Mines missing the plastic piece inside of the choke.. is that bad for grounding? or could it go without? Thanks!

ilikefunkymusic from ratsun here. Question: at about 40 seconds in the video you can see this part I'm gonna ask about. In the video it's just to the right of the choke; on the vehicle it is just forward of the choke. 4 screws hold it to the carb. The little thing has a gasket that seals it to the carb. What is it? It looks like mine might have a little leak, or issue with the gasket.
    Cheers!

I am not 100% sure we are talking about the same widget, but I think you are referring to the accelerator pump. A new diaphragm is available in redlines rebuild kit for that accelerator pump. Feel free to send me a photo of it in a Ratsun dm or my Instagram @captains_garage

@@Captain720 I googled weber accelerator pump and it confirms that it is the part! Thanks buddy. Recon a seeing a leak around that gasket could contribute to difficulty in starting the old girl?

Well to be honest I have a similar thing going on! I have a redline kit just waiting for me to do a rebuild on the ol Weber. Mine isn't starting quite as good as normal and also has a small leak at the accelerator pump

The cable connected to the carburettor is positive or negative ?!

It's 12 volts positive, the choke grounds through the base.
