Toralei looks great in this! I feel like she was one of the characters that was visually "softened" the most from Gen2 onwards, and now she thankfully has her edge back. I'm gonna say it, I think she looks better. I prefer this hairstyle to the original.

I know we all miss the old monster high but let’s not hate on this hardworking artist who’s just doing her job and following instructions. She’s making designs and suggestions based off of instructions the ppl in charge give her. Then they end up ultimately choosing the final design. I also don’t like most of the new designs of the monster high characters compared to the others but sending hate out to artists is just cruel. Plus I think she captured the old characters designs and personalities well in the characters she helped design.

I missed Spectra’s pastel goth style. I feel like that was really unique to her and a lot of people really missed it. Your designs are really fun and fit monster high but I was a little sad to see spectra lost the pastels that I felt made her *her* Ok fine I’ll stop being a dumbass and edit my comment. I was wrong. I was confirmed by the creator manny was changed to be less of a stereotype and ghoulia doesn't have a reason but they don't really need one this new gen is supposed to be a completely new take on the characters and non of them are supposed to be the same character as they were in the original, the new characters dolls even release alongside the original characters dolls so they're in no way supposed to replace G1 but more be like a different multiverse of it like Miles Morales is compared to the other spiderman

I honestly just miss the original Monster High. Their designs were perfect but now they've changed by appearance and personality. Edit: I'm fine with their designs, they're unique and pretty, and they're personalities *are* different but I respect it as its a reboot. It's just the small things I don't exactly like. *I know it's a reboot,* but I honestly don't get why they made Clawdeen and Duce fall in love. Duce and Cleo were an iconic couple, but now they both have completely different love interests. And as for Ghoulia, they made her have the ability to speak, which I'm okay with, but I *personally* preferred how she spoke in the og MH movies
I love how the jokes are much darker and they have way more monster references going on though. Also the longer screentime really does the series justice

I know a lot of people are sad about the change in designs, but I'm not! I love the original designs and they definitely give me a lot of nostalgia, but I love these ones too! It's very cool to see all the different concepts you had for the characters and I think the final designs were all great. Thank you for sharing the concept art with us!

Howleen has been one of my fav characters since her big role in 13 wishes, and i absolutely adore her new design!! Shes def staying as one of the most fashionable ghouls!! Her new hair lowkey reminds me of her G1 animated series look
when saw the new ghoula i was so disappointed. she was the first monster high character i ever saw and it was a dress up game that had a one direction song playing in the background and immediately googled her name because she was so pretty and found monster high.
Only Howleen’s G1 signature doll had short hair. They changed it immediately after to longer, straight, pink hair because it was “girlier.” I like new Howleen’s hair better because I get the sense that it might actually stay curly on the doll and throughout the series (there are less variations in the outfits on Howleen than someone like Manny, so I’m assuming her doll was made beforehand). Plus, I’m a sucker for a sunset color scheme ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
The problem is they're supposed to actually improve things with the changes. There's a difference between just ignoring nostalgia to creat progress and actively degrading a product. I don't blame this artist or even *completely* blame the writers, but something like changing Manny's whole personality like that completely erases character development and changes the character dynamics in an unproductive way. A big part, like literally the main part of Manny's character was learning how to deal with his anger issues and be gentler *on purpose.* It went into his relationships with Iris Clops and how they interacted and cared about each other. It's not just whining about nostalgia ruined, it's legitimate criticism.

I think it’s good to show some different body types, but they completely erased the identity of the original characters. It would’ve been better to make new characters to match the entirely different personalities. They could be the kids of the OG cast or something. I honestly haven't paid attention to MH since the OGs got disbanded, and seeing these I miss the OGs so bad. I'm lucky I still have my one MH doll. You definitely encapsulated the vibes of each character, so good job. However I feel like its missing the don't judge based on appearance vibe that was probably the only reason I ever made friends. If you get the chance to design again, it would be awesome to see that.

Thank god they shortened Toralei's hair for the tv show. All of the dolls have really long hair and it makes them feel very similar.

These designs and your drawing style are so CUTE! The reboot did not do any of y'alls justice.
I honestly just miss the original Monster High. Their designs were perfect but now they've changed by appearance and personality.
Edit: I'm fine with their designs, they're unique and pretty, and they're personalities *are* different but I respect it as its a reboot. It's just the small things I don't exactly like. *I know it's a reboot,* but I honestly don't get why they made Clawdeen and Duce fall in love. Duce and Cleo were an iconic couple, but now they both have completely different love interests. And as for Ghoulia, they made her have the ability to speak, which I'm okay with, but I *personally* preferred how she spoke in the og MH movies
I love how the jokes are much darker and they have way more monster references going on though. Also the longer screentime really does the series justice

I love your style the art amazing and they fit certain characters but its still a little sad to see the original character be changed so much for some one who grew up with the orginals but they still look amazing and it's a new generation.

I desperately want to do this when I’m older, this and maybe designing objects in the show would be my dream job.
I'm happy to see more body types in the new lineup and redesigns. It's so incredibly important to show different types of beautiful and I hope that the reboot can do that.

I love how you can just show that you, commonly perceived as a normal random person, turned out to work for disney, monster high, and so many big companies.
I could care less about the designs, it’s just the personality changes that get me. At this point the are an entirely different character just the same name. All of their previous identities were erased for personalities overused in all types of media. Draculauras Romania identity is gone, along with Lagoons Australian bg.

I know a lot of people are sad about the change in designs, but I'm not! I love the original designs and they definitely give me a lot of nostalgia, but I love these ones too! It's very cool to see all the different concepts you had for the characters and I think the final designs were all great. Thank you for sharing the concept art with us!

Howleen has been one of my fav characters since her big role in 13 wishes, and i absolutely adore her new design!! Shes def staying as one of the most fashionable ghouls!! Her new hair lowkey reminds me of her G1 animated series look

when saw the new ghoula i was so disappointed. she was the first monster high character i ever saw and it was a dress up game that had a one direction song playing in the background and immediately googled her name because she was so pretty and found monster high.

Only Howleen’s G1 signature doll had short hair. They changed it immediately after to longer, straight, pink hair because it was “girlier.” I like new Howleen’s hair better because I get the sense that it might actually stay curly on the doll and throughout the series (there are less variations in the outfits on Howleen than someone like Manny, so I’m assuming her doll was made beforehand). Plus, I’m a sucker for a sunset color scheme ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
I’m glad they combine the pink and the orange but I agree. Her first hairstyle was the best but her G3 design is cute too

The problem is they're supposed to actually improve things with the changes. There's a difference between just ignoring nostalgia to creat progress and actively degrading a product. I don't blame this artist or even *completely* blame the writers, but something like changing Manny's whole personality like that completely erases character development and changes the character dynamics in an unproductive way. A big part, like literally the main part of Manny's character was learning how to deal with his anger issues and be gentler *on purpose.* It went into his relationships with Iris Clops and how they interacted and cared about each other. It's not just whining about nostalgia ruined, it's legitimate criticism.

The people whining about “the characters are DIFFERENT but they have the same NAME!!!!!!” Are just idiots who don’t understand what a hard reboot is. Everything’s supposed to be different, that’s the whole point. The character development from g1 doesn’t matter because this is a completely different character. Franchises from our childhoods go through hard reboots all the time, this is nothing new. Monster High fans just chose to be particularly butthurt about it. If your only criticism of g3 is “well it’s different than the one I grew up with” (which is what all of the “criticism” here actually is) then it literally is just whining about nostalgia being ruined.

I think it’s good to show some different body types, but they completely erased the identity of the original characters. It would’ve been better to make new characters to match the entirely different personalities. They could be the kids of the OG cast or something. It just feels lazy and like a slap in the face to erase many of the things we loved most about our favourite characters…

@@Nico.di.Angelo128 Erasing the identity I can agree is an issue, however I’ve mainly been seeing people bash the artist for her designs that she was paid to do… the fault of erasing the identity is to who gave the seal of approval and writing staff for their rewriting of some of the characters.
@@InvaderBB I completely agree. It’s not fair to bash artists and take out frustrations about poor writing decisions on them. Character designers have very little to no say in the final decision, and I think it’s good that this creator used the OG MH designs as reference. They’re actually pretty cool! It’s a shame her talents are being wasted on this shit show (literally)

People crying about Gen3 designs are honestly pathetic at this point. I get being upset with changes but why blame the artist when they should be more upset woth the company itself.
I honestly haven't paid attention to MH since the OGs got disbanded, and seeing these I miss the OGs so bad. I'm lucky I still have my one MH doll. You definitely encapsulated the vibes of each character, so good job. However I feel like its missing the don't judge based on appearance vibe that was probably the only reason I ever made friends. If you get the chance to design again, it would be awesome to see that.
