  • After Hearing The News Of Ray Thomas' Sudden Death I Decided To Make A Tribute To Him Using His Song From His 'Hopes, Wishes & Dreams' Album "The Last Dream"
Hopes Wishes & Dreams Full Album Here: • Ray Thomas-Hopes Wishe...
I Hope You All Enjoy! -Classica Corsair
To My Favourite Moody Blue, I Will Miss You So Much
    May You Rest In Peace
    Here Are The Lyrics:
A simple man had the strangest dream
He stood in a garden of flowers
    That overlooked the sea
    And there sailing by
Were his truth and his lies going home
While all around the sweetest sounds
    Filled the air with love
    They made his senses pound
    He saw with open mind
His life turn with the tide to go home
Memories of youth had passed before
He and he alone could count the score
For he was free he was free
    This was his last dream
Such melodies are made to sing
The mellow sounds within a thousand violins
    Caught upon the breeze
They play in harmony sweet harmony
At last he knew his act was through
With no applause and no encores
    Though the house was full
    So bring the curtain down
    Lay him in the ground
    For he's gone home
Memories of youth had passed before
He and he alone could count the score
Now he is free he is free
    This was his last dream
Note This Was For Entertainment And That None Of It Is Mine!

An essential voice of the Moody blues, I always loved his voice in particular, but loved all their music. For 52 years I have listened to them, always finding new elements in the mix. I've seen them only twice live, once with Ray and once after Ray retired with Norda Mullen. She fills the role with the flute and adds a new dimension with her voice, but sadly we'll never hear Ray sing "For my lady".

Ray Thomas, like all the Moodies, was an old soul with a spiritual side that informed his compositions and made him a rare talent that didn't seek out the limelight or the excesses of rock stardom. I truly thought that he had the best natural voice of any of the band members -- which is saying a lot because Justin Hayward has a similar tone and was the most recognizable voice in the group.
