There’s quite a few things you can do for little, or no, money. I don’t know where your tires start to break loose in the burnout, but dropping 10-12psi in those rear tires and getting your RPM up closer to that burnout point, will shave time off those 60’, 0-60, 1000’ and 1/4 mile. You’re doing a great job with the build and your presentation of the videos.
Good job. That 305 is running very strong., Running 14.0 is damn impressive! I am dialing in a 770 holley vacuum secondary carb. Bought a AFR gauge. Welded in the 02 bung. Got it all working. I got my idle circuit already dialed in. The AFR gauge is a great tool. It’s running pig rich on part throttle so going to step down a couple jets. The primary’s are # 70 Going to try #66 and see what the AFR gauge says. The secondary jets from the factory are 75 and it’s running lean going to try a set of # 79 jets. You will love the AFR gauge .

Coming along nicely. A looser converter will really wake that thing up. If the cam you are putting in moves the power band up you may end up leaving even softer so I'd definitely look into a converter. I have a aod foxbody heavy vert at that and the difference my 3500 converter made was night and day. I'm pulling 1.7 60' times now compared to 2.3s before. Sadly it's time for mine to hibernate as well as I'm in Northern Indiana right at the michigan line myself..
I like your cam choice, but I think bumping you compression up will help to keep it from being too soggy down low. It's probably about 8.6:1 right now. While it's apart, pull the heads and have them shaved .030 or .040 then re-install with felpro 1094 gaskets (.015 thick). That will get it up around 9.3 and you'll have less than 100 bucks in the mod.
I’d love to see some aftermarket cylinder heads get thrown on there, I know you swapped the heads but factory stuff simply just can’t compare too how good aftermarket sbc heads are nowadays. Would really bring er to life! They could really bring up the compression ratio too with the right chamber size, combined with that cam your putting in you can spin some serious rpm’s with a 305

this has been a fun series to watch, and it's nice to get an idea of what you get from each modification. i also have a 305, but it's in an el camino. i was thinking about doing a head upgrade also, but with vortec heads. the wallace racing calculator says you gained about 50hp with your head swap. i wonder how accurate that is, if the difference is attributed t weather conditions also, maybe. if a guy actually gets that much out of a head swap that would be awesome.
I love mechanical secondaries but i have stick shifts, i always read a properly set up vacuum secondaries is better, especially for autos. You had two different types of Holley carbs so that is not apples to apples, first more street carb, and second more race (reguardless of how secondaries are actuated)... car running and moving good!

I've been saying for years that the double pumper mechanical is the only way to go. Even though technically according to holley website a vacuum secondary is the right one for your application. Double pumper is supposed to be for light cars with big power. Maybe in the right hands the vacuum secondary would be better. But in my opinion, just like you showed in this video the double pumper is better. I don't know everything, but I think the stall is what makes it work with a double pumper. Awesome job that car is getting pretty fast for a 305. I also just sent my 305 to the machine shop today to get it bored 30 and cleaned up and stuff. I am really looking forward to see what that cam does.
Just discovered your channel and subscribed. I picked up an 88 305tbi in November. Ive been debating either building the motor up or swapping it out. You're definitely inspiring me to build up the motor that came with the car
Im surprised you went with such a low rpm tq. Converter being such a small cu. In. engine, and the fact that you plan on putting that 230 @ .050 duration cam in there. A 3500 stall would have been much better, heck i put in a 4k, and wish i would have put in a 4500 stall, in my street ride. I had that sbc comp cam in my old camaro, it sounded, and performed Awesome! That comp cam will really make a big difference from 4k to 6k! But i think your 60ft. will not improve, until you get a higher stall speed tq. Converter, and if you do, go with a tight 4k, with Nitrous anti-Ballooning plates, for when you hit it with that sniper 150Hp kit!
I couldn't tell if you put it back but the radiator air dam is needed, or it will try to over head on the freeway. Bird nose deflects all the air without it. 🎉
I'm running the 12-210-2 with 1.6 rockers that give it similar specs to the 12-212-2 in a 9:1 355. I dont remember what stall you put in the bird....but, You are going to want a 3000 stall converter behind your 305 if you are not wanting the 60 foot to suffer man. I love where you are going with the build though.

You'll miss the front lower air dam when it starts to run hot. Thats a part that needs to stay on

I think it’s missing transmission upgrade and a torque converter
It has a torque converter , but it may not be enough.
