you and yours Flem!
That ending line and the way you set it up is already iconic my dude.
Just found this channel and been binge watching these vids. They put together super well n love the narration, storytelling, grit n swag my boy brings to the table
16:34 Zach Wilson destroyed the Texans, he didn’t lose.
That game shocked I hope Zach gets out of NY and get a fresh start
U 100% right. Just double checked and I looked at the Falcons game from the previous week...and he didn't even play that game 🤦🏿♂️.
Fortunately the point stands...it doesn't change the assesment.assessment.
My b though.. ..damn bro
@@FlemLoRapsnah all good bro this video was fire 🔥
Long time no, see enjoying your video, very informative and entertaining.
Great video!! I've never seen the Flacco style backup labeled before. Would love a vid on Marriota's confidence in interviews over the years 💪
FlemLo back with another classic 🔥🔥🔥
Such beauty in your writing.
the way you concluded this video was masterful in a simplistic way.
Well done. 👍🏽
Another thought provoking video. You even mentioned two of my favorite backups; Charlie Batch and Chase Daniels 🤛
The ultimate back up NFL QB wasn't mentioned. Brock Purdy! Video on him would be awesome content!
Yo flem I've been following for a lil min I appreciate your non bias and bluntness when it comes to the game we love I respect your grid keep doing ya thing homie it's hard to listen to people that never played the game
It's almost like a 10 year cycle of the NFL changing rules to favor entertaining offenses, only for defenses to finally catch up forces situations like backups being literally and culturally relevant.
Hey flemlo i love everything you put bro. I been fan since the rutgers dynasty! I wish nothing but success brother! You be sittin across the desk from skip one day!
That there ending was 🔥 another hit my guy 💪🏾
Been watching you since ncaa rtg videos and seeing you almost hit 1mill subs is actually the most dope thing I’ve seen today keep it going brother ❤
I appreciate you talking about Tyrod. He’s a godamn legend in VA and probably my all time favorite college player. He has had the worst luck and has just kept getting back up and getting back to work. He’s carved out a nice career for himself.
That was a good take you did with the 3 QB’s and you seen exactly what you said about Marcus. That was a fire clip and take
Matt Moore gotta be one of my favorites as a Dolphins fan
You are the gold standard of sports reporting and documentaries.
Keep doing ya thing Flemo! You were the first content creator to get me into youtube.
Love the Bible reference too! Ecclesiasticus 1/9
Who Dey! Been waiting for you to drop something on our team.
I was just talking to my son about how it would be so great to see you do a story on Jake. This is one I’ve been wanting. Thanks and Who Dey!
Love your stuff brother. I just re-subbed after stepping away from sports content for a year or so. Your stuff is only eclipsed by the ESPN 30 for 30 docs. Keep up the good work.
flemlo with the banger once again🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Flem! You’re the man buddy I’ve been watching your videos since I was playing ball in high school.
Now I listen to your videos while I work. Im doing trim work in a house up in the Appalachian mountains on a brisk sunny day and I can’t help but look out the window and feel like this day matches your vibes. Bright but chill!
Great video
8:24 all the way up to “Washington” is melodic. My boy rapping the story. 💪🏽
Growing up, Doug Flutie really stood out and made a name for himself, and was a human interest story raising awareness for autism because of his son.
Another backup I was a fan of was Dave Brown, who grew up in my hometown! Apparently he is still in Westfield, NJ doing some coaching and financial work!
That was AWESOME, Flem!!!
BALLIN!!!!!!
Tyler Huntley is my favorite backup. He’s gonna be a free agent this upcoming offseason so I hope he gets the bag fr. My ravens just signed Malik Cunningham who’s potentially his successor so…watch out for him 👀.
I have a feeling, if Malik Willis gets cut that he’s definitely going to the ravens or eagles
Huntley is 🗑
Been really impressed with Browning man, great video Flem. I do feel for guys like Tyrod especially tho the backup life can definitely be difficult in some aspects.
I'm glad you mentioned Chase Daniel. His whole career was being a backup.
Excellent!! 👍👌
Loved Charlie batch. So reliable
I agree. That was fun.
The Daniel jones insert took me out 😂😂
Uncle Rico was the Jags starter before TLaw for a full season no injury put respect on the man
The Ending was dope 😂😂😂
Fun fact: Bengals starting Offensive Lineman RT Jonah Williams and Jake Browning were high school teammates!
Chad henne backup legend in KC. Stepped up huge
Fitzmagic and Minshew are legends. Minshew especially is a perfect back: totally ready to be the best teammate he can be and gas everyone up (including the rookie he was supposed to be mentoring and backing up), but also ready to play if his number is called.
I was waiting for the Tom Brady reference and dammit man you delivered 😂😂😂 love the content keep it up 🤝🏿🤝🏿
Great analysis. I'm reminded of Earl Morrow and Bob Griese during the 1972 Dolphin season....I know, that was a long time ago....
we really need a deep dive of ryan fitzpatrick's career. he made a lengthy career out of being this type of qb
The QB room in Detroit right now is pretty interesting:
Goff (long term starter?)
Bridewater (vet backup/leadership)
Hooker (mid-round pick, injury)
Blough (P-Squad, year 4, undrafted).
That last line got me thinking about what Brock Purdy is doing in San Fran too. He was the back up but now he’s been lighting it up for the last year
This right here
Is Flemlos best video
Back when Browning was on the Vikings for a few years it was kind of a given that he was going to be the best player in the pre-season every year. When anyone was asked who looked good the commentator would always say "Browning of course" and then name a few other guys. That is how it was because he always flashed when he was out there.
Flemish you a legend fr
That last line was cold. Damn.
dope flemlo thanks
Great analysis, man. With so many 2nd stringers starting in the NFL, if Browning gets the Bengals to the playoffs he'll be starting for another squad next year.
I no joke started Washington as a kid in 2015. Jake browning will forever be my favorite quarterback
The question the media ask some times is wild. beating around the bush is more frustrating than just asking what you want to
Thank GOD for making this video!! I've been saying it for almost 10 years now....NFL teams are going to have to go to a 2 quarterback system, where we see both QB's in action during the season. This year has proven that.
Dope shirt Flem
As far as one of my favorite backups of all time that wasn’t mentioned is Matt Flynn. My guy parlayed 1 good week 17 game into a massive contract 😂
U got me with that last line.. lmao
Love the videos🔥, Jake Browning a DAWG WHODEY!
Yeah the backup QB job is def a thankless position... Regardless of the numbers you've put up. Back in the day, it's crazy how teams had multiple backups that could have started on other teams.. some teams 3-4 deep...
Only 2 qbs be active now smh
@@FlyEaglesFly_9 Yeah don't even see how that is possible considering how man games they play now.. crazy.
@@manatarmsslapsI don't understand why the 3rd qb is even suited up but ain't eligible to play
@@FlyEaglesFly_9 yeah that's crazy
@@manatarmsslapsshould be no need for a emergency qb when THAT GUY U PAY SITTIN THERE CHILLIN ON THE SIDELINES WIT HIS COAT ON
The ending of this vid was journalism gold 😂
