The Explorer II off-road handcycle , is a hand powered trike for people with disabilities, however it can bring a lot of fun also for able bodied. We created this handcycle so that break the boundary of mountain biking and allow the disabled persons to reach what until now was impossible. Now we at SPORT-ON believe that we have succeeded!

That looks like a blast! Those are some amazing looking machines. I can't imagine doing some of those climbs with my legs, let alone with just my arms. Big props to all the riders.
They should make an e-bike version with a throttle control
E bike version would be insane. Make it happen
That was unexpectedly more inviting than I thought it would be.
i cant help but feel this was defiantly meant for going downhill
Or spider ppl
definitely
This is amazing, and a huge advancement in outdoor sporting equipment for persons with disabilities! Rock the trails!!
This is epic! It's like a combination of 4WDing and mountain biking.
I know they're for people with disabilities, but that looks like fun, and even more fun with a small 125cc engine on it!
and parachute
to whoever came up with this bike. thankyou. I have a friend on manitoulin island that would just love this bike. he broke his back a while back dirt jumping. knowing Justin I'm sure he would ride the wheels off one of these.
We need to show this to doddy on Gmbm he'll love this
That's what im gonna say but you best me on that lol. He would be happy and the gmbn fam.
That’s right he’s got that cool electric mtb thing but this is really cool
Uummmmmmmmmm what about Martyn ? You don’t use your legs and martyn is paralysed. This would be perfect for him
@@thejackandtomshow2776 oh ya, I don't know what I was thinking about but that's what I mean. We need to send this to gmbn and then they should put an electric motor for Martyn!
conner rowland it didn’t need an electric motor. You pedal with hands. He can use his hands....
I want a go ... I'd imagine being that much closer to the ground would pile on the adrenaline at speed ... I could see one next to my usual bike in the garage no problem ... The real world benefits to those of us who can't use an average bike is, as the title suggests, truly AWESOME! Seeing that chap with his kids really spelled it out... Well done to the designer :o)
It needs a 1000 watt hub motor for all 3 wheels and some 4 inch tubeless tires.
Yes they sure are!
Respect from a Portuguese downhiller emigrant in Holland to all the riders worldwide with a physical disability which makes them use the handbike...
I was glad to know by this video that this bike can and will sure be responsible for unforgettable moments of fun!
All I have to say is this is awesome. A company that really gives access to off road cycling to disabled has all my respect. I cant beleive some of the comments below about this though, they dont get the point nor can understand that their way of thinking is what makes life for those without full function of their limbs (or missing limbs) so difficult. Hats off to you guys for taking the time to build this and make it something thats serious and well thought out.
Fantastic! Big BIG BIG respect!!!!
Those are awesome!!! I have 2 working legs that I by no means take for granted and I'd still love to ride on of these things. Imagine strapping a 150cc engine to one of these. That would be the ride of a lifetime.
I'd like a model like this for able bodied people in which you can drive with both your arms and legs. I am a many year experienced road bicyclist and when u travel 100 miles or more uphills have big gains from using a hand to push down on a knee for added drive. The added power of an arm can save you much energy letting you ride further distances than your legs could. I would love a bicycle that has the aerodynamics that this bike offers with the arm and leg drive.
Props for anyone without the use of their legs that do this...what a great idea for the less fortunate to experience the rush...
1st off cool and good for anyone involved in making these products. I just can't help but feel like there is a better design to be had. ;o)
hey that looks likes alot of fun? glad to see everybody having fun have a good day!
it's for people who don't have legs you ignorant fuck
McRagez (Road To 100 Subscribers) dont be mean!
McRagez (Road To 100 Subscribers) Ignorant fuck?? Why ?? Fuck you!
he is a meany!
McRagez (Road To 100 Subscribers) it's not just for disabled people, I would own one any day.
Awesome biking video .Handcycles helps disabled person in enjoying biking.
full on respect to all handcycle riders for showing me what life is all about. It has shown me at a strange time in my life ( recent loss of my father) that life is full of hard knocks, its shown me to pick yourself up, dust yourself of and get back in the saddle and take life by the balls. To never except a life changing event or to ever give up on enjoying what it is you choose to do.
Safe travels, but may there be exciting journeys with many a challenging pathway to an enjoyable destination. Top marks on this vid ;-)
so their bikes are harder to use, less agile and they have severe disabilities and they still look (much) quicker than me. I'd love to see someone doing trials or vert on something like this.
Being paralysed might a be bit of an issue, when you want to ride trials.
@@obi-wankenobi9871 Martyn Ashton should ride one
What a great sense of freedom this bike would provide. Awesome athletes.
Those people are absolutely killin it! Thumbs way up!
It seems like a steering lock that could be engaged and disengaged from either bar could help hugely on technical climbs.
+John M Taylor But why invent something what is already invented? This bike is equipped in chest steering system. You are able to steer when pedaling.
this is great for disabled people
this IS for disabled people
I Tizi Cai it's a great invention, looks good and looks like it handles the rumble.
Fantastic. What an awesome way for people with disabilities to get into cycling. Love It!
I've got my kit on just watching these guys! Truly amazing!
imagine if they put one of those pedal electric assist things on this that they use for bikes it would be ever more sweet
Yes, I would get one today!
how the fuck would a handicapped person pedal?
***** did you watch the video? with their hands fool
LegendaryLeo214 they could add like 3 hub motors and boot along on road or off road
You have to have some stout ass arms for that. I'd probably rig one up with an electric motor on it for the really tough stuff.
I for see a new era of mountain biking, trials, and more
The ski one is dope. Very cool piece of brilliance.
As an Occupational Therapist who has spent a fair bit of time working with folks with a disability or compromised function, I reckon these things rock. Before you throw in a trolling comment as an able bodied rider, spare a thought for what your options might be if you go OTB and become paralysed or lose a leg or two. Main concern that I can see is working out how to minimise the risk of a flail chest injury (see trauma.org/archive/thoracic/CHESTflail.html) on a decent G-out. Looks well engineered though!
Man the cruel asshole comments. These guys are brave, and bad ass.
I think karma will come back on some of these jerk trolls.
20 years from now I will only regret the things I didn't do! Or at least try. The video is amazing.
Much love, much respect.Your only limits, are the ones you set.Get out there and ride!! Good video.
Unfortunately they look like they are more likely to make you even more disabled by rolling over at speed.
XD
LOL
If you are already disabled, what's the risk? At least now you can decide if you want take it, instead of not being able to at all
You say that like if non-disabled people have no risk rolling over at higher speed than handbike.
So don't go too fast... It does have disc brakes on all 3 wheels and a low center of mass. That's a shit ton of braking power.
i wanna put one of those 66cc motor kits on one of these XD
I think this video really deserves my respect
When you can't feel your legs, it's time to get rid of the feeling in your hands. Briliant.
Trying really hard to see any reason to do this over real mountainbiking...not seeing it. Cool build though.
Read the description? It's made for people who can't use their legs.
Elite Muppet love how you just set all the trolls straight!
Lmao, yeah... got a bit carried away.. just had to xD.
This is "real" mountain biking. This offers a totally different workout for those of use that have use of all our limbs, and I'm sure bombing down a mountain face first and low to the ground would be a pretty awesome feeling. Think about what it is like to drive a Ferrari compared to a lifted pick up truck. Ferrari feels faster at the same speed because you are so close to the ground.
Jacob Selman Not a great analogy because a Ferrari doesn't just feel faster because it is low to the ground. It feels faster because it is much, much faster. Besides, this would be a downgrade in performance. Adding wheels adds friction and therefore resistance, not to mention weight. That added resistance would have to be overcome by an increase in the amount of work done. It serves no practical advantage and has the added disadvantage of being too wide for much of the singletrack that we have out here in the West.
these would be class with a little engine on them
+shiro yuki yah........ then you got a MOTORCYCLE !!!!
+plutoplatters dont ya mean a reverse trike or typically called a car =)
...you must love very much mountain biking to ride this kind of bike...but I admire these people
You are motivation and encouragement to all who watch this video
these look so damn fun i want 1 and im not even disabled
Hi Hey IKR would even pay double is the one is GIVEN a disabled person
sent one to gmbn for mytne ashton who's parylised
This guys have rly big balls . Never gives up
This is awesome bike and build quality. Happy that anyone is left behind...
What is this music for your video ?
Well, I just have a couple questions about this handcycle design.
First of all, when pedaling, do you lean to either side to steer?
Also on the topic of pedaling, is hand pedaling harder or more exhaustive than the normal kind?
I also noticed that the cycle can become unstable at higher speeds, this could become a safety concern for the riders. If they're already handicapped, then the cycle falling on you (Even if it's light) Can make things worse, if you aren't already handicapped, then having a cycle crash like that could make you handicapped.
I don't think that tri-wheel handcycles are all that practical. They sound good on paper, and they would be fantastic for anyone handicapped, but not for speed, defenately not for racing, and I don't think that they're really a good idea to be taken off-road from what I saw in this video. I think that they'd be great for cruising, and getting a handicapped person to be on a cycle, but I think that off road, racing and off road racing should be left to the 2-wheeled traditional mountain bikes.
Thanks. This has made me feel happy. Seeing that bike
Wow... That looks like crazy-awesome hi-tech! Nice job!
should be perfect with electric assistance
Yeah then you go over a jump and crack your rib cage... LOOKS GREAT
Great video, great energy and thank goodness for folk like you. Able bodied now - thank the Good Lord, but who knows what the future holds for any of us. I would hate a life without being able to mountain bike and cover big self-powered distances in natural environments. Some great riding skills here too - amazing capability of both riders and bikes. Totally puzzled by dislikes here. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Very inspiring - Dave, Sydney Aust.
Seriously inspirational!
I think Martyn Ashton's bike is better but can't climb
If you are not disabled and can not walk then this is pointless
If you can walk
Davidfish1 exactly and you can't steer when u pedal so it is useless for climbs with turns
you can with the chest...but i think electric motor could be nice in those things..
You steer the bike with you’re chest while peddling. They fat explorer 3 comes with electric drive where the explorer 3 has to have it fitted as an added extra I have just got myself the explorer 3 with the added electronic drive and it cost around £7500 pounds so a lot of money but a great bit of kid. You also don’t need to be disabled to use one of these but for people like myself with leg disabilities this bike it epic.
Freakin amazing - no bounds, love it.
Nice to see them happy :-) like this one!
Those slow pigs are anything but awesome. Using arms instead of legs for motive power is just plain stupid. These bikes are only practical for those with disabled legs.
You don't say...
Wow. Are you serious?
DARIVS ARCHITECTVS From the description:
"The Explorer II off-road handcycle , is a hand powered trike for people with disabilities /../"
Stop being a fucking dumbfuck and read the description. Yes, it's for people with disabilities. STFU and GTFO, idiot.
Jerri Kangasniemi I concede you that point. My apologies for not reading that it a vehicle only for the disabled.
DARIVS ARCHITECTVS Frankly anyone can use this, if they want to use a more inefficient bike for the fun of it, who are you to say they can't? Riding down a hill for now other reason than for shits and giggles is by your definition impractical. Practicality has no basis in sports, no one cares about practicality, people care about having a good time, and having fun. And frankly it doesn't matter how practical your bike is aslong as you and your mates are having a good time.
So fuck off.
im better with 2 wheels.
Luis Jerez im better with a longboard pintail
You realise these are for people who suffer paralysis of their lower limbs or don't have use of them for other reasons. I hope that's the case or what you've said is stupid heartless and quite pitiful that you compare yourself to disabled people.
I'm good with two wheels
+Jaxyn Shankle And a stroker!
talk about skill.. this looks so awesome
Respect! great way to get out and have fun. And for the few bad comments did you not see the end he climbed back in his wheelchair when he was done? He is a inspiration to us all. He has overcome a limitation that some see as a road block.

+SPORT-ON I've already figured out a major improvement for it.
It would be a great physical therapy device, for those who, like me would rather be outside than inside.
+Tango Tulsa very nice
but leg drive chain is better for most people
and its way greater than normal bike cause you see mechanisim closely
and you are too close to the floor
wael Auto.Eng.student Your comment has absolutly nothing to do with what I stated.
bigtlittleodd Yes, these are desgined for that subset of the population. Thus, your comment makes no sense. It has nothing to do with my statement.
O
These things are stupid mountain bikes are better.
Gabe Lewis These are for people without the ability to move their legs.
jjswee oh didn't know that.
Gabe Lewis really?? about you lose the use of your legs , how will you pedal??? u little puke
nando carpi Shut the fuck up idiot did you not just see my comment above yours? Go get your fucking eyes checked you stupid fuck.
my name is Keith I HAVE
CEREBRAL PALSY I TRY
AND DO A Lot
of fun things
this would be
one of many
tjings
Good design and some really awesome trails.
Very inspiring potential of adventure no matter who is into it. That bike looks fun , even for a full electric/gas cruise, like a wider back wheel.
siete grandi!!!!!!!!!!!
voi siete la determinazione fatta persona ,vi ammiro e vi stimo per quello che riuscite a fare uniti da una splendida passione ........mtb.
you are wonderfool!!!!!!
Its built for the disabled? Hell... I just want one because they're COOL!!! Thumbs up!
Personally I believe these would be great fun on a long, smooth down hill road because the feeling of being so close to the ground would be amazing in it's self.
Epic video love anyone who wants to bike no matter what type of background and disability you have it all brings us together as one keep it real keep riding 🤘one love
holy shit , i respect a lot ,this guys have the biggest spirit to move this bike ,it require a lot of energy i wish have this energy
i would like to try one out. Looks like a lot of fun!
I can't understand why there so much negativity in the comments here, I found this video beautiful and Inspirational
Totally Awesome!
Man that looks so fun! And, both able or disabled people can use handcycles. I am building my own this Spring. Not as cool as this one. But, it will work for me.
Respekt für diese Leistung und den Willen
I want one , just love it !
Very Inspiring, brother!
that is AWESOME ....Never give up...Never give in....
Beautiful!!!!
Total respect
never seen this before, looks like fun :)
Absolutely AWESOME......handicap what....no big deal....RIDE ON
Title of video confirmed accurate.
Amazingly good.
Love it! these would be awesome with pedal assist for the uphill parts.
My son would enjoy this but he probably could not get into the sport as much as he would like to. Maybe there will be different configuration allowing him to participate someday! How interesting to see these going down hill like this.
This thing is awesome I suffer from vascular ulcers in a lot of stasis leg problems I couldn't even push the pedal down without being in pain this thing would make riding a bike for me possible again I'm going to look into it
All these guys have the respect to be on wheels up to the end
Great technology for those with spina cord injuries; it is also brilliant for those with the financial means to use for upper body conditioning.
This is great!
Let me let go of the handle bars to pedal with my hands to move at crawling speed. Sounds like fun.
Designed for disabled people who do not have the use of their legs.
This has to go down as one of the best and highly beneficial inventions for people with limited mobility.
Two thumbs up from me to the inventors!!!!
I would ride this even if I wasn't handicapped... but that's cool that they can somewhat get back into the sport of biking...
just. .....RESPECT MAN.
Awesome I can see these replacing wheelchairs one day hope to see that in the near future
that's pretty wicked man I want to ride one
Awesome!!
I feel like I would have an urge to get off of it and attempt to carry it. Overlooking the fact that this would be a great facilitator for the handicapped to be more mobile, two wheels with foot pedals just makes more sense.
and nearly all of my local trails and sidewalks would be too narrow
This bike is made for the disabled...
Thats soo good !
