I am from a province somewhere in the Visayas. I went to Manila to study sometime in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. I was in a mall with my friends one day and I saw Borgy for the first time. My family, especially my mom, are loyalists and I immediately knew who he was. He was just starting to dabble in showbiz nun, I believe. Medyo malayo sya sa akin habang naglalakad. Tinitigan ko sya talaga. I think he felt that someone was staring at him at tumingin sya sa group namin. I think he saw me looking at him. There was something in his eyes, I just didn’t know how to describe it. Parang conscious sya. May halong lungkot, apprehension, defiance but meekness din. Parang nag a-anticipate sya na awayin sya or what. I felt a bit sad. But that was just my interpretation. Sandali lang yun pero hinding-hindi ko yun makakalimutan. I think we were about the same age then. Gusto ko sanang lumapit and just shake his hand, to let him know that my family are loyalists, to tell him that no matter what, maraming nagmamahal sa pamilya nya. Pero nahiya ako and I don’t think my friends would have understood where I was coming from. I don’t know din if he would be receptive to it kasi baka awkward para sa kanya. But until now, in my mind’s eye, very clear pa rin yung moment na yun. After I graduated and came back home sa province, I told my mom about it. She smiled tapos parang sinisi pa ako. Sabi nya “ Sana man lang, kinamusta mo. “😅 Eh, sa nahiya ang lola mo eh. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m just glad that the Marcoses never stopped loving the Filipino people despite everything they went through. If my mom were here, she would have been so happy to see a Marcos back in Malacañang. More power to you, Mam Imee and family. I’m still and always will be a loyalist.
