"This is town home Honfleur, it is very quirky It's got marina. It's good all the medieval houses And it's got plenty Plenty of shops and plenty of other things You really need to check out Honfleur like all small vibrant towns in France Has its edge it's good restaurants cafes bars shops all Interwoven into the historical setting of marina and medieval houses Just look at those houses over there, it doesn't get any quirkier and smaller than those ones It's amazing how small they really are and have compressed. They're between one another I guess Sweet shops in France seem to have endless variety but meringues The big question is are they going to be better than my aunts meringues? That is a very big question! This beautiful carousel you see behind is the authentic 1900 Victorian carousel which is being restored. You can see all the authentic characters and its still going Now what you're about to see behind is the Europe's largest Wooden church This is a church of St Catherine of Alexandria And the first nave you see in this church dates back all the way to 15th century. I don't think I have vocabulary to describe the feel that you experience in this church The streets are so narrow That sometimes one car can barely fit What happens when one car meets another? Oh I have no idea. I guess they come up with something! Antique shops and small towns and France look like museums So amazing earlier on we've passed Antiques or some antique shop and there's one painting which really reached out to me, it reminded me of the University where I went to Back in Russia and that's exactly how we were taught to draw; I don't know why I'm whispering. We're in the street We're not exactly in the library, but my god it felt so authentic
Medieval streets and vintage cars: that looks like a marriage made in heaven Again the most amazing thing about places like this is when you wonder away from the City centre from the hustle and bustle of it all and then get into the streets like this one You barely see any tourists. It's...Empty but in a good way Only the 10-minute walk away from the city centre, Opens up a completely new world of a real medieval French City As always a big thank you for joining me on this journey This time to Honfleur. Mitchell And Rachel M I am glad you liked the video:) Both my Wife and I love France too! Hopefully we could go there again.
Great video. Brought back a lot of good memories for us, especially the carousel! Love the music.
I am glad you liked the vlog! What was your favourite city or town in Normandy?
Another informative and entertaining video. Keep it up Mike!
Brilliant! Thanks Bruno! Have you been to Honfleur?
Excellent, love the sunshine and music!
Thank you! We were blessed to arrive there when the weather was great. It would never be the same if it would be coudy
Sorry, Mike. Only just catching up on the last two! Both excellent and a much better length. Guess they were shot last summer. Northern France made me think of Mont Saint Michel, which I’m sure would make a great vLog.
No worries Steve! We have visited this city all the way back in 2018. Have you been to Honfleur?
Mike Bogatyrev No, never, but it looks beautiful and your vLog has encouraged me to go. Brings to mind Shakespeare’s Henry V.
@@jazzybrie What is your favourite place in France?
@@mikebogatyrev3058 Provence. Been a number of times. Love the food, wine, people and awesome countryside.
@@jazzybrie I see! Must visit it once the whole thing is over!
Honfluer is actually the birthplace of ERIK SATIE - so may I suggest you change the background music to one of Erik's famous classical piano melodies please? We visited Honfluer on a cruise last year and loved walking around as you say, "The quirky streets" where of course we visited the #ErikSatieMuseum located in his house - now that was a quirky experience, but to hear his music and find out about his difficult lifestyle made the exercise well worth it, as we just love his music!
I will definitely check out Eric's music, thank you for you suggestion! We are hoping to come to the city and once we will - we will be sure to visit the places which were dear to him
What kind of camera do you use? Your videos are very sharp and the colour is spot on!
Thank you Graham! It is a mix between an iPhone 8 Plus , 7 and Canon 5D Mark iii. What is a camera of your choice?
@@mikebogatyrev3058 I have a Canon G9 X but I'm not very happy with the quality of it
@@graham6525 The trick is to know the limitations of your camera and keep to those. That way it will look like the camera is perfect because you keep it to the range of its abilities. What are you shooting with G9?
@@mikebogatyrev3058 For the moment I'm mostly shooting vids from my bedroom but also gradually getting into travel vlogs. The camera is a little weak on sharpness...
@@graham6525 It may not be light sensitive enough for the conditions of your shoots. Try using led lighting like soft box sets if you are shooting indoors: you will see how the image will improve. 80% of good camerawork is light. Thats why it is easier to get a good image when it is sunny outside
Great Vlog! I am in Honfleur at the moment. Which shop is it with all the colored soap? I would love to go there.
I can’t recall the name of it but it’s facing the square harbour, I think it’s next to the shop that sells sweets. We were very impressed with the quality of the soaps there
@@mikebogatyrev3058 thank you! Very kind of you. We’ll find it.
@@ellendeman8417 let me know how it goes and what you think of the place!
Need a class in musicology mate!
