    Bruh defence in football and basketball is WAY different!!! I've played both for years. The fact that you have the ball at your feet, and that you dont have to keep your dribble alive, creates a completely different scenario. I know the basic stands can look kinda similar, but there are so many different factors to account for as a defender (dont feel like listing them all here)But lets just say, if you look at somebodys hips when they got you squared up, you will get CLOWNED!!

    It's definitely fun watching guys like Robinho and Ronaldinho cause their skills are insane. But if wanna get a real feel for "The Beautiful Game", then you gotta watch some pass and ball control videos. For specific players I'd look up Xavi Hernandez, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Andrea Pirlo, Xabi Alonso, Zinedine Zidane, Dennis Bergkamp, Dimitar Berbatov, and Andres Iniesta. There are many more too. Some of the passes an NFL QB couldn't make and some of the balls controlled an MLB outfielder couldn't catch. You gotta remember these guys are mostly using their feet and body parts that can't even be extended. Ask yourself how many things can you do accurately with your feet and legs? I'm a fan of all sports, and I can safely say soccer is most definitely one of the most dificult. Love your channel btw keep it up!

    • @denzelwenzel
      @denzelwenzel Před 3 lety +1

      Im not sure they will be able to appreciate the nuance of a player like Xabi alonso. Sure the long passes will impress them, but thats probably about it. I think you need so have a somewhat solid overall understanding of the game, to appreciate that type of player

    • @leeharvey960
      @leeharvey960 Před 3 lety

      @@denzelwenzel Yeah you either have to have been wathing your whole life and/or played a lot to truly understand how incredible some touches and even the simplest passes are. You're right. Robinho’s first team was Santos. Every good player from that team is called “the new Pelé” cause Pelé played basically all of his career for Santos. Same happened to Neymar. However, he never reached a high level in Europe, having the chance to play for great teams like Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester City.

    Offside is kinda tricky to judge sometimes, cause it's not about where you are when you receive the ball, it's about where you were when the ball left the foot of the person that passed it to you...
    So you have to be watching both the player passing the ball and the player who's going to get it

    Offside is determined when the ball is kicked not when it is received! A player is offside when he is sent a pass while he is behind the other teams last defender and while they are the most advanced attacking player for their own team. So a fast player can legally run in behind the defense to receive a passed ball as long as the pass was sent before he was actually behind the defending players.

    You have to pay attention to the guy who is potentially receiving the pass when the passer touches the ball. It's that exact moment. I guess it's made that way to favour intuition and strategy and not a bunch of dudes upfront waiting for the ball. You have to start the run in the right moment so you are in line with the defense. If the pass is good, you can get a 1v1, I guess that's why offensive midfielders have to have vision and pass skills along with long shot above all.

  • @denzelwenzel
    @denzelwenzel Před 3 lety

    Just because you can stay infront of someone, dosent mean you're not beat. Football is all about creating angles, which is much easier than in basketball, because of the size of the field, and the fact that you cant use your arms to stop the ball. If all you do is trying to stay infront of someone, they are just gonna do a quick 1-2 (like a give and go) and run right by you. And if you're close to your own goal, one slightly wrong step means that you cant block their shot and/or their cross. Playing 1v1 defense at the highest level in football is almost impossible, which is why every team tries to make sure that none of their defenders end up in an iso 1v1. The moment a defender is in that situation, your defence has already kinda failed
