I can't believe this! The modesty, the introversiveness, the quality!

I don’t think there is a YT channel that offers more valuable material to classical music fans than yours. I for one deeply appreciate everything you do, sir!

I've heard recordings of Dohnanyi before but I had never seen him play before. What a fiery old man and so relaxed at the piano. Thank you for this gem!

As charming as it gets! The great musician, who was so truly underappreciated in the universe of 20th century musicians, was truly adored by many great pianists who played his music! His playing reveals the old world control and voice leading.

A great find and surprisingly good sound recording. How wonderful to hear a great composer play his own works. Hope the other episodes still exist!

This was so fascinating, it was like Brahms, Liszt and others were brought to life

Wonderful to see and hear him speak, as well as play, a true master and successor to Liszt (within Hungary, along with Bartok, although they took very different paths). A great technician as well as composer.

The vigor, energy, and youth with which he addresses the keyboard totally erases his 80 years--it's stunning. Yet when he is speaking in the interview he rocks back and forth and it's hard to tell if it's because of energy overflowing from his playing or because of some mild neurological issue that the act of playing the piano cancels. Or maybe it's just an Old World vestigial habit.

Anyone who doesn't know his piano concerti would do themselves well to buy the album from Hyperion. It was one of the first releases in their Romantic Piano Concerto series. (#5 or #6 if I remember correctly).
