Greg Tambone gives a brief description of German knife laws, and shows what weapons you can legally carry for self-defense in Europe. It's often believed that all knives are restricted or impossible to carry in the EU, but this video shot live in Bavaria shows otherwise. All of these tools demonstrated here by Mr. Bone are available exclusively through www.BoneTactical.com
Can we all agree that restrictions on weapons in general are problematic.
Ethan Stang yep
Ethan Stang absolutely not
I dont agree 100%. Restrictions on knifes are just dumb. But i dont wanna live in a Country where everyone can carry a gun. Everyone should be able to buy guns after they are well instructet how to use Them but free carry? Nope. Also i think some weapons are just to brutal and awfull to be legal, Like poisoned Bullets or Mass killing weapons

There have been over 300 mass shootings in the US in just 2021. There are many people who are perfectly fine to not be living around a bunch of nutters with guns.
You can own switchblades that open from the side and have a blade under 8,5cm and the same goes for assisted opening knives the only knives you can’t own are balisong knives, gravity knives and oft knives.
I'm soo happy you made this I'm the guy always commenting about German leverlock Springer knives
Ricky KnifeObsessed Dunivan 👊🏼💪🏻🤙🏻
I'm just waiting for the Bone Tactical Skullfister that's actually a tape measure..
Chewedbacca 🤣
Man when I have the money I'm going to buy so many of your products . awesome video like always.
Thank you
I'm so glad I live in Texas switchblades legal butterfly knives legal brass knuckles legal batons legal open carry legal
fractal for a little while at least, let’s see what happens here soon if they declare martial law
@@BoneTactical true I'm more worried about what people do when they're desperate then I am of this virus and I definitely would not comply with any law enforcement they're going to have to kill me.
PS: he can be arrested for having that many knives on him. Regardless of sizes and purpose. 😂 Interpol: Having intentions of defence, and able to do bodily harm to someone is illegal. 😅
I have to correct you on one point: The 12 cm limit only applies to knives with fixed blade. If you could find a folder a 20 cm blade, which is NOT designed to be opened with one hand it would be legal to carry.
remember that the law is only as relevant as the officer enforcing it. Better hope they know that!
@@BoneTactical The officer himself is relatively unimportant. He can easily find some public safety argument, but he'll have to give you a receipt for the knife. The interesting part is if the public prosecutor sees the problem, which he should at the latest when he gets a letter from you thteatening to take thwm to court. The difference between Germany and USA is that the losing party gets to pay the whole bill. This is also why it is rather cheap to insure against legal fees as a private person - I pay 39 EUR a year - so there is nothing to keep me from taking them to court.
So they'd have to give back the knife somehow.
Lino Jakobsen That’s an interesting way to look at it but I take it that you have not been to jail in Germany as I have. The officer has the ability to put you in jail not just take your knife and you have to wait potentially several months in jail to get it all figured out even if you are in the right. So contrary to what you may think it is very important at the personal interaction street level with the officer
Any folder can be opened with one hand.
You missed a thing in regards to category 3:
There are so called "Waffenverbotszonen", where even usually things you can legally carry are forbidden. In this zones the police has the right to search you for this weapons without suspicion of a crime. The problem is this are not only planes courts and things like this but every county can enatct such zones by themselves and they are often around trainstations and certain streets which are supposedly prone to crime. Now the problem is you are often not able to see that you are in such a zone. It`s more something locals know (if they know) and the knowledge is sourced from newspapers or the internet.
Automatic knives that open to the side have one edge and have a blade of under 8,5 cm are legal (if it hasn`t changed this year since they tried to change the weapons law here and make it again more restrictive). On the other hand if you could flick it open with one hand it would be illegal.
The maximum "normal" legal carry length for a fixedblade is 12cm (4,72 inches and yes they can be a..l about it).
If it`s a folder that needs two hands to open it can be as long as you want it to be (if it`s not prohibited to carry because it is "intended to be used as or advertised as a weapon"). The thing with the "intended to be used or advertised as a weapon" is ia ssue of dispute but nevertheless can get you into trouble with the legal system. If you wanted to be "safe" advertise the knives as utility knives, kitchen knives or whatever but not as a self defense tool.
In regards to knives and other self defense tools there also exists so called "BKA Feststellungsbescheide" (which is something like your ATF prohibition/legal list which clearifies the legal status of a tool, sometimes with interesting results e.g. if you look at two diifferent Feststellungsbescheide of plastic pushdaggers).
Here is the link. I don`t know if you can find it in the english version.
www.bk a.d e/DE/UnsereAufgaben/Deliktsbereiche/Waffen/Feststellungsbescheide/feststellungsbescheide_node.html
I don`t link directly for legal reasons.
Sometimes I mix the blade lenght with total lenght. Could you elaborate by 12cm do you mean the total lenght of the knife or is it the sharpe edge of the knife?
@@Ebu_Cehil_El-Fakbadi total length, I carry a crkt minimalist for example
Well I made it through the first 2min before I was disgusted by German laws
Lol, ok Dave.
Kind of funny that none of my German knives are legal in Germany.
🤣🤣
Are Ka-bar TDI knives legal? or knives that are similar and curved design?
I think if you ask the average police officer in a rural to semi rural area, they don't really care about that knife, unless you really behave suspiciously. In a bigger city, this might be more of an issue. On the other hand, if you ask the BKA they'll probably tell you it's illegal to carry, cause kabar advertises it as a fighting knife. If they'd advertised it for food preparation or as a box cutter it would be fine. I know, that's stupid, but that's how administrations work in Germany. Somehow they fail to acknowledge that people sometimes just buy stuff based on how cool it looks or what other functions it could serve, rather than for it's marketed to be. If you went to court because of that thing, you'd probably lose.
Keep in mind that this is just my guess based on my experience and NOT legal advice.
When you consider the crimes against humanity committed by European governments, them saying what's safe for you to own is kind of funny.
It’s basically what government does
awesome gear
Fantastic
One handed knives are not illegal to own or carry if they are non locking ( like the Spyderco UK Penknife, Pingo, or Squeek), locking knives are legal but you need to use two hands to open. Side opening automatics are legal to own ( but not carried) when there bladelenght is equal or below 85mm. Single edged fixed knives are legal equal or smaller then 120mm. There are some bladestyles forbidden like the karambit, butterfly and the classic Italian Stiletto side opening knife. Sometimes local governement will make (temporary) laws banning knives at large gatherings, the underground u-bahn, etc.
Correct
@@BoneTactical A Karambit is not illegal it's just illegal to carry.
If you ever buy a switchblade with the classic Italian stiletto style, and it does not lock open, you have an Einhandmesser (one handed knife) made for the German market. I have three and just learned what that is about.
Interesting laws you guys have,I guess sword and dagger would be out of question 😂.What about slip joints, like Buck 110 or CS Kudu,in which category do they fall???
KY here! Almost no restrictions on firearms. Concealed carry no permit, loaded firearms in vehicle all legal. Love it
outlawtyler1 for now… Once they inact Marshall law it will be a different story 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@BoneTactical true haven't thought ahead to that yet. Might have move to Honduras if that happens
@@outlawtyler1 buy a few specifically to bury.
I had 1 simple question as I spent hours on the laws and sites to no avail.
Can a Nata be kept in the premises or transported to a wilderness area?
I saw absolutely nothing covering garden and forestry knives just knives that are primarily made as weapons.
You’re fine with that if you have a legit reason and do t conceal it
@@BoneTactical I realize it may not be a common knife people ask about so appreciate the reply.
While I don't carry it around town it does cause a reaction when people see it compared to say a hatchet, axe, and machete simply due to thier unfamiliarity with it, but I prefer it precisely because I can use it for most the work I would do with a hatchet, axe, and machete.
At least with the forest Nata.
The Garden Nata not so much.
By the by, it is also not a bad defense weapon for a person who has the size and control for it.
The ones I have are all hand forged and handled with no decorations or adornment and sheathed in basic functional holders to express their status as tools and not be mistaken for something else . Where I live this functional display has saved me alot of hassles while traveling from point A to point B with it, even if the trip is on foot through the city.
Besides for defense my lead cored rosewood and hickory short handled mallet makes a good legal carry defensive weapon on par with a rubber truncheon for directed mechanical force while not looking the least bit worrisome.
How about goin fishing and having fishing in bag fillet knife - illegal?
Master bone please make a video about this german PTB gas/cs gun where they say you can get a smallgun licencse and you can carry it everywhere? Thank you..
Terrible idea. Better off with nothing
Hey Greg
Richard Portella hey
Are scouts allow to carry aknife
Girl Scouts?
Doesn't apply to Poland
Believe it or not Germany and Poland are different countries!

I hope we still have some in stock when you get a chance to order! Have a great weekend
Brother its on the way we have written yesturday ;)
Nice work, keep going. Why don't you distribute your tools over amazon.de (Germany)?
Hi dude i live in Germany and the weapon laws in total are shit. Stay safe out there wash you're hands. 👍👌
The TacticalWolf sag mal, ist der Schlüsselanhänger in Deutschland legal? Was denkst du?
Ja sicher
@@aqua1262 Ich denke schon aber bin mir nicht zu 100% sicher.
And how realistic is it to be checked by a copper? Is it enforced at all? Does police seach just in big cities? Do they mind? Do people obey the carry laws?
Can I have a little fixed blade knife with me at the airport in my luggage in Germany or I can have problems with it?
The video explains in detail what you can have and what you can’t. In Your luggage you can carry everything I said
@@BoneTactical thank you very much
Germany? Not so first world anymore
Extremely first world actually… as first world as it gets. But thanks for the comment 🤣🤣
🙂🙂😎😎
Well, you're welcome to visit Sweden...the country where hunters get the shitfan when lowlives shoot each other in the streets and where no one is allowed to carry knife except for work (carpenters and so on, hunters are not mentioned in the knife law but mushroompickers are allowed🙄)
Keep up your work man!!!👊
Glad I don't live in Germany if they came here and seen open carry they would think we are still in the old west .....thanks for your video
Bob Scruggs thank you, they’d probably just assume you were a cop as detectives in Germany often open carry
No one would think your're a cop, people would call the cops because only weirdos wear guns in germany because there is no need to. We all love guns and stuff but in germany you use your knife for eating or crafting.
@Che Garcia I've never seen a burning car lol, but people drive very aggressive and very fast. But somehow it works.
This virus sure is changing everything we use to know about life stay safe
Che Garcia no one will asssume YOU are a cop in a Germany that is correct 🤣But it is possible for certain people with a certain skill set to pull it if
