NICE WORK MATE 👍
Thanks!
I use 1/4 for everything.. No matter what size bait, it works for me. You need heavy weights when going deep. I use 1.6 lb's. 👍
Thanks for sharing the helpful intel
What about 3/16th. I have a 10 foot and it's amazing. I'm catching glass minnows pilchards and even the occasional mullet in less than 4 feet. But once I get to that 5-8 feet I don't even get a small bait. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the video. Is there an instruction video on throwing a net for the insiders?
Hey Tony! Check out the Fishing Tips and you can search for Cast Net. We have several videos with information on how to throw.
ok, so 1/4 inch net will sink slower then 3/8?
Is 8ft the total length or radius? In other words, is this net 16ft or 8ft total? Always confusing because sometimes brands advertise the radius, some do total. Thanks!
8ft is the length from the horn to the lead line, so it will be 16ft when opened
The wider the mesh the less parachute effect it has given the same lead weights per foot to reach the bottom quickly . I guess it depends mostly on what you are trying to catch as bait fish in size .
Thanks for the info.
Cast net cost $309 for non members with s/h for the 8ft
That's why it pays to be a member... you'd save $57 on that one purchase which is more than half of the annual fee to be part of the club. For anyone who is serious about inshore fishing, it'll more than pay for itself in terms of tackle savings.
"Like Diamonds "
Always!
I use a 8-foot 3/8 mess cast net it's perfect for sardines or shad!
Nice!
WTF no demonstration, didn't throw the net? WEAK.
This was focused on an important topic of cast nets that often gets overlooked.... we have many great videos on throwing cast nets in case interested. Here's our most popular one which shows the two most common throwing techniques for big nets: www.saltstrong.com/articles/how-to-throw-a-cast-net/
Wasn’t an instructional video. Information was intent. Try the SEARCH function or do you need a video on how that’s done? 🙂
