I wonder if simply adding shelf filters on the master bus to attenuate the high end and low end similar to Auratones would help you mix better?

What you also get with auratones is a sealed box, faster transient response, no crossover and no phasey stuff.

Hi guys, I am looking at investing in a pair of passive Avantone mixcubes as I know someone selling them and will I will probably only end up keeping one and selling the other, however can anybody recommend a good amplifier to match the passive set without breaking the bank, any help is very much appreciated thanks

you can also mix on your monitor but put an eq and cut off frequency bellow 90 and above 17k, that helps

Hi. I supose if u liste on one speaker you'll also hear if all the sounds are there at the right leveling in comparation with two which supoze to ? Whats the difference between using one and two except stereo image? Thanks

You’re correct. It’s easier to judge balance in a mono speaker. Sometimes, with stereo sounds, we never pay attention to how things sound in mono. This can lead to all sorts of problems like phase cancellation in which the stereo element disappears in mono. Even things like doublers can lead to frequencies disappearing in mono.
Sometimes, you sacrifice mono compatibility for stereo. But it’s really important that you’re conscious of it because ideally you want a mix to be compatible in both mono and stereo.

Hi John! I’m using the Crown D-75A. I bought it used and it was pretty affordable.

Auratone was started by my parents, Jack and Elaine Wilson back in 1958. I don't remember the model number but I do remember that my Dad used a Crown when "testing" speakers. and the different configurations of the size of the enclosure other specifications. of the Auratone 5C Cube. My nephew Alexander Jacobsen now owns and operates Auratone. Your explanation of the reasoning behind the development of the sound of the Cube is perfect. Quincy Jones coined the phrase, "Auratone, for the real world." @@DannyDaWiz
