I bought a 357 Sig barrel made by Bar-Sto for my Dads Glock 23 (40 S&W) as a drop in caliber change. It's very accurate and hit HARD. He handloads for it and the light loads are really like shooting a 9mm. The heavy loads while nearly the same as a 125 gr 357 mag load (9mm 124gr in the 357 SIg) it's not at all unpleasant to shoot. I also bought him a 9mm conversion barrel so he can shoot 3 different calibers in the same gun. He loves it.
I carry a G22 but I’d be just as happy, possibly more happy, with a 31. I’m a tall guy with big hands, so I strongly prefer full-size pistols. Carried subcompacts for years, but I’m just SO much better with the big ones, especially when I practice with the winter gloves I use from November through March.

I carried a Beretta 92 and an HKUSP 45 for over three decades while at work. But for off-duty, I carried the smaller stuff and now I’m liking them compact Glock 19 sizeD guns all over agai. It’s all about the bigger grip and a “bigger hammer” deserves a bigger grip.
Yeah the compact or mid-sized are as small as I will go anymore. I had an HK45, absolutely fantastic gun. Extremely accurate and easy to shoot, even hot +P ammo was very minimal in recoil and easy to shoot quickly. Sold it and got the HK45C. Definitely easier to carry, but also definitely harder to shoot accurately and quickly. Still a rock-solid gun, but I definitely should’ve kept the full size model.
I carry a Glock 32 Gen 3 every day with Underwood Xtreme Defender. I have a LoneWolf barrel and recoil spring in it and some Ameriglo night sights. Sometimes I carry an extra mag and sometimes I don’t. But there’s not a single time I ever feel undergunned or unprepared no matter where I am. In my opinion the best self defense round you can carry. Plus Glock reliability. Really just can’t be beaten

This gun DOES catch up to 357 Magnum velocities and power, but only if you use the hottest ammo on market, like the Underwood Ammo. Then you can get 1475+ FPS velocities with the 125 grain rounds.
You aren't catching up to the 9x33mm(.357 Magnum) with a 9x22(.357 SIG). Don't get me wrong, the .357 SIG is a great round, possibly the best auto pistol calibre, but an equivalent 125gr .357 Magnum will get more like 1,600fps.
@jonathanredfern3359 4" 686 will do 1450 -1500 fps actual velocity with 125 gr. This is exactly the same performance I get with Glock 32 with twice the capacity.
@@Ivakin81 No, Buffalo Bore 125gr gets over 1,600fps out of a 4" barrel. Their 158gr ammo gets velocities comparable to your 125gr .357 SIG. The .357 SIG is a great round, but you're kidding yourself if you think it's comparable with the .357 Magnum, which has a case 50% longer. Not to mention there are plenty of 8 round .357 Magnum revolvers now.

Comparing equivalent Buffalo Bore ammo in 4" barrels, the .357 SIG gets 1,425 fps and 570 ft lbs of energy, while the .357 Magnum gets 1,600 fps and over 800 ft lbs. You're kidding yourself if you think those are even close to being comparable. We have revolvers with bottom barrels like the Chiappa Rhino and ported barrels like the S&W L-Comp that compensate for any difference in bore axis. Like I said, the .357 SIG is a great round, and you don't have to lie in order to defend it. It's the best calibre that will fit in a 9mm/.40 S&W size frame, even if it's no match for the .357 Magnum, and that's okay. Just be honest about what it can and can't do.
S&W 2.0 40sw M&P. Get a KKM conversion barrel. This is a much stiffer platform. Better grip angle. Better bore axis. Less muzzle flip. Faster follow up etc.

Very informative video. Danke Schoen ! I just got a Glock 33 with two extra mags. One is marked .40 near the top of the flat rear portion of the magazine. The other two are marked .357 . All have different magazine extensions. You clued me in on the magazine follower difference. I think .357 SIG and .40 S & W sell each other. I want a SIG P series in 44-40 Winchester.
Actually it was designed to be a 10mm necked down to shoot a .357 Magnum bullet (125gr), not 9mm. I know they are very similar, but that was the design idea. By the way, great video 👌🏻
I feel it in my palm ... 9mm to me has more muzzle flip ... I shoot .40 and. 357 sig.. primarily... my 2 favorite calibers .... if you've ever shot a wild pig with a 9mm.. you'll understand why 9mm is vastly overrated...
Very nice shooting, and beautiful pistol. Nasty, but beautiful. I own a pristine condition, super-clean G23 .40 S&W Gen 3, with less than 500 rounds through it... and recently, I purchased a G32 conversion barrel (KKM), which I swapped out for my G23 barrel... and it works perfectly with the G23 mags. 357 SIG is very powerful, almost feels like a .357 Mag (to me), but still somewhat manageable. Still, as you suggested or recommended, I don't use my G23 with the G32 barrel for home/self defense, and much more so, at the range. I have other things for self defense, like a Smith 627 Performance Center .357 Mag (which holds 8) and/or a Sig P220 Legion .45 ACP. Since .40 seems to have become so damn obsolete, I will buy a brand new G32 one of these days... maybe when they release the Gen 5? Great review, thanks bro.

Just get a .357 SIG barrel for one of your existing .40 S&W pistols, or get a .357 SIG pistol and a .40 S&W barrel to go with it. Being able to swap back and forth will sort out any ammo price and availability issues.
See if you can get a 22 or 32 ejector for the 19 lower. You may have a failure at the most inconvenient time. The longer 357sig case is to long and will engage the empty before it can clear the slide.
everything i'm seeing online says the 31 gen 4 barrel is NOT for the gen5 Glock 23 or 22. Something about the gen4 barrel being slightly smaller than the gen 5, so the barrel is too loose in the gen 5 40cal frame.
Yes it can, just drop in a 40 barrel. You can even use the 357 sig mags. You can also get the lone wolf conversion barrel and shoot 9mm. You do need to use 9mm mags when you do that. I have shot all 3 calibers through mine with no problems

What's strange about an accurate, flat-shooting round that is reliable and hits hard? Not to mention you can easily swap back and forth between .357 SIG and .40 S&W with just a barrel change. Sounds like a winner to me.
@@RadDadisRad It's around, and when it isn't, you can still get .40 S&W. There's nothing unusual about necked pistol cartridges. They have been in use since at least the Mauser 7.63x25mm in 1896, not to mention the Tokarev 7.62x25mm and the 5.7x28mm, among others.

Before you start changing out parts do you think it might be better to inquire about the trouble you are experiencing with a gunsmith first being that there's no luck with Glock customer care service? My 229 is 9mm, but my 226 is .357 sig.
Sadly SIG currently offers nothing in the caliber.
The only thing I don't love about .357Sig is the ammo availability and cost. I have a Sign P229 and Glock 32 both in this awesome caliber.

The recoil is a "back in the palm of your hand" recoil.357 Sig has been my fav round for a long time now.The G32 Gen 3 or 4 fits the bill nicely.

I believe the Gen 4 followers for 357sig and 40 cal are now the exact same dimensions. Earlier 357 sig followers had a different dimension.
I have a G29 and have two change out barrels. 357sig , 9x25 Dillon all three have about the same recoil.
Recoil is kind of a thump to me but very manageable

Yes it can, just drop in a 40 barrel. You can even use the 357 sig mags. You can also get the lone wolf conversion barrel and shoot 9mm. You do need to use 9mm mags when you do that. I have shot all 3 calibers through mine with no problems

Average 10mm ammo doesn’t produce 700 ft/lbs of energy.
Pretty much all full power carry ammo will generate that or higher. If you're using weak ammo, that's a problem with you, not the calibre.

Gun manufacturers cut it as well. When I want to carry something with more power than my 9mm I carry my 10mm..End of story

357 sig is such a strange round. Not one I would ever consider.
What's strange about an accurate, flat-shooting round that is reliable and hits hard? Not to mention you can easily swap back and forth between .357 SIG and .40 S&W with just a barrel change. Sounds like a winner to me.

@@RadDadisRad It's around, and when it isn't, you can still get .40 S&W. There's nothing unusual about necked pistol cartridges. They have been in use since at least the Mauser 7.63x25mm in 1896, not to mention the Tokarev 7.62x25mm and the 5.7x28mm, among others.

Just because you're uneducated about firearms history doesn't mean they don't exist. Try doing some research before you reveal your ignorance.
This particular Glock is garbage. Trust me, it jams frequently. And the Glock provides just a lip service.

@@shawnwhite2417 mine jammed 3 times, including two stove pipes, first two hundred rounds. I have fourteen Glocks. Then they talk about limpwristing...a term invented by Glock, which has flooded the market by garbage, Gen 4 etc.
@@JSwift-jq3wn I hear what you saying loud and clear. I understand how many Glocks you have. According to the way you described the issues such as stove pipes etc, might be you may have a lemon. All my Glocks that I own I never experienced any issues from magazines up to and including my practice and carry loads especially my g 32 or my g 31. None whatsoever.
@@shawnwhite2417 I gave up on Glock dealer service. I am going to replace the magazines with generic .40 and change the extractor. If the problem persist, then I shall take it to a gun smith. The problem is that .357 Sig ammo is so expensive, my favorite caliber. It replaced .45, .40 and 9mm. Maybe that's why is not selling...
@@JSwift-jq3wn Yeah I agree the ammo for sig 357 is very expensive in the 125 grain load. Before you start changing out parts do you think it might be better to inquire about the trouble you are experiencing with a gunsmith first being that there's no luck with Glock customer care service? Let me know what you think.
