Always go to outdoors vitals first for any apparel or gear purchase. Don’t always go with their products but I do select their stuff more times than not. Reason for this is all of the effort they put into providing knowledge and information. I will admit that their videos have encouraged me to be more active and all of the products I have from them have performed to my expectations and even better in most cases. Plus I like supporting smaller businesses that seem to appreciate their customers.
Thanks guys. I'm a big fan of your transparency, honesty, and character. That goes a long way for me. The new motto makes a lot of sense, and totally fits what you are and what I've discovered I'm looking for. My budget isn't humungous but I will continue to purchase and support where I can. At least for now, I'm planning my first 100 mile in 2024 along the Colorado trail.
Tayson I would love to see OV partner together with a thru hiker that you fully outfit to see how the gear works day in and out for months at a time.
You have the perfect testing grounds for weekend trips or even week long trip but to truly test if it functions longer term it needs to be Thru hiked with long term.
Fellow Utahn here :) I thought it was pretty cool to be able to swing in to your shop try on some of the jackets and buy the 0 degree quilt in person. You guys have a lot going on for you. Hopefully you can navigate/survive this turbulent time in the economy. I'm rooting for you!
❤ from 🇮🇪
I have a number of your products and am very satisfied with them. I am glad to hear that the company is succeeding productively. I do not back pack or run but ride motorcycles and camp and space is at a premium. So small is good for motorcycle camping not so much for weight. I like your sleeping pad and bags and pillow because they take up so little space. There is a company that is a one owner in Pennsylvania called Moto Camp Nerd that only sells on line. The two of you are my main suppliers for my camping needs. I really like your products. So Thank You for what you do.
over the last few years, I have completely changed all my backpacking clothing to OV and have no regrets.
looking forward to new products and a new year.
Thanks for taking the time to be so transparent. It makes a huge difference. Been a fan of a lot of your products that strike a great performance/weight/price balance.
One bit of critical feedback: the messaging that the most ultralight gear is only suitable for milder conditions and pursuits is largely false. Many thru hikers travel thousands of miles on all of the long trails with extremely low base weights. The ultralight cottage industry has to constantly push against this false “ultralight is not durable” narrative. Let’s lift all the boats in our little niche of the outdoors industry rather than push down on others doing just as good work in their craft.
It would be great if the 100 mile challenge would start in February or the beginning of the year. Most of my hiking is before June.
Brilliant! Performance first ultralight gear. I always look to OV first for gear and really enjoy your podcasts.
Outstanding presentation Tayson. A comment from me would be sizing. I’m a big guy, XL pants but only a 30” inseam. I am pretty dialed in on the upper wear you produce. Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing!
I'm hoping to see a ultra tnt tent in the next couple years I think i seen one in one of your videos!!
Looking forward to 2024. Going to be a great year. And I love tuning in to see you connecting with your customer base. How many people know who the CEO/President of these major brands under umbrella corporations are. Keep at it and people with stay with you. Getting a good product that a company, and a specific person, stands behind is powerful. Some of this is expensive gear in a competitive market. Personalizing the experience can be the deciding factor in the purchase.
Thank you for the feedback and support.
Great presentation of OV past and future.
Thanks
Love OV and I just subscribed ✅ Have number of products and love them!
If you’re bored and need someone to backpack with, let me know 😂😂 I’d fly out in a heartbeat with y’all!
I just finally picked up the membership, Ive been super impressed by the stuff you guys have been putting out the last couple of years. Will be buying the Skyline here when it starts warming up. Can't wait.
Much appreciated!
Love your products thanks guys.
BTW you guys should do a challenge or CZcams hiking trip and inviting a guest like a customer on an epic hiking adventure. 3-5 day or something.
So glad you’re a privately held company (and a fellow Utahn)! The company I work for recently went public and I cringe at the decisions they are making now for the sake of shareholder demands. I would so much rather work for, and buy from, a private company because they make decisions in the best interest of their customers, not the shareholders!
Once you get to know and use the products the performance aspect is a given. Having purchased many OV products I can attest to the quality as well as the performance aspect. I couldn’t be happier with all my purchases.
Thanks for sharing!
I understand your new philosophy and the philosophy of use for your products as I own several.
I believe you're gonna see the "ultralight" fad of the gram weenies will become few and far between. I believe the pendulum is swinging more into the center. My experience just like the experiences I see among a lot of the CZcams communities, is that the folks who were going extreme ultra light have now been slowly reverting back to center. They've either done this by trading out their super light gear for more robust yet marginally heavier gear or adding back in items they took out.
I do believe ounces do turn into pounds and that equals pain, but on your big three I believe quality and performance should be the priority and not simply saving an ounce. I won't sacrifice quality to save an ounce.
Weight is very important to me,but I urge people to be sensible about it. Purchasing A 7 denier top material quilt that your toenail rips through to save an ounce is silly.
A rain jacket that is less durable, but an ounce lighter isn't ideal either because that could be your barrier against hypothermia.
I like it. "Performance based ultralight".
Great as always! We have been enjoying the OV gear here in Colorado. Always impressed with the quality and value. Hope to see you all in person in a few months!
Enjoyed this update! I just purchased your Storm loft 15 quilt for my Appalachian trail thru hike 2024. It makes me feel good to purchase from a company that cares about what they are doing and, let’s face it, it’s the most squishable piece of backpacking gear EVER 😂 👏
I am still upset of never receiving my pillow. Oh well we must move on. I'm looking forward to seeing your 2024 releases.
Email us to see what happened.
Congratulations on 10 years! Bought my first OV piece of gear in 2023 and sure won't be my last.
I think PackIt Gourmet is the other food you added this year, and I'm so happy you did! LOVE their food, and love that I can stop by the showroom in Cedar and pick some up for last minute camping plans :D
Also, just came back to say that those tall size men's nova pro jackets I've heard rumblings about....I know at least one string bean of a husband who would buy one as soon as it hit the shelves. Just fyi 😚😚
We are glad this is a great addition for you!
I'd love to see a Shadowlite in red
I appreciate this and appreciate and support cottage brands. I’ve said at least 20x now, I wish you could incorporate some sort of try before you buy, rent, no risk to you option. At the very least, I’d appreciate a response as I have never had one.
Being a direct to consumer small business this model would not work for us. Maybe a larger company that has the resources could do that. Do you know of any outdoor brands that currently do that? We would love to know more about it.
Looking forward to following your journey in 2024! If you're looking for new trail running testers and RunTuber reviews, hit me up! I'm an avid trail runner living in northern Colorado. I'll be running my first 100 miler this year (UTE100 in southern Utah), and I have a dream to through hike all 500+ miles of the Colorado Trail (in one go). Cheers!
Come see us in Cedar City, UT!
Any thoughts on using alpaca material?
Attacking the JMT this year . From Virginia , hopefully I get a voucher from rec.gov . Will be using 100% outdoor vitals gear . ❤
Does Outdoor Vitals ship to Europe? Would love to get myself some gear items to try and review on my channel.
Yes, we ship to most countries.
When will you be releasing more information about (and opening registration for) the 2024 100 mile challenge?
I feel like a I’ve already been waiting months for specifics.
March?
Keep in mind this might shift slightly, but I wanted to give you an idea.
Registration will begin March 1st.
Training Window: April - June
Trip Window: July 1 - Sept 30
@@liveultralightpodcast I appreciate that you took the time to respond. At least I have a bit of certainty and can mark my calendar. Thanks for the update.
I just wanna know what shirt you was wearing on the trip you just did with the influencers. It was a purplish colored shirt.
Tern Hoodie

@@liveultralightpodcast Thanks!!!
Another comment. Seniors. We have the time. We have the money. We’re not often you tube influencers, but we’re out there, big time. We care about UL, but also care about comfort. Value us. Market to us. If I saw a 60+ female talk about your products, I’d be influenced.
Smart angle
You were in the reserves or National Guard? Just clarifying because 99% of the time someone uses the term “weekend warrior “ that is what is being implied.
Economy sucks because of how people voted…. Please everyone take notice of that.
