Great video! I purchased this mini toaster oven for my camper van: perfect for one person and more than just a one-slice toaster. I've made cornbread (Marie Callender's just add water mix), personal pizza (with premade thin crust from Safeway) as well as reheating Amy's entrees, which fit lengthwise. Important reminder to let it preheat for 3-5 minutes prior to whatever you're cooking. To prevent baking from burning (as the rack is close to the top heating element), just cover with foil and check on it from time to time.
I have been using this mini toaster as well as the rice cooker for a few months now and finding great utility and function in them both. At first I thought they were too tiny for practical use but finding that I am able to do quite a lot with them, so much so, that I use them both almost everyday now. I've used the rice cooker with a small steam basket for veggies (in place of the lid) while boiling rice or pasta below - a great time saver. I've also used it for soups, cakes and a variety of mixed rice recipes. Highly useful device and highly recommend! My only con is that I wish it came with a stainless steal pot instead of aluminum but I get that non stick and lightweight is necessary for this setup. That said, would still try to get a stainless insert pot that fits and see if it works. The toaster is a tiny gem too and I love how quickly I can reheat and grill single sized portion breads and meals without hassle. Its small size and form factor make it perfect for my living situation as currently live in a single dorm type room. These two have been so effective that I rarely use my induction cooker. Dash really did well with these two items and I'm grateful for their low wattage and excellent form factor for the minimalist out there like myself. PS...I can see how these would be perfect for van or car dwellers!
Okay done watching. You are the absolute Queen of the mini dash appliances! That oven looks so cute. And those chicken tenders turned out looking totally delicious. I'm hungry now. So good to see you back! Oh, and I love the look of your tiny cottage!
I love this little oven, have been using it a lot! I will say that the dollar tree breading was not that great...I will add salt, pepper and garlic the next time I use it. Thanks again for watching!
I would like to see a Kilo Watt Hour metre to see the cost of the electrisity used. In the UK the common excuse for poor households or people on benefits or getting food bank boxes is that they dont cook properly due to the cost of gas or electrisity to do the cooking, often more expensive on a pre paid metering key. The true total cost of cooking meals like this would be interesting.
Mine is Red but I sure wish they had a cute yellow one like yours when I bought mine. I am finding the dash mini's work well for me also . I have not tried anything like your chicken deal but think I will go for it! I have been preheating to bake. Thanks for video
Hi Hobbs...good to "see" you again!..Thanks for checking out the video and stopping in to say hi....hey, do you know what's up with Semi-Living?...I see they haven't posted in a few months!
After watching your video, I searched out a used Dash Mini Toaster Oven. I really love it. It makes the best toast with my homemade bread. I also make pizza in it--I buy a square Totino's Party Pizza and slice it into 4 parts so I can freeze 3 and cook one to make a single meal served with a little salad. The pizza needs to cook for 13-15 minutes. It's a cheap treat.
Wow...how lucky you are to find a used one! I looked at all sorts of second hand stores but couldn't find one so I finally broke down and bought a new one. I love mine as well and it has truly changed how and what I cook. It also is the perfect fit for camping or living in a van. Thanks so much for the comment!
@@travelinggypsie2085 There aren't many shopping options where I live so I went online. I looked for several weeks on eBay to find the right one. There are a number of used Dash mini appliances on eBay but I saw that it was a matter of choosing the right seller who was selling low at auction and of being ready to use the returns system if necessary. I have also purchased a used Dash rice cooker on eBay, and I'm pleased with that as well. By the way, I've been experimenting with baking potatoes in the Dash toaster oven. It can be done! Just requires a little microwaving or parboiling first. Looking forward to more of your videos.
@@zzydny Thanks for the tip about baked potatoes....I've actually been thinking about trying that and will take your advice about par-boiling ( I don't have a microwave). I have been able to bake small potatoes in the Road Pro oven that I have but it takes a long time so knowing that I can use the Dash mini oven is a big help. The Road Pro only heats up to 300 degrees I think but the Mini heats up to 400 and if I par-boil as well it should cut the cook time down considerably. Thanks for the insight!
@@travelinggypsie2085 A friend told me that parboiling before baking is a technique that restaurants use to save on bake time. Here is what I did: I parboiled my potato for about 15 minutes (I'm guessing that you could possibly do this in the rice cooker if you pre-heated the water to boiling before adding the potato but I have not tried this). You should be able to stick a fork into the potato but it should not be too soft. Bake for 10 minutes in the Dash. Remove the potato rub the skin with oil and salt or other seasoning so that it will be crispy. Then return to the Dash for 15 minutes or as long as necessary. Have fun trying this! I sure did.
The thermometer is made to insert into meat, or what ever one is cooking/baking while it is in in the oven. Dash has cute products, and so far all of the products I have purchased work. Going to get the oven.
Hi Ann...Yeah, I've been busy getting my she shed together....making it feel like "home" and stuff. It's good to be back to a place where I can hopefully post more videos soon. Thanks for checking in and thanks for watching, commenting, etc.
I purchased the same one you have!!! And just tried to use it to make mini brownies and they got burned!! 😂😂😂😂 still super adorable!!!! Currently watching your video to get some tips on how to cook with it and not immediately burn it! Lol
I called HSN to try and find out how the "retro grill and Oven" wattage allows for baking. Thought there must be be a way; since it bakes. The lady on this video (thanks for doing this video!) said the wattage here "goes up to 400 degrees." The HSN rep i spoke with (seemed) not to understand why I could not figure out how to bake using watts(?) Using a thermometer? Come on! Very cute DASH items; for toast, reheating, etc. Don't know how I would actually bake, though. Might post this latter under "comments", for more answers. Have "Googled" to no avail. Thanks!
Thank you so much for putting it back in for a few more minutes 🫣. It Always better to cook it over 165 than under. I usually account for 3* error on any thermometer. And the temp should be at 165 for at least 15 seconds and some people don’t account for that either… great demo👏
It's so cute. I heard these hit somewhere close to 400°. I'm looking for something that below 800 watts to use on the road while I'm road tripping with a decent battery Bank
Really cute video. The chicken looks perfect. And I love the yellow mini toaster oven. I've seen it in red or pink. May I ask where you got the yellow one? Thank you!
This video was very helpful in regard to this mini toaster oven by Dash. Wish I knew whether or not the ticking noise could be turned down or to silent. Thanks!
Gail.. I have one and the ticking is very minimal noise! Hers may sound louder because of a microphone or something. But really, you can hardly hear it.

Hello! I was wondering if these appliances you’ve made videos on are under 500 watts? I’m thinking of getting a jackery500 when I get a van and I’m gonna need some appliances under 500 watts
Hi Haylee...this particular Dash appliance I'm showing in this video (the Dash Mini Toaster Oven) uses 550 watts while the heating element is on (and far less when the maximum temp has been reached). As far as the Dash Mini Rice Cooker I showed in other videos I believe it's under 300 watts (I don't have it with me...I'm on a road trip at the moment). So the average running watts is not what you're looking for, you need peak or surge wattage. Even if it sips energy once it's heated up, when you first turn on an appliance it usually spikes above its rated wattage and that basically throws the breaker and your jackery will not be able to run it if it's even close to its Max Capacity. I would highly recommend something higher than jackery 500 if you want to run appliances especially anything with a heating element or cooling capacity
It's automatically set to 400* F, there's no way to adjust temperature. I suppose you could place a glass or ceramic bowl underneath the pan & on top of the rack to raise it higher so that it would broil from top element. Just make sure the pan is stable!
Actually the "timer" noise doesn't bother me at all...to be honest...if you are a few feet away you can't hear it at all until the bell rings...which is kinda what your microwave does, so no biggy for me. Thanks for watching!

Leave window door completely or partially open to reduce heat. Experiment with it.
