My number one unrealistic thing is definitely "Prince Alfie" I mean, how many princes fly off to another country to join a dance studio, and have to be chased by his royal advisors or whatever they are! Ok, mini rant over

He probably was, both him and piper took regular dance classes from and young age (and they have 2 other sisters who maybe danced/maybe did something else) and dance classes are really expensive. You can easily get flights for $20, you would be lucky to get an hour dance lesson for that.

Editing Disaster my dance classes are about £175 pounds per year...(£100 for classes, £75 for studio leotards, tights and other things)
Ik this might be realistic but Im gonna say it anyways. When Latroy went away to that farm or whatever it was, he was gone for like a month. And everyone, including Riley were okay with him missing like a month of rehearsals. I just think its stupid because any other studio head would either say no or make him the alternate.

the whole margie situation just made me question chloe's sanity

Honestly it made me question everything because other characters knew who Margie was and talked to her so I didn’t get the Margie disappearing possibly being Chloe’s imagination thing
I’m pretty sure margie disappearing in that scene with chloe was just a one time thing and maybe just her subconscious telling herself to follow her dreams or whatever.
I think the flash mob at the mall fur Michelle was a bit unrealistic because it would be really hard to get that many people. Even though it was a good moment it wasn’t that realistic. I also think that Lucien being an international judge is unrealistic even though it was good for drama and the story, Lucien didn’t even have judging experience. Another thing which wasn’t realistic is Nomanda because it was like Amanda liked Noah’s muscles and Amy and Latroy liked each other just because they danced together.

-when do they have the time to do homework? It seems like they are always on the studio. And also when at season 7 Noah said that they will be there even when its past the midnight. Don't their parents care? How does the music just start playing whenever they enter the studio?
I agree so much in Season 1 when Emily and Michelle were choreographing dances to go against each other for dance captain Emily kept her dancers rehearsing till past midnight!!! How is that allowed??
And didn’t Amanda’s parents know what she was doing . How would they be ok with that ?

You know what’s really unrealistic to me is the fact that they never actually like mention that TNS is like Canadian, like for example when they’re at internationals they say Sweden, Jamaica, England etc. or at most they say blah blah studio from wherever. But then they just say the next step and there’s no mention of country whatsoever and it’s the same at the bangers and mashups thing

Britanny said that season 1 had no script. Well they did but it didn’t have lines. The script was more like sentences explaining why a character doing this or that and then they had to improvise based on their understanding of their character.

Please do a video about repeating storylines in TNS! Such as how a lot of the dancers get injuries and then deny it until they can't dance anymore, or the constant hip hop-contemporary mash-ups.

something that I found vey unrealistic was how noah and richelle went from besties to noah not wanting to associate with richelle like in season 4 they both finally made a troupe together which they've both wanted and the fact that no one acknowledged that was very unrealistic

I thought it was unrealistic how a Switzerland Prince was dancing at a random Canadian Dance Studio? Wouldn’t he have a more special royal dance studio?
He has his castle but he is stopped from doing what he wants from his parents. All of season 4 explains it.
Also, if James went for that whole CPR class, y couldn't he help Emily when she hurt her knee?
And when Emily _did_ hurt her knee, the doctor said after 8 months of not dancing she'd be fine and she didn't dance for 8 months but she still had permanent knee injury!
And lastly, if Piper was Jame's sister, why wasn't she at aunt Cathy's wedding?
(Ik the reason for the last one, bcuz she obvsly didn't sign up for the next step at that time, but I'm just saying it made the next step less realistic)

I think the following things are VERY UNREALISTIC:
-Alfie being a prince. In what world can princes just run away from home, fly to another country?
-Internationals tie. How can it just happen to be an exact tie? Like that is just so silly
-International finals. Sweden is the best team in the world so how can they get a 92?! Wouldn’t it be expected from them to be around 98
-TNS wins. How can TNS go from being a small studio to beating the world so quickly?
-Huntmily. They dated then Emily broke up with him to bring down Amanda. After Amanda left how come their relationship was thrown out of the window?
-Flashmob. How is it possible to get that many people? And within such a small time? It goes from Riley saying “we need to get her back” to James going to her school then going to the mall and having a GIANT flashmob? Like howwwww
-Season 4 Michelle. How is it possible for her to dance with herself then after turn into the other version?
-Noah’s powers. How can he catch things quickly, dodge basketballs while flipping and dance with a blind fold on?
As for Michelle dancing with herself, I think that was supposed to be more metaphorical or her imagination.

Unlike the Chloe/Margie thing, this was a realistic use of imagination and looking back.

i don’t think it’s realistic that riley (the studio head) would be allowed to have a relationship with alfie (a dancer), like i feel like there’s a boundary that the studio head wouldn’t be allowed to cross in legal terms?

I’m pretty sure that’s illegal because In the law it says nobody can have a relationship with someone who has power over them like a studio head

There's no reason Riley wouldn't be allowed to have a "fling ting" with Alfie. It wasn't a legally registered state school. What's odd is that the romances never seem to take place outside the studio. It's like they only meet up at TNS. They're like primary school romances that rarely carry on beyond 3.45pm or outside the school gates !
grimtraveller i think ‘legal’ was probably the wrong word for me to use, with hindsight i probably meant that it would be unlikely for riley to be allowed to have a relationship with alfie as she would be in a position of power over him as being the studio head she would be a guardian with a duty of care over him. i don’t know how old alfie is meant to be but either way, it’s inappropriate and realistically would have gotten her in trouble
I loved internationals but I thought it was a bit unrealistic how it was a tie! I loved jiley’s duet but what were the chances of it being a tie!
Sweden had the 5 point advantage from the male solo round lol, that’s why it was a tie.

iPredictions But The Next Step Danced with passion and emotion, Sweden is basically like LOD or dancing robots! It was basically a team full of Max’s! They might have been in sync but there not dancing with passion, their not dancing as a team and no CHEMISTRY!😁🤣

Things that didn't make sense on TNS, in my opinion:
- Alfie being a prince was sooo unrealistic, I honestly don't know what the writers were thinking when they came up with that lol.
- Margie disappearing was just weird. I mean, it would make sense if it was Chole's imagination or something, but then she said "I wonder if she was ever really there", even though other people spoke to her?
- Amanda being a double agent. I know it was a dramatic story line and all, but I personally thought it was super far fetched.
- The flying back and forth between countries in S4 🙄
- I've noticed no ones really mentioned this, but I thought James being allowed into Alfie's private dance studio in his castle in Swizerland made no sense. There is no way security would let him in lmao, he'd probably be arrested.
- Noah's back injury! He recovered way to quick, it was so unrealistic.
- Nomanda. It makes 0 sense if you look at Noah and Amanda in S1.
- LaTroy being away for a like a month, but then Cassie was made the alternate?
- Amy and LaTroy getting together after literally one dance.
- Riley being studio head was just stupid. She was only like 18 and had no experience. She hadn't even been Dance Capitan! God knows what Miss Kate was thinking...
- Amanda literally being made to go to Sweden. There is no way they could force her to go without her or her parents permission.
- Finally, the flash mob in S2. There is no way James could get all those people and basically organise something so big in such a short space of time. While it wasn't super unrealistic, it definitely was far fetched and just confused me in general 😂
Another unrealistic thing that happens was they just shipped Amanda off to Sweden (correct me if I got the country wrong) without her consent. You can’t just make someone go to Sweden! What about school!

I think its weird in season 3 when Michelle was an alternate and she didn’t know the routine I thought alternates were supposed to know the routine because if someone gets hurt like West, Michelle would step in and do the dance without them stressing about her not knowing about the choreography.

Does anyone think that Amanda being still on elite when dancing with the next step in season 2 was unrealistic. It was an entertaining plot device But it just didn't feel natural
I think that if TNS was actually a reality TV show copy then she would never reveal that she was a spy on talking heads because how does she know the TV crew wouldn't tell one of the dancers? Or if the episode came out before all the next ones were filmed and they all watched that one? Would she expose herself doing something very low on TV?

Unrealistic things in the next step (only watched season 1-4 and can barely remember 4)
How hold are the dancers supposed to be- doesn’t add up seems like most of the originals have finished school by season 3
How old is Amanda, if Noah was 16 in season 4 and they were together how old was she when she was captain at elite is season 1
Dance seasons and competition seasons in general happen of one year- regionals nationals and internationals all take place over one year each meaning them at when they didn’t make Regionals in season 4 they wouldn’t have been able to go back for another 3 years🤷🏽♀️
And then there’s a bunch of other stuff that I can’t think of but there’s a lot more for sure.
In one of the season 5 off season it says 'it's been 8 months since we lost regionals'. So I'm assuming each competition is at the end of every 4 months
I think the dancers hiding their injuries was really unrealistic because they wouldn’t be kicked off the team they’d just be told to either sit and watch or mark it
i found it unrealistic in season 3 when hunter was dancing with the guys for the last time, they were 'messing around dancing' and suddenly break out into a routine that they all somehow know
Amanda straight up commited a crime stealing from Miss Kate and didn't go to jail also Lucian should have gone to jail.
Something I thought couldn’t have happened was that in season 4 when Riley went to see James at his competition in London, she somehow managed to get there in only an hour or two but it takes 7-8 hours on the plane and with airport controls it would have taken her about 9-10 hours! I just thought the time they allowed for Riley to fly out to see James was unrealistic!

@@xcallisto_ Well, if you look at the episode it shows the outside of where the hip hop competition is and it looks like it might be about 4 or 5pm so that means Riley would have had to have left at about 3 in the morning to get to James on time, which I personally don't think she did.

Maybe the whole of the next step was in Chloe's imagination so that's why Margie could talk to everyone. It doesn't really explain why it continued after Chloe left tho (maybe she continued to imagine after she left idk). I know this is a massive stretch but if you make a child disappear you can't excpect no one to make theories 😂

I just thought of this... but maybe Margie was like a mascot that tns specifically Chloe had made up. And once Chloe left they sought of forgot about the mascot, because it was mainly Chloe who cared. It was like a support mechanism for her and once she left Margie (the mascot) wasn’t needed. That’s why other people spoke to her but she was still sought of a figure of the team members imagination. I feel like this makes a bit of sense.

Also Margie wrote on the nationals money which is how they all found out that Amanda was trying to take down tns.
What I think should have happened, was that Margie should be a little distressed because she was lost and lost her mom. Then Chloe decides to dance with her and then her mom comes back, Margie waves and then Chloe keeps dancing.
It would be a nice sweet scene not a confusing scene which made her a FREAKING FAIRY lol.

I think in season 4 the stupidest thing was Amanda quit a once in a lifetime world tour just to dance with her team at regionals

Margie existed to start with (when everyone was talking to her), and just really specifically that part of the episode where she was giving Chloe advice was Chloe's imagination, and Margie wasn't there just for that part. (Kind of makes sense to me? But I agree it didn't really fit "reality style")

If Margie is a part of Chloe's imagination tns is part of Chloe's imagination. Margie talked to Emily and most people, and Chloe saw it most of the time, so maybe tns is Chloe's imagination!!!???🤔🤔🤔

That's not true beacuse both of them (the actor's) have that not that big age difference.
Logan fabbro(Amanda) is actually 21 years old and Myles Erlick (Noah) is 20 years old so it's just one 1 year difference. Just wanted to point that out🤷
I think Nomanda was unrealistic because Amanda was a FULL GROWN ADULT when Noah was a child

I pretty much agree with MA3 on most of these. It's interesting what was said about it starting off as a reality style show. I first came across the show on holiday in Holland 6 years ago and because I can't stand most reality TV, at the time, I ignored it and carried on reading while my kids watched it. They used to show it at around 2am every morning and it was about 4 days in when I twigged that it wasn't actually a reality show, but a drama aping a reality show, which, at the time, struck me as rather intriguing.
The Margie thing was one of television's most ridiculous happenings, anywhere, ever. Even kids TV has a line beyond which it doesn't usually cross, but this was beyond the pale. It's a happening so horrendously bad that I would not pass bodily water on it if it was on fire !
I could put it stronger than that but this is a family show !
What were they thinking ? What makes it even worse is that Chloe even comments on it ! The more cynical among us might wonder whether it was a coded way of saying Chloe was abusing certain substances or maybe the stress of her decision was getting to her. Who knows ? Who cares ? It seemed in microcosm to sum up what s3 was at that point and where it was going for the rest of that dismal season. The ultimate misstep. But the whole Margie/Chloe dynamic of season 3 was already heading down the pans of unreality before the glitter. What adult gets life advice from a 7 year old ?
The Noah and Richelle injuries of s4 & 5 were realistic ~ the recoveries of both were not even close. Particularly when one thinks about exactly where those injuries were. On both occasions, they were on parts of the body that are so crucial for not just movement, but twisty, turny, stretchy movements where control at awkward moments and in complicated positions is a must. The time in which they recovered wasn't realistic and I think it was kind of short sighted by the writers because you could have situations where young dancers just coming back from injuries could easily be influenced by those kind of story lines and do themselves worse damage than they originally had.
I'm kind of torn between whether the Riley as studio head scenario was realistic or not. On some levels it wasn't but on others, it was. I've known and been around people that would take a chance on turning everything in their organisation over to a very young person to run and there are stories in real life of the young person both flourishing.......and sinking like the Belgrano. It's happened in soccer teams, churches, scouts, youth clubs, playgrounds, record companies, you name it. Granted, it doesn't happen much in comparison to going with experience, but it does happen. To be honest, I'm not really sure it was any more realistic or unrealistic than Emily or Michelle or Thalia running a studio. They all made a better fist of it than Riley. I suspect Kate thought Riley might be the ideal fusion of Emily & Michelle and also, having won it all as a dancer and herself having seen much of the old gang break up and leave, was in danger of getting stale. If nothing else, it gave rise to some of TNS's most gripping drama.
I'm not sure how long it takes to prepare for the competition, they always refer to the previous competition with the previous year but Michelle being Miss Nationals soloist for two years in a row... the previous year was not the year of the regionals.
Amanda said that she lost her round in the female solos last year but I thought that the previous year was the year of the regionals. Also in season 4 in Bangers and Mashups, the judge said in the final, after weeks we know the result of the competition but Bangers and Mashups took almost the entire fourth season, from chapter 8 to 34 but I thought it was a year of preparation And it didn't look like a year. I try to put the pieces together because Amy in season 5 said that 8 months after TNS lost the regionals, Geminis were winning the internationals.
