Which disc golf MIDRANGES are the best? | BAG BASICS

- Hey guys!
In this video Johannes is helping me, a beginner, to build my first disc golf bag. We´ve gone through the putters (linked here below). With the midranges we´re going for 1 understable 1 stable and 1 overstable disc. The idea is that we, as in Johannes, will go through some different discs and I´ll try to throw them as best as I can. Apperantly it´s good to through them straight to see the actual flight.
I´m hoping you´ll enjoy the video 😀
/Jonathan
The thinking behind the “bag basics”-series
I want to learn more about different discs. Get to know them so when I reach for one I know what it´ll do on a specific hole. So by the end of this series I´ll have my own basic disc golf bag with all I need. And I´m hoping it can help you find discs you like. There´s a lot of em out there. Do let me know your thought about the videos. ❤
The video where we´re looking at throwing putters :).

These videos are legitimately the best lat64 advertisements.
Mhm, Johannes has to be the perfect hire. These videos he create are god-tier entertainment, and also very valuable for new people to the sport.
Thank you 😀
@@sarcasm2k agree. No other disc maker does this and it is so valuable. Paul Ulibarri wanted to do something similar.
The disc golf valley game is one of the best advertisements ive seen
EMac Truth, duh
The king has spoken
In lucid-x glimmer 😏
Thank you for the tip, sir. Whoever you are 😀
Eric! You did not do that! ( lol I completely agree with you. I always carry your EMac Truth in prime and/or Moon, Fuse in gold!, Pearl in opto is a must for any under stable shots. Plus Mako3 in xtpro )
And then you woke up .
Jonathan you are so damn hilarious. The little jokes and quips you make are just amazing! So excited for more videos.
Thank you so much 😀❤
When is your first tournament? You should play one and have Thomas film and Johannes caddy.
i thought Thomas would go one on one with Johannes when he gets the bag done Winner gets lat 64 looser has to be the janitor
I don´t know yet. But it will be pretty soon :)

What @Benjamin said!
Who else loves Jonathon lol!! Because or these videos and the Android game from Lat 64 my game has drastically improved and I started buying lat 64 discs to thank and support them.
The fuse was the first disc where turnovers really "clicked" for me.
Absolutely love it
yeah same for me!
Claymore has been my go-to straight midrange for years. I've never felt so confident in a disc as I do the claymore. Great choice!
Your old friend the hyzer is also a good friend of mine, he often shows up even if i did not invite him.
You guys make the best videos! Keep them coming. We want more!😅
Keep up the great work Jonathan!!! Remember, “Slow is smooth, smooth is far.” (And better under control as a bonus)
Just had a very successful day throwing my River. 100 degrees out and I’m loving it.
Great video to show people the effect of changes in Turn only.
One thing I like to do is to throw understable discs with hyzer, stable discs straight or with slight hyzer, and then overstable discs with anhyzer. Allows me to see the different shot shapes and let the discs get more distance.
Fuse is my favorite midrange right now. It’s just so good
You guys are great!!! Keep up the great work! I love my mids!!!
I wish I could unsee that smile transition after the outro 😂😂😂
Hahaha 😂
You are getting better! Its fun to follow you on this channel 😁
I'm currently searching for another mid. You're videos are always perfect timing given what I am working on. Thanks again fellas.
Thanks for the laughs and the good info,
Love the videos, guys. Hilarious and informative - exactly what these types of videos should be. The Pure is the only L64 I've ever thrown but I love it ( yes, I realize it's not midrange :D), my go-to putter now. I'll be looking to try out some more of your discs soon! (Maybe the Fuse?) Thanks again, take care!
Great work guys!
Been throwing a compass for straight shots and turn overs and loving it !
Great stuff! Another one that somehow got by me, that 2 now. Glad it found its way to me! I've been adding some Lat 64 frisbees to my bag, thanks to you! Y'all are terrific!
Been playing for a couple years now. Recently I’ve started getting more sucked into this sport. Watching your videos has helped my game significantly. Thanks
I've been playing for a little less than a year, and mid ranges have become my new best friends! Love them!
What are you throwing?
@@comegetsomeeatingguts8203 It really depends on the type of shot I want, but I have 4.. Method, Buzzz, Champion Roc 3, and Malta
@@jayh6242 I have a buzzz but I’m not really enjoying it. Lol. Been using an insanely lately. Lmao.
@@comegetsomeeatingguts8203 My buzzz is super useful for tunnel shots and hard line shots in the woods. It holds straight pretty well for me. Admittedly, it took me a bit to get used to it. My first round with it, I kept grip-locking it.
@@jayh6242 lol. I’ll definitely keep trying. My River is pretty decent
Im subbed already and I love these videos... well done gentleman.
Hello I am Jonathan! I liked this video a lot, for me.
The Trust might be my favorite midrange ever, great choice!
I started disc golfing this year and my first putter was a L64 Pure. I buried the first 2 out of 3 putts first go around with it. It just flies so well and love the stickier material!
John John he's our man, if he can't do it I know I'm not alone. I just try to be as happy as him when I play. Only then am I winning. :)
I really needed that video, thank you. I need more practice.
Bro, your personality is so chill and entertaining. Not to mention, your game is starting to come around. I cannot imagine having all these incredible resources helping you develop. Good luck and keep slinging that plastic.
Thank you, Michael :). Have a great day! /Jonathan
I really like the Trust. That’s my go to stable mid. I haven’t tried the fuse though... it came in a mystery box and it seemed to dome(ie) for my liking. I’ll try it out tomorrow though. My understable mid is the Tursas of Westside...
great vid thanks 🙌
Good to see I'm not the only one who really intends to throw straight ahead and the disc just ends up in the trees on the right 🙈
I find the Fuse more understable than -1 by the way. I use it for backhand throws where it needs to fade to the right, or even backhand roller shots.
Haha no I do that quite often, haha. Interesting, I think it´s hard in general to set flight numbers for every player. You might just have a fast arm :)
Nice choices, i have both the fuse and the claymore in my bag and both get very frequent use.
Great as always! Understable mids for me are Bounty for backhand and Tursas for forehand. Emac Truth for my stable mid and Anvil for my over stable shots. I don't see any of these discs leaving my bag anytime soon...
Fuse in opto-x is just a beast!
Was pulling for the Pearl! The "easy to use" discs should be renamed "throw like a pro". You can learn angle control, speed control, hyzer flips, shape shots the way Tomas does with a Fuse.
Its roller disc for many still :D
I've been looking at mid ranges! Picked up a Compass and a Claymor and I may get a Fuse here pretty soon. Love the videos!
Glad you like the videos. And I´m hoping you´ll like the Fuse :)
love it boys!
Got my own Fuse-Baby now and i love it! :)
I love this series
Compass is so underrated but I’m very excited to try the Trust!
I have been selling Latitude 64 Fuses for you for years. I have given away enough of them and converted enough people that I could use a Fuse only sponsorship! 😄
I need to try a Fuse.
Haha yay. Is a good disc :)
I totally agree that Fuse is the most versatile midrange in the Trilogy. You can do anything with it, except big forehand hyzers, as the disc is too understable and it flips up.
But please, Jonathan, sneak in to factory and set all devices to Fuse for next few weeks :D
And the content is moneeeeey boys, it really helps to choose the right discs for begginers, thank you for great job!
Haha I wonder what would happen if I did 😂. Glad you like the videos.
@@Latitude64 I'm sure that most of the disc golfers would be very very happy and thankful about that. But not sure about your management :D
Love the vids!
Pearl is a fantastic favorite for under stable flights. Have opto and prime. Opto In my bag.
Fuse is a great combo with it - you can put it on any line with not much power. Fuse in Gold plastic is incredible woods disc with confidence and control.
Compass is great to if you control the flat release.
In Washington State we lots of wood shots. Great Mids are a must!
Claymore is my most used mid by far. 2 in the bag and throw multiple times every round. However, Royal Trust is starting to get used more and more as well.
These videos are A+++
Great choices for you 👊💥🤙
I lost my Prototype Trust, so waiting for the first run to be released. 👀🥏🛍
I recently got a fuse. I was not disappointed :)
Finally more bag basics
Nice choices for mids. I really liked the compass, got nice distance and would hold the line and angle you put it on. And since it would, it would show your flaws in your form. Because whatever you told the disc to do, it did it
Midranges have always been a difficult choice for me. I stay with the 3-4 disc philosophy like you do of the under stable, straight, and over stable, but I keep changing molds and never get them dialed in well enough.
great video...as a new player I am larning a lot by the videos.
I'm a big fan of the Claymore for a midrange.
Also - these videos are awesome. We should get more beginner videos like this - just throwing a ton of discs and seeing what changes.
Glad you like the videos :)
I freakin' love these videos.
I like this situation.
Fuse is excellent disk, was heart broken when lost mine last summer and they are bloody hard to get. Luckily found new one, but it is not the same for a while. The flight path is just excellent for late flips when I could not reach with forehand. That's my understable, for straight I have Compass, straight #2 Emac Truth (Trilogy at least) and for overstable a Pain.
compass all the way for me. My husband practices with it on the course with me. And he wants it.. badly. He has no chance. :) Fuse I don't use much as there are not many turn over shots on our local course that are needed, but I love flicking it forehand when approaching 40m / 130 feet to a basket.
For me is the best and THE ONLY midrange compass.
Straight release - perfect laser straight 65m with very small fade.
Hyzer release - great smooth 60m hyzer.
Anhyzer release - great smooth anhyzer, in 90% with little fade at the end.
Great for straight forehands too.
Also my first disc ever, and my first (and for now last) ace was with my first compass. So i love it!
Saaame! Its my go-to disc. I have it in the gold line and it fits soo good in my hand
@@ollelundin3701 in opto too.
Jonathan, when you feel like you're throwing high, try this, on your follow through, try to put your throwing hand in your back pocket on a backhand throw, this will help you try and focus on keeping your arm straight out instead up finishing up high. ALSO, try and throw at the same parallel line as the ground. Philo Brathwait has great info on that aspect.
If you could put the flight numbers onscreen when you id the discs it would be very helpful in learning to match numbers to characteristics. Love the channel from here in Georgia!!!
Looking forward to videos of fairway drivers and distance drivers.
You should try the Core
I fully approve of your mid range selections... for you. I have bounced back and forth between the claymore and compass as my neutral mid range but landed on the claymore. As soon as I threw the trust... I put it in my bag... great disc and the plastic feels great. I don't have an understable Mid at the moment... I use a beat up Claymore or one of my Pures in that spot. I hear so much love for the fuse... maybe I need to try it. Fun to watch you build your bag
Yeah that might happen for me as well. Having a beat in disc as understable. How long does it take? Like in rounds or how one would say, haha.
@@Latitude64 Well that is an interesting question. Discs beat in because they hit stuff. I guess the worse you play the faster they beat in 😂. Looks like the courses you play on have lots of trees... so may not take to long. A good understable disc "out of the box" is great to have too and something I may try to find.
Passed my Fuse onto a friend today, breaking in the Compass as its replacement.
Compass🤤🤤
I love my Opto Fuse.
Being an amateur is my recent favorite gold line core. (Game experience about 2 years)
Keep up the fight 💪👏
Thanks
U threw those overstable ones very nicely.
Thank you, sir!
The Buzzz is the only midrange anybody needs. The Roc is good too
Svårt att hålla sig för skratt vid ett så märkligt tonläge att säga hejdå på i slutet. 😂
Alltid lika kul med en ny video från er! ❤️
Haha ja jag blev som ställd när Johannes bara började gå ut bild 😂
I really like the fuse. Put three in your bag the heavier it gets the straighter it flies. I use them for control anhyzer. The more turn I need the lighter the disc. Then the heavy fuse is great for the really straight hyzerflip. Great for tunnels.
Great video as always!
Lagom is a word the English language needs asap😅
Ja definitivt. De kan ju sno Laegom annars.
mid ranges are a mix of 3 brands
my understable disc, nicknamed Pandabear, the pearl.
straight flying is the innova mako3. just insane how it just keeps its line and never seems to wanna fade
overstable is the innova Roc3. absolutely love it for side arm flex shots
and the joker disc that can do too much, the westside tursas. standing still, slightly hyzer, throw pretty hard and it just makes the perfect s curve. but taking a runup and throwing at hyzer and it just flips up to flat and stays there.
I carry 5 putters, 10 mids, and 4 drivers. Mids are the only thing that works with my game and also my favorite thing to throw. I use drivers for more approach and technical shots
When do we get to see Jonathon do a forehand clinic? And I want to see our boy do some rollers!!!
We have one here:
czcams.com/video/M9EcILx2BrU/video.html
But I think we´ll get back into the forehand more as well.
Recycled Fuse my favorite mid and my goto. Wish had gotten a few backups when I had the chance.
I got two. Got them in 2010 I believe. A light one for really bending around trees and a heavy for my straight hyzer flip
This series is great guys! I'm a regular Innova thrower, but this is teaching me so much, keep up the good work.
Riktigt bra!
What is this innåva you´re talking about?? Haha glad you like the videos. Tack!
@@Latitude64 Haha I felt so bad for writing it xD My favorite disc of all time is still the River :D
@@hugodiscdyes Haha nah nah no problem.
I really like my Trust. Seems to be one of my furthest flying mid ranges. Don’t have a genuinely understable mid… My straight mid is my Claymore, so Jonathan is currently bagging at least 2 discs that I bag. 👍🏻
hey I use the claymore too! Ultra-beginner here tho
Star mako3 is my favorite mid
Yup, Fuse for understable, Claymore for stable, Mace for overstable. When I wonder what disc to throw I grab the Claymore it is my favorite disc.
Love those midranges... my arm speed isn't all that fast - 1 month in to this.
My favourite disc is Saint from Latitude
Jonathan is getting a pretty good throw now..Keep working on trying to throw it lower and nose down and you could be pretty good man..I'm coming up on a year of playing disc golf myself and I'm still working on trying to always keep my throws nose down and low consistantly.
Thank you. Yeah that nose angle is really hard to keep consistant. Have you found a thing that helps more than not? /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 I wish....watching yourself on video is a pretty good way to notice what you're doing...Watch the video back in slow motion frame by frame and see if you notice a dip in your swing, or change in swing plane..Then slow you swing speed down until you can keep a straight pull through most of the time..don't really worry about where the disc goes yet. Continue to throw faster and faster stopping at each speed until it you can throw it good most of the time...It is a way to program the "sliding it across the board" level swing you want into muscle memory with the goal being not having to think about each step to the throw because thinking too much during the throw can mess you up...Good luck
I very rarely throw mid ranges. But when i do its either a westside tursas, innova mako3 or a kastaplast kaxe z
I been wanting to try out both a Fuse and a Claymore.
Realy nice discs!
Okay, where can I get Johannes' pants? Those are also super sick!
Fuse is excellent disc, so is Trust. Thought the Fuse would have been a better choice on that second "real-world" straight shot. You could have baby anhyzered it just to the right of the tree on the left which was further from where you were throwing than the trees on the right. It would get a slight fade back to the basket if you didn't overpower it.
Hey Dan. Yeah I think that would work as well :)
Yes, especially in opto-x.
I have the pure and fuse in opto-x and I can throw them exactly the same. Super straight. Just the fuse will go 20m farther than the pure.
I bag the Fuse, Claymore, Compass and Anchor
/Jonathan
Even if we had a little difficult start, my Claymores and me became very close friends... I have currently two of them in my bag, a very beat in one for understable throws and one fresh for straight shots. Love those discs! BTW: What happened to the Mace?
I don´t know what happened to the mace. Must look into that.
You should try the West side gatekeeper for your stable mid-range
Maybe I´ll dive into the trilogy pool at a later point :)
one thing that would help me is to have the stats of the disc that u're throwing showing on the screen,
i thought about it at around 6:15 when you brought up the claymore
Totally agree with you! I´ll try to remember this next time :)
I’ve been using drivers for mid range. 😂 I have a Buzzz but I’m not interested in it much.
Opto or Retro Compass. Hands down. If you have intermediate armspeed, you can rip on em and they just go straight forever
bring the fuse back to the shop!!
