  • Join me another day of my travel diary series as we exploring an old Japanese Castle - Maruoka Castle in Fukui Prefecture.
Maruoka Castle is one of only 12 original heritage castles remaining in Japan. Enjoy the stunning views, learn interesting facts about the castle's structure, and let's walk around the beautiful castle grounds.
We'll also have an amazing and affordable Soba lunch at a small restaurant right next to the castle.
Don't miss this adventure, and stay tuned for a house tour in the upcoming video!

Incredible castle. Amazing how thick those planks of wood are. Trees just aren't that large anymore. Thanks for the tour!

Thank you for the kind words! I'm actually planning another trip for the end of this year. There are so many amazing shrines and castles, I feel you could spend a life time trying to see them all.
Most older shrines didn't use any nails or anything, the wood structure was all interlocking. It really is incredible how they managed to build things with such massive interlocking pieces.
