Pixel Dan catches up with Josh Graham from Mattel to talk about all of the new Masters of the Universe Origins and Masterverse reveals.
#SDCC #MOTU #pixeldan - Zábava
some origins are already impossible to get over here in europe, so creations will be a drama for many of us. 😏
Actually I think it will be easier to get all the figures. You know where and when to order and don‘t have to check if a figure is distributed at all internationally and then at which retailer.
@@melkor2301 good point, matthias, but don’t you think we might run into trouble with sold out figures and import cost and so on?
where do you order now? i still am looking for origins whiplash, teela and zoar and clawful and can’t find them for reasonable prices in germany or the netherlands, where i am based.
I have the same issues. We european collectors need an european located store at least to avoid shipping and hight duty fees
@@gumersindodelcampo7410 agreed! 👊🏻
The distributions are quite bad here at the States at store retailers. Unless one gets them online.
The cartoon versions look so amazing! I'm already excited for them, even if they're more than six months away. This is the golden age of man-child toy collecting! 😁
Yea the cartoon versions look way better than the toy versions
Awesome, walk through Dan. Perfect questions for all the stuff! I love the fact that they are gonna complete the Origins line.
Exciting things coming for motu origins fans !
@@motuoriginsrock Oh yeah! Totally! Really great stuff👍
I can't wait to see these on your channel!
@brushstroke3733 I can't wait to get them, man!👌
@@ThemanchlidI’m gona watch ur squeeeze video now
So Origins is now essentially an Ebay exclusive line? Thanks Mattel!
You’re very welcome. Save your money cuz I’ll have plenty on eBay for you at a very high markup.
@@masonj4779 Lol, you're funny. What a comedian.
UK here, and frankly miffed about the direction for the "Vintage" figures. The £9 shipping isn't too bad if I can order two or more figures, but if they drop them one at a time then that's annoying. I hope they do continue to address the stock issue so they can last for at last a day or offer made to order for those who can't place an order due to the timing, be it they're busy at work or their time zone means it's 2am or something. I'll also add, my hope was for Origins to continue to encompass "eras" beyond vintage. I've enjoyed seeing 200X characters/designs as well as mini comic characters (even if they're simply recolours) in the Origins style and had hoped we'd get other "branches" like New Adventures, unproduced figures and "new era" characters like Wrap Trap. The Filmation figures are luke warm for me, primarily as I already have the characters revealed so far and I don't feel I need them again, but if this opens the door to say a Queen Marlena who I can display with King Randor, I'd welcome it.
I also hope they'll continue to offer options for the international customers when it comes to exclusives. Hearing 87 Evil Lyn will be a store exclusive was annoying, but are we talking something akin to New Adventures He-Man and Skeletor which is purely Target exclusive, something akin to NE Two-Bad and Whiplash which seems to have a more general release over here (I got both off Amazon UK without issue) or a store that will ship internationally, like BBTS? I appreciate that's something they'll likely reveal more in the future so I realise I'll have to wait for more info.
I am definitely interested in the future of Origins and Masterverse as I love them both and I have faith in what Josh was saying, but I won't lie, I am disappointed Origins might not wind up being what I was hoping it would be. Still, I am keen to see the remaining vintage figures in Origins, if nothing else.
MOTU Origins exclusive to Mattel Creations?
BOO! HISS!
Did I hear that right? Vintage Origins are moving completely to Creations? Man that´s the biggest Middlefinger from Mattel to the International Fans you can get! I´m really mad about this! Basically that means the Origins Line are Dead for me from now on.
I live in Germany. Credit Cards are not a common thing here. That´s a Problem alone but add Aditional costs to it like shipping, customs duties if you are unlucky etc.
Why does Mattel has to F*** it up at the end every single Time since ever when it come to MotU? 🤬
Loooooool
Great questions, exceptional interview Dan! Thank you for all of the SDCC coverage, been watching all the videos!
1 the filmation line looks amazing. I appreciate the new buck, and the comparability. You guys are doing it right!
2 Mattel creations has been tremendously frustrating. I have missed out on every “exclusive” that wasn’t a preorder. Never had a chance at Koldarr… still hot over that one. Pre orders are so simple to do and the best way to make sure you’re not stuck with overstock, while not leaving money on the table, which is what you have been doing… every origins figure should be a one-week pre order. Simple and done. I get three of all of them and I know I’m not alone….take my money will ya!
Great interview session, Dan and Josh! Thank you for doing this and hitting some key questions. The move to Creations seems predictable for a while now and will be taxing for a lot of fans everywhere. Where International is concerned, hopefully we can see Mattel Creations expanding or partnering in a greater capacity with smaller retailers/ hobby stores in Asia, Eastern Europe & South America among other areas to meet demand. Hasbro Pulse is already here in Malaysia and Singapore as two of the biggest action-figure buying markets in the world. A lot of us have supported the brand through every Origins figure release since 2020 and hope to complete the modern day updates of the vintage figures. Cheers and have a great weekend there
Well we are over with mattel origins here overseas!!!!
Thanks mattel!!! You really think about your collectors!!!
We? Loooool....
What are they supposed to do, give products away to retailers who no longer want to buy it to put on their shelves?
@@brushstroke3733 What country do you live in, just so I know?
@@Tombstonecross Yes, We! Definition of we... "I and the rest of a group that includes me"!!!
I love that they want to finish the vintage figures with ORIGINS. ❤
That's really terrible that we have to get Origins online only now. Mattel Creations is the worst place for hot items.
Fantastic interview as always Dan. You hit all my questions on filmation except vehicles and play sets for the cartoon figures. Thanks again
I know there's a lot of fans of Classics but between Origins, Masterverse and Mondo I don't think MOTU fans have ever had it so good.
Exactly! A lot of fans aren’t realising how good we have had it since 2020. Multiple toy lines, two cartoons, lots of high end collectibles - and no end in sight. Just enjoy the ride guys and don’t stress about silly things like the “line ending” or “Kevin Smith has destroyed my childhood “🙄
There’s room for everything in this property. Sure , not everything will be easy to get - but that comes with collecting any toyline - and I collect a lot. It comes with the territory, and if you really, really want something - you’ll find a way of getting it 😊
@@sunnyshine2215 “It comes with the territory”
That’s so true, yet seldom heard or said!
Dan always being the number 1. It's great to hear Josh,he is an important part of this Motu revival. It's not always their fault that many countries that love HE-Man aren't getting MOTU but listening to him keeps the spark on. keep the good work. Ruben Moya ud tiene el poder.
They've released they can make a lot dollars overseas. That's why he said Mattel was working with more vendors in other countries. I hope that your luck improves. Based on what he said, it will.
Great interview Dan!! Thank you for asking the important questions and are always positive and respectful in doing so!
Kudos to Mattel for sticking with the origins lineup to completion. A lot of companies would either be forced to stop if things weren't selling well at retail or it would just abandon it out of frustration. I'm a little confused as to the hard pivot to filmation, which is a cartoon that hasn't been on the air for decades. I wonder if it's because they look more colorful and more animation oriented to a child walking through the action figure aisle at Target? Regardless they do look great and I can't wait to find them
The core cast of characters always sell better than the lower tier characters so they have to find ways of releasing the likes of He-man, Skeletor, Beast Man, Teela etc again. Filmation versions are a good refresh
im guessing the same thing the cartoonish look might appeal to a kid. but if its the same price point as origins its not going to appeal to the parent buying for kids. you can just pick up tmnt for $10 instead
Great coverage Dan, thanks so much.
So excited for the FILMATION-figures. My most wanted actionfigures. I can not wait!!!
the new figs looks great! cant wait!
Glad you mentioned the giants! Definitely want them! And an Eldor & He-Ro in Origins! And I still want a Blade & Goat Man from Revelations
Great questions Dan! Keep up the nice coverage! And get some rest too!
If Mattel is going to manage all figures they should create a subscription in order to allow us to get all the figures for international fans, we have years collecting them so at least Mattel needs to help us to complete our collections 🚀
Hello from England. Thanks for the info Dan, just turned 50 here and loving the origins toy line but we have trouble getting figures here seems like Mattel really don’t care about their international customers more so now with making them Mattel creations. For me it’s not so much the cost of the figure it’s the ridiculous price of shipping and custom fees.
Keep up the good work Dan have a good weekend.
That movie Evil Lynn is absolutely a beauty, and if it gets into BBTS I will buy it immediatly.
Fantastic interview. One of the best of the show 😉❤😂🎉😛🍿🪭
Always so professional, Dan!
Man that MOTU jacket Josh is wearing is MAD!!!! I want one!! Is it available to order from anywhere or was this just a special promo for SDCC staff? Anyone knows?
Seems like every time Mattel brings in the Snake-Men, it means the beginning of the end for a 'Masters Of The Universe' line.
confident empty answers is all i heard from josh his body language pretty much said more confusion is to come
if mattel creations is getting this line the masses will be burnt
Wow you could tell all that from just his body’s movements? Man you must be a hella great judge of character. What’s my body language telling you?
I hope completing the vintage like includes the Lost Wave and Laser Power He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor and the Bashasaurus.
I think we can forget any vehicles, beast and playsets that aren't crowdfunded.
@scockery what do you call Night Stalker? Also, he said playsets were a possibility.
@@Convoy00X Yeah, Mr Corporate says a lot of things. He didn't say how those sets would get made.
Great interview from Dan, but HUGE dissapointment for me after I heard that the vintage characters from the Origins line will be Mattel creations exclusive. That probably means the end for my collecting as I really don't want to pay 30+ dollars for the shipping (while BBTS charges 8) or to relive the stress I had after my first and the last purchase from MC when they didn't send me the tracking number for 20+ days, and I got my Grizzlor by pure luck. Once again, Mattel showed that they really don't care for their international customers
Many MOTU fans outside the US will be stepping out of the line because of this, they can't find most of the characters from the vintage line on retail and now they will be forced to buy the rest of original characters from Creations. There's already a lot backlash in the MOTU fan groups I know.
@@alexherrera9305 The same thing happens here in the U.S. at retailer stores. It is not just you.
@@alexherrera9305there is always backlash in MotU fan groups regardless what is happening.
There was a made to order preorder phase for Grizzlor. It was absolutely no problem to get him. 🤷♂️
You're lucky you got your Grizzlor. Mine never showed up. After 3 months they contacted me that it was returned and they just issued a full refund including shipping, which doesn't help me as now I have to pay if I still want the figure, inflated scalper prices on Ebay! It's very disappointing to hear that it will go through the Mattel website. They should really think about the international customers as we represent a larger income and market then the domestic one...
im going to have to watch this twice, i've been watching the awesome comic animation on the left hand screen, and the stop motion as well... noice!
Thanks again for the extra info Dan.
Sat in the UK still trying to get Thunder Punch He-Man. Their production and distribution is WAYYYYYYY off!
Amazing as always ❤
The New Eternia line is wicked. However…that jacket the Gent from Mattel is wearing…that is one I’d like to own! …even if my wife would be mortified to walk along side me in the street, if I was to wear it 😂
Great interview ❤
Great positive feedback. Really hoping for movie troopers, centurions and Beastman!!!
Loving the Motu universe! Masterverse is one of the best toy lines out right now 👍
Been drooling over this dude’s jacket for longest time
Great video Dan thanks for the info i am not going to get all of that several are in my hotl list MOTU FOREVER
Thanks for asking about Masterverse Mosquitor Dan !! Hoping for a Motu Origins Battle Lion someday. Masterverse Mosquitor and Horde Trooper as well !
Glad I just rewatched this. Gotta keep my bank account ready for Spring :)
Thanks Dan! Really hope we get more New Adventures figures in the Masterverse line. I need Staghorn...
If they do a made to order model with the online exclusives like they did with Wundar and Grizzlor, then I don't have a problem with it. Great video. Thank you Pixel Dan.
PLEASE do filmation Attak Trak, I have wanted that since I was a kid. He-Man talked to it, and it was sassy, and we never got it.
Great video, Dan is the best !
they've done a fantastic job for Trapjaw figure!! I've been waiting for eternity for this kind of design. Now will wait for this bad boy to buy and put in my office desk display.
Great interview. I still wish Super 7 could get the license back to produce Ultimates
❤❤❤❤❤❤ amazing!!!!
Hey Pixel Dan! Love your videos. Could you ask them if they’re going to do a Lord Masque exclusive from house of Shokti episode?
Dear friend Pixel Dan everything sounds great but for international fans Mattel should think we need another options like BBTS and not only MCreations, shipping cost are the double for each exclusive figure. Another solution could be to have a pile of lot in MCreations like BBTS. I know this is not your job but you are the only one that can comunícate this to Mattel 🤓🙏🏼🙏🏼🚀🚀🚀 Thanks a lot I and many international fans appreciate all the time and effort you put in MOTU!! Blessings 😉✌🏻
Great Interview Job @Pixel Dan. Thank you very much. I am a serious Motu collector (collecting since the vintage through the recent lines ), and I wanted to learn where the multiple lines are heading to. I hope @mattel honors and finish the origins line, due to that is where most of my money is going to. i live in Mexico, and it is still getting quite hard to get all the origins figures (specially the wave of she-ra). I hope distribution gets a lot better from now on. The only question left was if there is going to reissue of old figures? i which i doubt now...
So, we just want his jacket! Haha
@Pixel-dan The video in the background with stop motion and animation in the mini comics… so cool! Is there a link to that somewhere?
I want an Attack Track Origins 😢
Not only Attak Trak, we also need Battle Ram, Spydor, Dragon Walker, Bashasaurus, Fright Fighter to say the least, in addition to the teased ones like The Collector and such.
@@josephk8506 Some of the vintage posters include awesome vehicles.
I want one as well. It was the only vehicle I had as a kid.
I've had perfect luck on mattel creations so far thought this was going to happen surprised to see this announcement though this is going to be the good stuff ❤❤❤
Happy to see that they're committed to finishing the vintage lineup with Origins (and I'm with you Dan, we need the dinosaurs). Also, excited to see more New Eternia, hoping to see Teela and Evil-Lyn at some point though.
I see new Justin Rasch Origins stop motion animation running on the background. Snake Armor He-Man vs Snake Armor Skeletor, I'm a sucker for Rasch Animation, hope that releases soon because I've searched around and cannot find the new segment anywhere.
I am happy to hear them wanting to finish the MOTU Origins line...Obviously, it would seem that the Slime Pit & Fright Zone are coming...but we want all the vehicles too.
Honesty, I think I stand for many of us, but after the main line of Origins is finished, I was really wanting Mattel to expand on the line in new & unique ways. There are so many side characters that we wanted to see from the cartoon, in Origins...as well as playsets, vehicles, etc...Maybe the cartoon line will allow that?
Lastly, I was hoping for more original Mattel created characters for Origins too. That would be so cool to see Mattel give us something entirely new. I'd be down for some alternative look figs too (shirtless/battle hardened Man At Arms, Red Skeletor w/ Flames, Blue/Ice variant of Beast Man, etc).
I don’t think moving the origins line to mattel creations is a good idea. The website is already a mess quite often, and it will probably continue to get worse as time goes on.
Exactly, in the MOTU dedicated fan groups I know there's a lot of backlash because of this news, especially from the folks who don't live in the US, you know, they will have to deal with the bugs of the site, beat other collectors and the scalpers, pay additional shipping fees and taxes, the hobby will just get less funny and more expensive.
Yep, it's Matty Collector all over again.
Man, I've been waiting on that Piper!
I'm pretty excited about the future of Masterverse based on what they've shown off. Hear about "years" of plans instills a lot of confidence. Maybe we'll eventually get Dreamworks She-Ra stuff in there.
It would be great to have all the She-Ra characters, too.
I want that jacket.
Anyone else watch the stop motion in the background? 12:57
I wish they had made the Filmation versions Mattel Creations instead. Ideally, I would like all of the lines on EE and BBTS. If I miss out on MC for anything then it’s either incomplete collection, or predatory eBay prices. This is my first and probably last toy collection as an adult and I would hate to leave it incomplete because of scalping.
Sell figures as exclusives, is not held yourself accountable to a promise, … , the figures were difficult to get at retail, as exclusives are nearly impossible. Thank you for bringing us the info from the source. Still a bummer to hear that info.
I know its a long shot but what about the vehicles and the remaining playsets?
Please please give me swiftwind before it’s too late. She-raw was released in wave three and we still haven’t seen him.
I’m very on the fence about the direction Origins seems to be taking now. On one hand, I kind of like that they’re doing a Filmation lineup (I probably would have really enjoyed having more cartoon-accurate versions of these characters growing up), but it feels like it should be a separate toy line (akin to what happened with Classics where it essentially split up into 2 concurrent and compatible toy lines). On the other hand, the switchover to Mattel Creations for the remainder of the vintage line is sort of a double-edged sword. I haven’t been relying on finding any Origins at retail for a long time, simply because they were impossible to find for the first year other than He-Man and Skeletor, and then Wave 7 just clogged up the pegs for almost 2 years until my Walmart simply removed the shelf space for it. I was relying on BBTS for everything. I liked being able to purchase at my leisure and not getting stressed out being unable to get what I want. I do feel like they’re trying to use Mattel Creations as their own online “retailer” in that sense, which is a good thing. My biggest concern is that these figures go on sale within a very specific window of time when I’m unable to afford it, they sell out, and then I basically have to hope more are produced for those of us that miss out.
At least it seems like they definitely got the message that many of us care about retaining the action features. Quite a few of the more recent figures have been sort of ruined because they sacrificed what made them so unique in the first place.
Right so keep an eye on Mattel Creations
Not my local toy importers
Oh and Mattel Creations *may* *finally* shop to my country
I really do want Duplici and Fan-Favourite Tri-Klops
I too have my fingers crossed for a New Eternia Masterverse Mosquitor. He was the very last MOTU figure I got as a kid so was a special one for me. The Origins version is cool but def need a Masterverse version.
What about the Mega Construx line though?
Exactly
Hoping for battleram, two bad, modulok, multi bot and mantisaur - fingers crossed!!
Only on Mattel Creations, sadly 😢
Please allow BBTS to preorder all figures for internacional fans because shipment is lower cost and we have the chance to have a bounch of figures waiting to be ship. For me BBTS is the very best way to get ALL the figures!
So Spring 2024 the cartoon line of MOTU comes out on sale!!
All nice and stuff……but I need that jacket!!! That’s so awesome!!
Thank you for doing the Lord’s work, Dan!
Sounds like a plan...🤘🏼💯✔️
The question I have is what sub lines will be online (and where) and what sublimes will be at retail?
Wishful thinking: If Mattel Creations will be the exclusive home for Origins starting in 2024 and beyond, could there be a way for Creations to have accounts created for collectors that when a figure is introduced that it automatically reserved and paid for with a credit card on file? I'm a teacher, so when there have been exclusives debuted, I am with students, and by the time I am able to get to the site to try to order, they are already sold out. I would LOVE to just put on a list to be able to automatically be put on the list whenever something new is introduced, and I would assume it would help Mattel know how much stock to order if they had a list of orders all ready to go even before non-list people look to place orders as well.
So will we still be able to pre-order from places like BBTS and EE once they go to Mattel Creations
They have the Powerrr!
These are so hard and expensive to get in the UK I gave up collecting them but I can't wait to get movie Evil Lynn.
Glad to hear getting from creations less of a toy hunting hassle, never missed a creations drop! Thanks Dan! Safe journey out there!

@@tatt4music where is Mattel Creations and Mattel home-based again?
How about a Panthor, Clawdeen, and other beasts of burden for the Masterverse line?
“The line is dead” -Former Mattel employee
The fact Graham wasn't able to properly answer your question regarding the vintage figures just shows Mattel doesn't care about us consumers anymore. They wanna pander to the scalpers just because they give them more money than anyone else, because the scalpers see MC exclusives as an opportunity to get-rich-quick. I can ignore the figures like Camo Khan because they're homages to rare or cancelled figures. I can understand why Grizzlor had to be exclusive to MC due to his flocking being expensive. But making the remaining vintage figures exclusive has no good reason outside of profit (Which boggles my mind as to why they never restock their figures anyway).
Mattel, you're pandering to the wrong group.
I think major retailers rejected whatever pitch Mattel had and they had to go all Filmation to even keep a mass retail line. Leaks indicate there were going to be Origins reissues with the Filmation waves and now I get the impression the reissues will also be Mattel Creations only.
I think in this case, Scott the self-proclaimed "toy guru" Nietlich got it right - these lines don't sell that well to children and that there aren't enough of us adult collectors buying them to keep them afloat.
Mattel would prefer to sell all of their production to Walmart, Target, Amazon, and online stores like Entertainment Earth and Big Bad Toy Store. That's the best way for them to guarantee evenything they produce gets sold (because the retailers buy them all, not because they all sell out to end customers like us.)
However, those retailers aren't selling enough of them to warrant the shelf space, so they are declining to buy future waves. Mattel is actually trying to do us a favor (and get smaller profits they can) by continuing the line and selling them directly to us.
They don't really want to be a retailer, but they're trying to make it a win-win situation for them and us. Mattel Creations could be much better, but without them, the line would just end now.
These replies have been insightful, I have been too irrational here
@@brushstroke3733 Scott was right about this for a while now. The Origins line is all but dead at retail. My worthless local Target has had nothing but Pig-Heads for several months now.
@@TheRyan4778 Same with my Target, though somehow they got rid of the Pigheads and now have just one Jitsu. They're finally putting Rulers of the Sun pack on clearance, marked down 70% from original price today. They also have one Mekaneck with Road Ripper just marked down 50% today. I might get it if it goes down to 70% off, but I already have two of them.
The Masterverse figures they have are also all 50 - 70% off now. I already got Two-Bad and the Sorceress a couple weeks ago when they were first marked down to 50% of original price. We'll see if they carry any of the new cartoon version figures next year. I'm not counting on it.
What a great interview! Thank you, Dan, especially the last question. I love the Masterverse line, and my kids love their Origins toys. He-Man is such a wonderful, inspiring franchise that deserves to live on.

As long as Mattel maintains and improves quality there will be a lot of fan engagement.
No if they are taking the Mattel Creations only route.
@@alexherrera9305 That's probably true.

Origins going all in on Mattel Creations is a very slippery slope. We'll see what happens, but online retailers like BBTS should remain partnered with Mattel and the "Vintage" Origins line.
Good to know about the news, Dan, but unfortunately for us, brazilian collectors, finish the vintage collection on Origins will be tough… international shipping and taxes will be a bummer… and even the Filmation collection, after all, since wave 9 we don’t receive any new figure… anyway, let’s wait and see what will happen… even more success to your channel, Dan, I’m a huge fan of yours since the beginning of MOTU Classics, and your channel is a inspiration for mine!
