GM put a good bit of R&D into these intakes. You can't beat them from idle to 3500. If you do to them what these guys do and what I've seen in Vizard's induction book you could really surprise a lot of folks.

My favorite theme is making stock parts faster!

I have a friend who was a pretty successful dirt track guy. He once told me if you aren't cheating you aren't winning.

Are all q jet manifolds portable? Or do you only use a specific year range?
I have an early oil fill tube intake and a 69 300hp q jet that I'm curious about working with. Want it to look as close to stock as possible.

On my stock 1972 C10 350 4bbl which will never see over 5000rpm and is only street driven, should I convert to a 2bbl and rams horn exhaust? I want quiet, better power and fuel economy. I'll also be replacing the current 4-speed with a Tremac 5-speed. Thanks in advance.

For something like that your best to stick with the 4bbl that you have. As far as exhaust the LT1 manifolds will get you the most power, if they will fit. If you're are looking for center dump style, the ram horns are your best choice.

Thank you. Not sure why I was never notified of your reply, but thank you very much.

@@20alphabet it's hard to get any fuel economy from a 350.
I recently built a 350 for fuel economy for a friend. Used a boat motor 2 barrel intake with a motorcraft carb and ram horns. Stock cam advanced 4 degree's. Runs very smooth. Soon to check mileage.

Back in the 1980s I built a 350 for a 1972 Chevy Nova for efficiency in both power and mpg. I could average 20mpg from Ontario to San Clemente with a 350TH transmission and stock rear gears.

@@20alphabet 20 is an impressive number. I will reserve judgement on that, probable with pro jection. My brother was getting good mileage with a 2.50 rear end in a van with a 350. But never said how much.
I've only built 30 or 40 mouse motors and don't know what combo works best with them for mileage.
Now talking Ford that's a different story. Every Ford I have built with a long rod makes better mileage and other improvement.
I run a boss 302 in my 68 F 100. I get 15 Miles per gallon. It is not stock. Just put together for mileage and torque. It's an interesting engine to experiment with.
It would be interesting to take your 5.7 rod 350 and switch to a 6 inch and flat top to see the difference.

    It's NOT a Motor!!!! It's an ENGINE!!!!
Motors are Hydraulic, phnumattic, and electric!!!! Engine's are internal combustion!!!! Rocket, reciprocal piston, and Jet Turbine!!!
The two are NOT interchangeable and DO NOT work on the same Engineer principles!!!!!
I'll bet money you have NEVER rebuilt a motor, but many Engine's!!!

Well I just rebuild the motor on the man lift, and a few for our grinders. O and also several for my RC cars. How about you take about 38% off the top there.
