The Silicon Valley expression "Move fast and break things" sounds like a perfect fit for commercial aviation.

Remote controlled planes have been around since the 1940s. Welcome to the Space Age NBC.

if i'm on a plane, I want the pilot to have some skin in the game. ....also, what happens if a solar flare (or some other factor) disables connections? Just seems like this is adding an unnecessary possible point of system failure.

Most commercial planes have fly by wire now, so a solar flare would make the aircraft inoperable. I still think this is a bad idea though.

@@CineZoneYT i think fly by wire systems have been fortified against solar flairs after what happened with qantas flight 72. i could be wrong.

This is just a giant RC plane using a head tracking fpv camera. It is cool that they did it on such a large scale, but it is not innovative or ground breaking technology. The RC community has been doing this for a long time.

While they're at it they'll need to design some passengers who are loopy enough to ride in plane without a pilot, they're likely to be kinda scarce.

They say a remote control Cessna recently made history.... we were doing this in the 70's with the QU-22B Bonanza. Smh, California tech people.

Too bad the funding and technology isn't used to help train pilots and ATC...with experience you feel the plane and in a way it becomes an extension of the pilot. Sad that we are moving in the wrong direction

Well I just saved $100,000 on flight training.

Not all planes are going to be pilotless.
Stop using this tech to justify your regret for not going through flight training
