Noojee Small Town Walkabout.
A late bloomer, Noojee, now in the the Baw Baw Shire, was proclaimed a township on 21 July, 1920 following completion of the railway from Warragul.
The 101 years of its life has seen more than its fair share of tragedy and disappointment as well as being one of Australia's prime timber-producing areas.
Wildfires in 1926 and again in 1939 decimated the town and its railway. Each time, Noojee people rebuilt to get on with their lives.
The town itself is a shadow of former days with numerous empty shops but during holidays and weekends, the town is buzzing with tourists who come to see and enjoy the Railway Heritage Centre, historic pub, the Little Red Duck Cafe and, of course, the magnificent Latrobe River valley and its natural attractions.

Yes, definitely. Bits of the line can still be seen or followed in places, but it is nothing like the experience the steam train would have given.
