  • I was honored to be invited to two different weddings while visiting the Siddi communities in Gujarat. Keep in mind that this is the Muslim Siddis, Christian and Hindu Siddis wedding might be different.

    My heart is heavy and full of sadness because of the sudden death of the groom in this video.
    Feel free to leave your condolences here.
    I was told that he got hit by an incoming engine train which goes through their neighborhood while running away from the police for breaking a COVID-19 noon curfew in his hometown of Jamnagar, Gujarat. He left behind a widow and a young child. He was only 25 years old, just two years after this beautiful and memorable wedding.
    Lord have mercy on his soul.

The truth is in the history of Africans outside the continent - SLAVERY. Obviously, in today's world, people from Africa travel and relocate around the world on voluntary basis. What has that got to do with it, when in fact, Africans were instigated against one another to help fuel the slave trade by white explorers in their quest for free labor in the west?. Again, do some study before you subconsciously broadcast your naivety. I call this, a rookie mistake on your part. It was an era that should never repeat itself again. It was a dark, dark side of African history and we need not blame each other for causes far beyond our control at the time.
      I was brought to tears watching this clip because it moves me to see a new generation of Africans who would today see motherland as foreign and may never assimilate.

    I am from Trinidad, West Indies, an Indian descendant. I feel so connected to these Siddi people, despite their African ancestry. Here in Trinidad, the African and Indian intermarry, and we have lots of mixed people. We have relatives of all different skin colour, hair texture and facial features. The song "Ebony and Ivory" says that "People are the same wherever you go". Do India and Africa proud !

      Yeah some of these people look like a admixture of Indian and African which is common in the Caribbean to varying degrees. People forget that certain dishes that I know of in The Caribbean were Indian influenced and so was Rastafarian and herbal meditation a mixture of African and Indian.

      But this Siddis didn't arrive here for business they were brought here as slaves by arab rulers . Africans have a great body , so having a good build they were used for fights . Later they became partners of the mughals and used to fight for expansion of mughal kingdom . Thats the reason they follow islam . People all over India have no idea about siddis , but the place where I come from siddis were invaders for us . Siddis are found in states below us and above us but not in our state .

      Lol. India took Gold from Rome and South East Asia not Africa. As for Diamonds, India was the sole producer of diamonds in the world till 19th century. Africans acted as intermediaries in Indo-Roman trade and benefitted from it.

    Siddi found mostly in Jamnagar, India and surrounding areas. They came from Zanj in Africa and most of them were sailors and ruled Zanjira state in India.

      It is a form of adoration and blessing.- touching the head or face ,like how they do in this video than to crack the fingers on oneself, its like not to jinx the blessing,(it is like touch wood),westerners cross their fingers.Its is done to the bride and groom by blessing them ,eg May Allah give you long life health and happiness and a blessed marriage. Or if you see a relative or cousins after so long time,you say, wow you so beautiful or you have grown so big.May Allah keep you healthy and long life and

      Siddis in India came as slaves ,later during Mughal Rule they enjoyed the luxury and had a flourishing life , during British Rule they went low , during 1999-2000 they were again respected for being good sportsmen and a organisation was formed to develop them , they were on the verge of getting a better life but soon the organisation was scrapped . The condition of the siddis is always Ups and Downs .
