    I picked up the Keris wired off Amazon for $23 a year or two ago and ADORED the effort and quality despite the shape feeling like it was made for four year olds - especially with how the buttons curve over the sides _so much._ But I'll never get rid of it because sometimes I'll pull it out and play with it to see if my grip has evolved to be able to use it; and I honestly COULD use it, but only if I take it apart and trim down the overhand from the button paddles so I can hold the thing and not get my grippin' fingers in the way. So it's really awesome to see they've evolved this design so much to be something even more usable at this small-ish size. The ability to swap switches was really my favorite feature, but since this mouse has hopped the optical hype-train, we don't get that. If they kept standard switches and and made this hotswap, this mouse would have likely been THE shmedium ero mouse to get. Maybe a non-ace version will come along soon. Fingies crossed!
    Now if only people didn't mock wires out of existence, I'd be able to try this out at a reasonable price instead of paying for features that work so hard to exist on parity with a stinking wire. Oh, and bluetooth for the singular fact of being able to artificially gloat about battery life unobtainable in 2.4ghz mode 🙄haha

    Yes! Measuring the width at the middle both from below and from above is a very good idea. Glad to see so many measures, it's much better than just length, height and one width, thank you. Please keep doing it like that for future reviews.
    I like the new format, too.

    There is a lot to love about this mouse, for example I like the "4k adapter" & the 1 dongle for the keyboard+mouse solution, but $150 is way overpriced imo (as all the ROG products).
    If you are not a ROG / ASUS fanboy you can have the Xlitev3 or the Lamzu Thorn for 100$. Maybe this mouse is better -for your preferences- but I am sure not worth the extra 50% price (yes, they priced 100$ without the 4k dongle, but the dongle is usually 20$ waste of money and you wont notice the difference anyway).

      It's a postal scale, they're not meant to handle precise weighting of individual things *below* a certain threshold of 11 ounces or whatever. They're meant to weight packages, haha. He's used postal scales in the past and it confused me because of that haha. So yeah, something more like a jeweler's or kitchen scale is going to give the precision he's looking for in measuring these things consistently 👍

    I love your reviews but just a minor critique. You don't use calipers correctly. You can use the full length of the caliper arms to measure the widest point. Instead you are just eyeing and guessing a single point to measure and using the narrow width of the caliper arms.

    Until ASUS makes a concerted effort to streamline their Armoury Crate software, I will *NEVER* install another one of their peripherals on my PC. Their software is so bad that it should be considered spyware/malware by Microsoft.

    • @mmayojr
      @mmayojr Před 2 měsíci +1

      You don't even have to use the software

    • @8020Alive
      @8020Alive Před měsícem +3

      @@mmayojr- wrong. The mouse requires a firmware update (bug fixes). Once that is done you are correct that "settings" can be changed without it. So people are having to update it on burner laptops and school computers - then making adjustments....but why bother with these hoops?
      The software literally uses Internet bandwidth to phone home and excessive CPU cycles when computers idle - and can't be uninstalled fully - it's practically spyware.

    • @paul2609
      @paul2609 Před měsícem

      @@8020Alive You don't need software for this. I bought the three latest ASUS mice (Gladius III, original Keris, Impact III wireless) and I can set the DPI, polling, LoD, profiles, LEDs, etc via the mouse bottom-plate's buttons. Software is only needed for firmware or custom RGB which you can save onto the onboard memory and then uninstall the software.
      There is a lightweight version of the Armoury Crate (2MB - Framework version) which ASUS for some reason not advertising where it will only download the required content for the mouse and prevents it from being bloatware, everyone I seen seems to be installing the full version which is like 3GB.
      I been using the framework version and is not running in the background at all. I paid for NetLimiter which tracks all internet traffic and Armoury Crate isn't sending/receiving packets anywhere at all.

    • @Billy_The_Frog
      @Billy_The_Frog Před měsícem +1

      I recently installed it and it took a solid 5 mins, but that wasn't the end. I still had to update it with several things and restart my pc, which took another 7 mins. And then i find out that if i uninstall or stop running armoury crate, the light settings does not save. So i had to install and use their separate Aura Sync software instead, which throws a bunch of other stuff onto my pc that i had to uninstall separately after. Almost 17 mins just to change the lights on my pc. I'm sorry Asus, i like your products but armoury crate is complete trash.

    In truth it's the opposite, it was RAZER who copied ASUS ROG, THE GLADIUS 2 that I have and which came out well before, is a clone of the DAV 3 PRO... it is also much better worked than the dav 3 pro with an exceptional hand lock (with lizard grip) despite the weight. Asus are experts in mice much more than Razer and much further ahead!

      How is Asus better ? Zowie comes without a software that can destroy your whole system and is a pain to get rid off
      Also the new U2 is insane, sure they don't have 4k pollingrate , but tbh it's not that huge
      I take a perfectly crafted sensor all the time over a 4k pollingrate
      I played with 2,4,8k on my 360hz BenQ and sure you feel it but If you don't have a CPU for that , it's srsly not worth it and lots of games won't even support 4k
      Btw if you won't change your dpi to at least 1600 or above 4k is useless anyway
      And so far many still prefer 800dpi , hell even 400dpi
