Here in the US too many people feel that if they Pay for something like a theme park they are entitled to go ahead and abuse staff and demand special privileges. Unfortunately that attitude has spilled over onto unpaid activities. They see the Guards as being there for Their own personal fun… not as they really are… a Working Military Force. To be able to interact with them is a Privilege that is Granted. Not an Amusement.

Unlike the really rude one the other day who shouted at a woman who told another woman that you're not supposed to touch the horse - "this is MY horse. I say she can touch it, not you" or words to that effect, I cant remember the exact phrasing. It was a bit nastier than that though. I was quite surprised and there was no need for it especially given the new signs. As for 'My horse' - I wasn't aware they brought personal horses to guard duty, there's me thinking they're military horses, and that touching is not supposed to happen. It was a poor way to treat someone for upholding the rules. He could easily have said "it's OK, I've given permission".

I think it's simple. If someone touches the horse they are simply told by the guard (loudly) "Step away from the horse!" Make it a standard procedure. Of course, then the problem becomes one of dealing with those who will do it deliberately so they can tell all their little buddies "I made the guard shout" It's a lack of respect and, frankly, a difficult tight rope for these service men and women to balance on. Putting it bluntly did the previous signs stop everybody touching the reins? Do the warnings about horses biting keep people away? It's a no win situation for the troopers unfortunately.

Hi there. I came across your channel a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have watched quite a few "episodes" since and cannot believe the attitudes of some of the tourists -totally ignorant! However, I think that is symptomatic of many things going on in the world at the moment and the lack of tolerance and understanding that seems to prevail. Your channel has given me a welcome release and respite from all that is going in our amazing country at the moment and I thank you. Your pride in our country (and I mean the whole of the UK) and your respect for tradition is exemplary. Thank you again. (PS -some people may still touch the horse purely because they don't speak English and can't understand the sign. Admittedly they will be the minority. 🤔) 😊

However haven't you noticed many who touch are on the side if the sign. It just needs the trooper to say no. Tourists copy tourists and if they see some touching without being told no then they will continue. If rules are in place they have to be enforced otherwise they are not worth the paper they are written on. It is down to those in charge to tell their troopers enforce, no exceptions it is quite simple really.
At the same time in the other box the trooper politely and firmly said no and those who followed did not attempt to touch the horse.

It seems that it may be up to the trooper about touching or not. The one horse seemed to want the attention so the trooper , knowing his horse, didn't say anything. The bigger totally black horse was calm but didn't crave touching like the other. The trooper knows that and won't allow the touching. I think in the end it should be the troopers desicion knowing the horse they are on at the time.
