★ 4K 🇨🇭 Basel - 🇫🇷 Strasbourg cab ride [01.2023] Führerstandsmitfahrt im Elsass

- In this video, we'll be starting on the first railway built on Swiss territory and continuing our journey on one of the first railways built in France. This line beat the first Swiss railway (The Spanisch Brötli Bahn) by 3 years, with the section connecting Basel in Switzerland and St. Louis in France, opening in 1844.
The first parts of the line opened to traffic in 1840, 13 years after the first French railway. At this stage, the French network only consisted of about 500 km of rails. 1841 saw the majority of the line complete, with the remaining sections being completed by 1846.
The whole region was given over to Germany after the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, until the end of World War I in 1918. This led to the line being optimised for right hand drive operation, which is still the case today.
Germany also opened a connection line between St. Louis and Weil am Rhein, allowing transit from Germany into the Elsass region without the need to pass through Basel. Parts of the line still exist for the industry and docks.

Me too. Loved it 😍 with a right passion !
Ich liebe diese mitfahren ❤❤❤❤
Another great train cab ride and going through
Strasbourg is really great having a very good
view on each side of the tracks from the city
to the country and with all the beautiful scenery
of the huge countryside.
Looking at all the buildings and train stations that
you stop at picking up the passengers as well as
the other trains passing by and every time i watch
the train cab rides it feels like I'm actually there
and until your next train cab ride Thank You.

The videos keep getting better and better thank you so much! ❤
I agree ☝️!
So does the audience!
@@lorirocks777 absolutely 👍 💯
Keep up 🆙 da good 👍 work, L777!!!
Great to see some views from the cab in this part of the world. A few local lines out of Strasbourg would be a great watch also.
Agreed :)
Ottimi video, descrizione completa, ottima qualità. bravissimi!
I've driven ( as in road and my Ford Focus) between Stras and Basel many times and it is wonderful to see the route from a different perspective...Thank you
I know the feeling! Thanks for watching.
Not used to seeing a train in France driving on the 'wrong' side!
This is standard running practice in Alsace, France.
See the world : At Large.
This is probably the _only_ SNCF service that runs on the right track, not on the left track. It's a legacy of the time when this part of France was part of the old German Empire.
So nice to actually see something! I've taken this train twice and both times windows were so dirty that I couldn't see anything!
Lol
amazing videos. Very defined and see you next time
I took this trip in reverse exactly a year ago next week. It’s just a lovely trip, so scenic. Thanks for posting this!
Danke
Thanks for the ride in the cab!Strasbourg is a beautiful city!
Splendido !! ❤
One of the things I always enjoy is seeing the snow. The last recorded snowfall in Sydney OZ was in 1836.
Bon voyage depuis l'Allemagne !
Lovely !! Merci Team France😀
Thanks for the ride and the Country side is nice and green.
Jolie vidéo à grande vitesse. Merci pour la visite de l'Alsace. Amicalement.
Hope to see more of 'unseen' France and also Spain. :)
merveilleux !👍
MDR
Great video friend, greetings from Brazil.
Nicely done, thank you! Looks like you'll eventually be able to stitch together a run of the classic Train 96 and its satellites (Brussels-Luxembourg-Basel) \m/
Great
Greetings from Bale Suisse
Thank you for another superb video! As I have visited Alsace, and about 15 years ago travelled on this line, I was not surprised by the right-hand running. What astounded me was the fact that the trains on this route are now regular interval and rigidly every 30 minutes. (We passed a train going the other way every 15 minutes!). See European Tail Timetable table 385. This 'taktfahrplan' is not something you expect in France, except on routes around Paris. Note, judging by the crowds on the platforms (even at St Louis), this service is extremely well used. The rest of France should take note.
Absolut empfehlenswert 💪👍
Merci beaucoup
I put this on background with my noise cancelling earphones every time i work in a cafe. Anyway, 200 vmax?? That's a lot faster than Deutchebahn's regular trains right? (not the ICE or the S-bahn, the medium speed ones)
Fahre gerade mit....💪💪😊😊😊
Mulhouse and Strasbourg have different but beautiful stations as well as BASEL SBB. Nice Cabride!!!!!
Geiles video weiter so
J'adore les train
My favorite 🎉❤
Very nice video, likes from me😀.
The line is so straight, they should rebuild it to a high speed line so they can run TGV's at 300 km/h
TGV’s are able to 220km/h on this line :)
220 is good enough. Distances between stations are not big. Once you reach top speed you already have to slow down again.
+Regional traffic still has to fit into the timetable.
Vielen Dank!
God bless you
Wonderful video as always😊😊. Is it possible to do a long night run as well in France? I would love to see that
Thanks. We'd have to get a better camera for that, but it is possible.
I am amazed at the widespread use of double-slips; something not favoured by UK railways.
Mi piacciono tanto i vostri video.
Plenty more videos coming from France
Doesn't the v200 section after Mulhouse start way earlier than staffelfelden?
très belle vidéo sincères félicitations J-C ELSDORF LIEGE BELGIQUE
Merci beaucoup.
♥
An easy route to drive but must be a hard route to learn as there are few natural markers and the man made bridges and structures seem very similar.
The 07:16 movie's real catenary power voltage change has from 15kv to 25kv.
From South Korea 🇰🇷.
No, the voltage is 25 kV 50 Hz from Basel SNCF tracks.
Amazing cabride. Have you filmed swedish trains any time? I wonder. Great video also!
I don't have any contacts there yet.
Actually did this trip on Saturday, 29 April [dep 1221 - arr 1339] this year (2023), and returned on Friday 05 May [dep 1051 - arr 1208]!! 😀🛤🚝
Thank you for an excellent video…a bit faster than I used to travel along this route in the 1960s and 1970s! It was great to be able to view the Vosges mountains in the distance too.
Query: Can you explain why French train drivers sound their horns just as they pass a complete train going in the opposite direction? Is it to inform the other train’s staff their train is complete? I think this practice is a French tradition as I don’t think I’ve heard it elsewhere. Many thanks for excellent trip with much incidental information. Regards, from Rob in Bournemouth, Southern England.
Trams in Switzerland do this too. It's to warn anybody about to cross the line behind a train that a train is approaching on the other track.
46:05: Une HLE13 (1314) de la SNCB !!!!
Je suis de Liège en Belgique 🇧🇪
Même si je préfère le matos Suisse !!!
Fc From Thailand 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
As the train runs at a maximum speed of 200 kph, I would like to know if there is any in-cab signalling like LZB or ETCS which are used in Austria and Germany at speeds higher than 160 kph.
The KVB only.
@@likornnoir Thanks!
Interesting historical news. So this line runs from Basel already on 25 kVolts?
Correct
what time did this train leave?
I assume in same time as in yesterday ??? 🥸
How many kW has the Locomotive?
5600kW
@@gm_0713 7510 horsepower !!!🥸
200 klm un beau voyage. N
15th birthday party
Why do they blow the horn after passing an oncoming train?
I am imaging to warn someone trying to cross the tracks on foot after the other train has passed?
I think so, specifically railway workers
@@lorirocks777 Exactly
It's for that reason yes
waar is de grens
C'est trop nul
A pity that the landscape is so bland and flat
👍👍👍👍💯
