    I built this model this week, it was the only 1/72 kit they had in my local model shop so i decided to try it. Iam happy with the final result but the overall building of the plane I found to be un interesting, its a sad thing to say, maybe it was to do with the fact that the Tomahawk, or this colour varient, isnt one of my favourite aircraft. But at least it was something to pass the time with u know?

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah, sometimes they can become a bit repetitive - i've actually built two of these now, this one and the Battle Of Britain style one czcams.com/video/sEoesSFgRRg/video.html and I found the second one to be a bit more fun! Exactly the same kit, just seemed to be more fun to build. I know you've got to build something you're interested in, sometimes that can be the first barrier to get past

    Hi mate, great job. I'm currently building this model, and I plan on making it a two-seater, which will involve cutting out some of the plastic of the fuselage on which the 'back windows' sit. What do you think would be the best way of doing this? I was thinking of using a hot wire?

    • @ModelMinutes

      Dry brushing? it's pretty simple, put paint on the brush, then on a paper towel (or something like that) just brush all the paint off again. The brush should now feel dry. Use this on the model and only the residual paint on the brush will be picked up by any raised details

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 5 lety

      Zhafran Nabil great questions! It depends on the plastic and paint, but a primer can be a good idea to help the next layers stick to the plastic. I tend to thin my paint 2 parts paint to one part water. If you would like more information, I mention these thing in my beginner guide videos ☺️

      Zhafran Nabil again that depends on the paint and how much you thin it. I find that with my ratio it might take up to 3 coats. But if it’s thinner it may require mpre

    Didn't you wash the parts before you started painting? Would help especially if brush painting with acrylics. I still use Humbrol enamels (along with White Ensign and Xtracolour since they have many special British colors) and brush paint as much as possible, using airbrush only for large or flat areas where brush marks are harder to hide. Don't understand these modellers that airbrush everything. Spend hours masking when can brush it in a few minutes. Enamels best for brushing for me, acrylics just never seem to cover brush marks.
    Hope you get an airbrush someday. My parents got me one for Christmas 43 years ago, still have and use it!
    Very good video, did a good job on an out of box build!

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Před 5 lety

      I do wash most of the kits I build, but if i'm honest, i'm not sure I notice a difference in the way paints adhere to the surface of the plastic. I find i'm reasonably efficient at using a brush these days, so feel it would be quicker than using an airbrush, but I do hope to get one someday, but it might be a few years away at the moment as I don't really have the funds to justify it. It's been suggested I start a patreon to help fund the channel, but not sure I've got the fanbase for that at the moment
