What's a great book you've read in the past year? For me, it was hands down "The Push" by Tommy Caldwell.
I'll check it out. Thanks for making more videos on this topic. 😁
@Simra Sikander LOVED THAT BOOK!
Rubicon by Tom Holland
Blind fold Chess,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, atleast you had it on the section in priority list 😂... the guy told to do the video on remembering chessboard
"The Right it" by Alberto Savoia
TL;DR summary
1. Prioritise reading in your life (make a wishlist / want-to-read list)
2. Read everywhere (include other options like e-reader / audiobooks)
3. 'Read smart' - make sure you're using the best practices/techniques on reading efficiently
4. Stop reading books that suck - perhaps if you're not enjoying it, or you're just continually getting stuck in it
5. Read impulsively - if you get into something, read it right now rather than waiting since you are enthusiastic
6. Read multiple books at the same time
7. Take notes and keep track
8. Make a goal out of it (perhaps either book/year, or by minutes / day etc)
Thanks for sharing the summary

Incredible video as always! Thanks for the great content, you became my favorite youtuber!
And please make a video about what you've read over the past year!!!
Nelson, you're awesome! Thank you for all that you're doing.
Very good tips and video ! It makes me want to read a book right away ! Thanks Nelson 👍
Thank you for your tips, good sir! Keep up the good work.
Hey Nelson, I hadn't considered audiobooks until COVID19 came about but I'm on my 3rd audiobook already and possibly my favourite this year, Atomic Habits.
6:35 ... You really had me going until I saw the description, well played!
I love your content...they are always super informative and without bias. Btw this video will help me a lot I hope.
Really useful video, amazing for this time. Greating from Argentina, Nelson.
Man this video was so helpful that it actually made me read more smartly.
It's seems you have a great collection of books, i am more into nonfiction books please help in recommending non-fiction books if possible!!☺️
All good tips! Thanks!
Love your tips nelson
Love from India.
I just got your book (Remember It). Will start with that one. Have a great weekend
love your videos, please upload some more *Memory palaces*
I always enjoyed reading but once I got into highschool and for me to finish it with straight As it was not easy to feel like reading so I just quit it without even realizing. Once I did I made myself a deal "Hey, read 15 books this year" (this was in Dec 2018) and so I started since 15 books is not a lot. Actually, since I had the goal so low I got it really fast because I just simply gained the habit of reading again. In the end of 2019 I think I finished the year with 33 books in my mind. I was really happy. I read so many good books and I finally felt happy and excited about books again. I did a lot of videos about books in my channel, I was watching booktubers, I participated in readathons, it was so fun. So this year I told myself to read 40 books. I'm on my 35 so I won't get it done but I'm not sad or anything. I read BIG books all the time so it is kinda hard for me to read so much (I need to rely on my local library and I dont have any audiobook app so I need to get away with what I get) so in Portugal books have the font a lot smaller than UK or the USA so a book there is almost twice as thick than here but I usually read books with over 300 so it is not an easy task sometimes haha. Still, I had so much fun these past 2 years. I'm in uni now so I feel even more pressured and sad that I dont have so much time to read but I'll continue doing it. I reread Harry Potter last year and I loved it so much, this year and I read for the 1st time LOTR and I'm finishing the reread now. I discovered so many good books and I'm really grateful that I can experience so much through paper with people that dont even exist. My last book was "The Shadow of the Wind" and WHAT A BOOK. People say it is a future classic just like the book thief but, even though is not as good as this last one it was SOOOOOOOOO GOOD. I still cant put into words how amazing it was. Lets hope 2021 brings us a lot more books
Yesterday, i 've watched your "read one book in a day" video. And today this. I think there must be more videos about speed reading. Although im skeptical about speed reading but i want to see some tips from u about it.
A lot of books(novel/biography) that I started reading but never finished. Always felt like I needed pictures, I can quickly read comics. But it's not the same with books. I'll follow your tips and find out which book is it going to be that I'm finally going to finish! :)
Thank you !
Currently reading: The Education of an Idealist, A Memoir, Samantha Power
Purpose for reading: As a high school teacher of English Language Development to US Refugees and Immigrant families, I wanted to learn more about how my students landed in my classroom and the link or connection to US Foreign Policy. Reading this book has been an 'education' for me.
Please share the books you read.
Would you mind sharing with us your side notes (google doc) compiled from the books you've read? I'm interested in your style of how to make memorable notes that triggers in your mind the complete puzzle of what you have read ? Perhaps you could make a video for that as well.
The habit of winning by Prakash Iyer.. go for it.. your videos are awesome 💕
Could you make a video on how you practice!? I would love to be able to have a regular practice regimen
Thanks for sharing! It would be great to know part of your notes. The last book I really liked was "we are legion (we are bob) in case you're interested"
You always give great advice, i just wish you'd make more videos!!!😑😑
Awesome video Nelson. Last book I read/listened to is.....Remember it! by you. It is a definate awesome read/listen. If people don’t have your book I recommend it 1000%. It helped me out quite a bit. And I thank you for that. ✌🏻👍🏻 sidenote....... I’m looking at the appendix of your book at your PAO System and noticed you left out 14. I’ll just take that one for myself. What is your PAO for 14??
Thanks for your support, as always, Bill! And yes, I'm aware of the missing 14. Not sure how that slipped through the cracks! 14 is a hockey player, slapshotting, with a hockey stick :D
Great video! My fav book was Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Highly recommend it!
Hey Nelson! I got a question. I have a PAO for cards and can memorize a deck in a minute with just 3 weeks of practice but 9 out of 10 times a few of the persons won't stick and I switch them up. Is there a way to make the persons stick better or does it just require a ton of practice? Thanks!
Reading time is relaxing time. If you can find a chair the sun is hitting and you like coffee or tea, it's amazing and you don't even want to watch a video or whatever thing you do on your phone. To be honest I kinda liked doing this with watching videos too. I don't really see books as a higher form of entertainment. But sometimes I like to build a backlog of yt videos from creators I like. Basically I just like knowing I have something I enjoy so I don't have to waste time looking for something when I have free time. Finding a good book, finding a good game, finding a good series of videos... That's when I feel happy for a week. Finding the next thing is what sucks. YT has tricked us into thinking it's so convenient to refresh you subscriptions or look at what the algorithm has suggested for you. But it's the same as channel surfing from back in the days of cable TV. You start to feel like everything sucks.
The only problem with books is I need quiet to enjoy them, and often it's just not quiet :( So I end up wasting time looking for videos because I need the noise to block out the outside noise. Reading when it's quiet is really absorbing though.
I love reading, but lately I have to give 90% of my attention and stamina to programming. Hope someday I have time again to read my books
long time no seen nelson hope u are doing well!!!👍
I stopped reading after my 1000th book. It's like being 80: everything seems to repeat itself and there's nothing new.
I'm into other things now.
What other things?

Haha thank you! I don't know! Some come to me, some I see in other videos.

I love reading and my goal for this year is 23 books (as it is 2023) I am far ahead of schedule so far according to Goodreads so wish me luck!!!
Hi Bud, really enjoyed the video. Got curious about the Tim Urban video you mentioned. Could you please share the link of that too. :) Cheers
It was linked in the video, but adding it to the description (and here): czcams.com/video/lIW5jBrrsS0/video.html (it's actually a Max Joseph video, but he consults with Tim Urban in it)
Thanks Mate! You are a star
Funny thing is that these steps could be applied to many other types of learning/growth. Let's say I am going to learn programming language such as Python.
I can take the inspiration from point 6. Read multiple books at the same time and use multiple sources and tutorials or courses. Or take point 7. Take notes and keep track - Surely I can do this during my python learning progression. Same for the rest of the points
I for one quite interested in knowing what you read!
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. AS A STUDENT I LACK READING FAST HENCE I LACK IN CLASS. I HAVE TO READ FASTER AND QUICKER TO SUCCEED.
I started listing to quantum memory by dominic o’brien and got interested in to sport now I’m here😃
a... ad? AN ad, sir. please read a book about grammar, haha. thanks for the tips. happy to have them.
I've been compulsively buying books ...well that rings a bell
I am from Bangladesh. Keep up bro.
❤❤❤❤❤
Where does memory palaces fit into this? I loved that you mentioned taking notes and Readwise but you didn’t really share what I was looking for. Should I take all the notes and create a mind palace… lmk what you recommend cheers, jeremy
Can you spot the lizard 🦎 12:33. And it was seating behind Nelson for a while. I love your videos. I enjoy watching your tips.
What if I want to read and understand my academic books asap but I don't like much the subjects???. Please help
I imagine you shoot your videos in all these different locations just to add to your list of memory palaces you can use.
For me, the question is how do I do things other than reading!
Question: What kind of books should I read?
Non-fiction or fiction?
50/50 🤷♀️😁
I would mix it up. Another tip to read more is to change up genres. Don't read too much of the same kind of thing. I usually lean towards more non-fiction but I tried to have a nice balance between both.
Or mix the two together with some Graham Greene / Hunter S Thompson, books which are true stories of the authors but written with their zeal for fiction and flair
I read wattpad and you can try fiction I think? But it is in to you
0:55 this makes me laugh real hard 😂
I love when the tips to read more books is to do a completely different activity (listening). Audiobooks are not reading. You are not sitting down and committing 100% focus to using your eyes. They arensifferent skills and different activities.
Did you read any memory book in recent??
4:42 in, finally, he starts to talk about how to read more books....

I advise a good book about sicily's history "La Sicilia dell 800 tra giochi e tradizioni dal punto di vista di Giuseppe Pitrè" di Leda Nelli su amazon.
Anyone here after Ali Abdaals collab video with Nelson. 😍

Thanks Nelson, always good to see your videos. Few notes and please feel free to delete this comment. Wear a new shirt before shooting a video, or at least ironed one. My record was 360 books in a year during my high school years. Liberians even quizzed me to see if I was actually reading those books. Now days I can read about 1000 pages in a day of heavy technical documentation. One more note about your appearance, you need to workout and should not sweat so easily. Also you need to improve your walking pose/style. Once aging thanks a lot and keep up the good work
I discovered recently the speed watching. Just put this video on x1.75 or x2 speed and you will realise that you can understand 90 % of the video.
So why not to save time with video too not only books hhh
Listening to a book is NOT reading the book though. Reading is active, listening is passive. If you are just listening, even with the best of intentions, you aren't engaging, you are encouraged to do other stuff at the same time and not properly focus on the book at hand.
The best tip here is "Stop Reading Books That Suck".
Wait is this a serious video
Potato, yes.
You sit down and stand back up a lot.
For me listen to audio books don't count as reading. Cause different parts of brain involved.
Good video tho.
You’ve ruined me Nelson. When you had the Barack Obama mic drop, I instantly thought, “20, next image”
10% of your reading will change your life. The other 90% is a waste of time. --Sincerely, a reader
