  • I’m finally back running after recovering from Seoul marathon. I start the day by completing a 10 km run and then a strength workout. Then after school I go explore the Myeong dong night market in the search for gungoguma (Roasted sweet potato) and bungeo ppang (fish shaped pastry). Take care.

I also recommend you to try Isaac toast (이삭토스트) , Myungrang hotdog (명량 핫도그) , Dakgangjeong (닭강정) , Dakgalbi (닭갈비), and boneless dakbal (무뼈닭발), budae jjigae (부대찌개)
They are some of my favorite foods.
Isaac toast and Myungrang hotdog are savory and sweet street childhood street food, there are lots of branches throughout Seoul. I think you have to copy the Korean names of them and paste them in Google maps so that more branches show on the map.
Dakgangjeong is like fried chicken with some sauce, and you can easily get from any local markets such as mangwon market (망원시장).
Dakgalbi and budae jjigae are really good meal, you can easily find any shops on Google map.
Boneless dakbal is my personal favorite, but I found out some people are afraid of trying it since it is stir-fried marinated CHICKEN FEET. But I love it.
One thing to make sure is that you must find BONELESS dakbal, otherwise it is very hard to eat due to feet bone. I also don't like them with bone inside.

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation and recommendations. I have tried budae jjigae a couple of times and I really like it. I have added all the other dishes to my list.😍

Actually, the fish shaped pastry is not traditional one, since it is made up of croissant batter, which is now a trend, you can get traditional one in every neighborhood near subway station or bus stops. As you said, red bean filling is traditional one.
Also, it taste really good when you eat the steamed or grilled sweet potato with milk, it taste 100times better I swear. Koreans don't eat the peelings of the sweet potato, but it's your choice. It's not harmful.
Yeah, the egg bread is childhood street food, and I always loved it. It used to be cheaper, but not anymore haha

It was a fun experience exploring the market. I am 100% going to try the combination of sweet potato and milk. 😃
