The armor is somewhat inspired by Geralt's first in-game armor(witcher 3) and so are his swords- their handles are pretty common in the game.

Edit: lemme clarify, when I say same level, I’m talking about the dedication to the character, not the overall acting performance. We’ve seen too little of Cavill’s performance to judge, not to mention that Geralt’s character doesn’t show much emotion generally

Rusty Shackleford Henry is the best, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the other castings were bad....
Except Triss. Definitely terrible casting. Doesn’t even look or feel remotely like the character. Wouldn’t mind if they pulled an iron man 2 war machine cast change where they straight up changed the actor.
Henry kept a sword near him at all times and continually just held it and swung it around so that it would feel natural to him to convince viewers he held a sword all his life as Geralt would have. DEDICATION. My respect for Cavill skyrocketed since his involvement in this show! And he is such a fan of this IP! He's one of US getting to play the role he coveted from the moment he played TW3!
Cavill nailed geralt. Honestly I was a bit apprehensive after his image leaked which made him look like legolas. But damn from the looks to the attitude to the voice.
Cavill is geralt of rivia and no one can deny that.

YES! Some people still don't get that. With the quality of series these days, there's no need to try and adapt huge novel series into a movie or movies. It makes no sense. Some people still see the movie as some kind of banner of prestige.

It's true he really likes the game and it shows that he REALLY wants to BE the embodiment of Geralt. I think it's a role that suits him more than Superman considering Geralt is a deeper character and lets his acting skills show more

Producing AAA Game titles is much more expensive then producing AAA Movies. Income is bigger too.

Forgot to mention his voice in the series is almost the same in the games, Henry decided to dub it in the same way as in the games, since he liked the way it was done in the ganes.

I'm so happy The Witcher is becoming part of popular culture. I've read the books many years ago but the saga really stuck with me. It was always sad when I mentioned it to people and they had never heard of it. It's not only a great story but great prose too. The games did a great job in understanding the tone of the series and its characters, and now we have the tv show. Can't wait to see more of it.

I found it incredible how well they adapted the first book in to the show while also tying the short story's into the actual narrative of the series
I'm still waiting for the short stories and novels by mail. Right now I'm still dabbling in the first game before the two other games. I'm really eager to get more into the universe.
The Polish Witcher (Wiedźmin) was not a very good film, but Żebrowski played very well and the soundtrack and landscapes reflected the spirit of the book.
Film 2001 wasn't good but Polish series 2002 was good you can watch on youtube

Polish Witcher is originaly called Wiedzmin, Hexer is a german translation🤷🏻♀️.

I had the BIGGEST doubts about Cavill and I've never been happier to eat my words.
Cavill's performance accompanied by the writing, pacing (though a little too fast) and production value really shine through and blew me away. I hope Netflix keeps up this Gem.

I can't imagine what it must feel like for the stuntmen to have Henry Cavill wield a real broadsword at their face
Henry apparently designed that sword... but he messed up slightly: He's got what looks like a double-handed grip for a longsword (or at least a Bastard Sword), which is what Geralt uses in the games. I dunno if his sword is ever described explicitly in the movies. But Henry Cavill's sword isn't quite right, the blade is much too short for the grip.

I'm not very familiar with Henry Cavill's work but this show made me a fan and the last entry on this video just made me respect him as an actor even more. It's always great to hear about people who are dedicated to their roles to that extend. It really shows it's not just another gig for them.
