- Today I install my new SW Motech micro tank bag on my KTM 890 adventure. This small bag is the perfect size for everyday riding and the quick release mount is super fast and sturdy!

On the rain cover, you fold in the first draw string section into the rain cover when the micro is not expanded, and when you extend the bag, you pull down the first draw string section and use that one to secure the rain cover.

Youve put it on the wrong way round Red tab and handle should be at the front
The mounting ring on the KTM has to be reversed due to how the gas cap opens so the red tab is in the back. The bag itself can go either direction.

@@infosponge yes but it is still the wrong way. You have to reverse the base of the tankbag. There is a hole to enter the red tab inside in the other direction too.

@@infosponge of course, I call it "wrong" way because when you open the tankbag, the top part goes against your body making the things a little bit harder to take things from inside
i have the same one on my 890 duke. probably shoulda went with the next size up…next time. excellent video

Does the SW Motech cable lock, with locking pin at the right place on the bottom of the bag, still work?
I haven’t tried it, but I assume it would work. I will talk to the reps in a couple weeks at the Overland expo and see what they have to say.

Hey mate, great install vid. I have a Norden 901 ( brother bike to yours ) would you recommend it? I'm after magnetic & small non bulky bag just to put phone, wallet charging cables etc in. What do you think?

Yes, the bag volume expands from 3-5L and is slightly longer than an 0.5L bottle.
Do you know if the PRO Daypack tank bag fits the 890 R 2023?
Probably, but it may interfere with the bars a bit.
Does the bag come with the lock ring? Or is the lock ring bike specific and an extra cost?
They are sold separately since the locking rings are fit to specific bikes.
Looks backwards
It is, it can be mounted both ways. The mounting ring on the KTM is backwards so this way works best for me.

SW MOTECH doesn’t list for a 890 adventure?
Part number is in the description. Don’t think it fits the 2023 though.
So I couldn’t find the tank ring on Amazon with the one you have listed.I could only find the bag. My husband has the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure. Could help me with what tank ring he needs. And does the mounting plate come with the bag or do you need to buy that separate? Thank you.
Here is the response from support: “At this time, we do not know if that tank ring will work. That bike is/will be going through R&D in Germany this month and if a tank ring we already have in production fits, it should be released on our website fairly soon. If not, we will have to wait for manufacturing to occur and that can take several weeks. I would recommend to keep checking our website weekly or reach back out to us later this month to see if we have any new updates.”

No, the micro is too small.
Still too big. Shame they don't make an actual micro version.
If it was any smaller I don't think it wouldn't be very useful.

Yes, they make mounts for a bunch of bikes.

@@infosponge Indeed. Though the red cord's direction is defined by the mounting of the ring (so you can get it to match the handle location or weirdly have it on the very other end. This is defined how you mount the horse-shoe element. Thanks for the review, it made me buy one and love it. Nice premium SW premium build and quality.
