  • Here is a great discourse from philosopher, theologian, and intellectual heavyweight Truman G. Madsen.
Why would God ask Abraham to sacrifice his own son?
If there was something more difficult for Abraham to do, would that have been the request instead?
Why do we only talk about rights, and not about duties?
This talk was given in October 1971.

@2:02 Hebron - Where it all started
@5:07 3 non-canonical details included in the Apocrypha about Abraham worth noting. Isaac’s bravery and level of trust in his Father is astounding.
@8:25 Would God require such a thing?
@12:30 If you cannot stand it, you will not be fit for the kingdom of God.
@14:04 What is a fanatic? A person who doubles his speed when he has lost his direction.
@14:55 Abraham saw the Christ and many things that would come.
@16:46 Rights vs Duties. You can’t have one without the other, but only rights are discussed. The Priesthood is a burden.
@19:00 Some are sent to lead us, others are sent to try us.
    @23:20 Sacrifices
@24:42 What did Abraham need to learn?
@25:27 If God had a deeper way of testing Abraham, would he have used it? Paul believed the Abraham knew Jehovah could raise his son from the dead, as He would do with his own Son.
26:40 Can God bless us without proving us? Can he draw out our spirit without our permission
@29:30 If you say, “Thy will be done” you must listen for it. Praying the bitterness out will make room for the Peace of God, and increase gratitude

Beloved in CHRIST, GOD IS FOR REAL AND HE KNOWS YOU AND LOVES YOU. ANYWAY,HE IS ALSO TRUTH,SO THAT HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS IMPOSTURE. IF,YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AMD TO LIVE HIS KINGDOM IN YOUR LIFE,YOU NEED TO TURN HUMBLY AND SINCERELY TO OUR LORD JESUS AND HE SHALL REVEAL TO YOU WITH HIS ALMIGHTY LOVE . THEN HE SHALL SET YOU FREE FROM DECEPTION,SIN AND EVIL AND HE SHALL MAKE YOU WHOLE. P.S: READ THE NEW TESTAMENT AND LEARN THE TRUE STORY OF THIS FALSE RELIGION

Truth never goes out of style nor does it age poorly.

@@gesucristo8952 We worship the Christ born of Mary. The first born of God as spoken of in the Bible. Which Christ do you follow? Also why limit yourself to the New Testament? Do we not have the Old Testament as well? Both prophesy of Christ and both are from God.
As far as "true story", am I to deny the testimony that tells me the religion is true and of Jesus Christ? Maybe you should ask God with true intent. With a knowledge that you will willingly set aside your own beliefs and follow his direction no matter what.

Don't forget Hebrews chapter 11 where it clearly states That Abraham believed that Isaac would be raised from the dead as one day Christ would be raised from the dead.
