    Note for everyone, when you first try to implement these strategies and be more disciplined, you will get blown up by random kens and mashing players. Stick to the plan. When you check their records, they have thousands of matches but are still in the same rank with low win rates, that’s because they aren’t consistent.
    Stick to the gameplan and be disciplined and you’ll rank up. I was stuck in Diamond 4 and 5 for a long time.

      So much this. I was explaining to one of my buddies a realization I had after ranking up. I told him bad players generally do what works. Good players do what right. Great players do a combination of both. Notice when you block or tech their strategy is thrown out of the window. They never know what to do. It's kind of sad because he's interesting to watch in the right hands.

    Thanks for the big advice. I was struggled in Diamond with bad habits. I adjusted just 3 things, don't jump, and just block more often + no random drive impact. It gave me much better results.
    It is hard to reflect bad habits. But I'm still learning
    Now the new struggle is growing in Master.
    Thanks Fchamp for the tips.

    I've always felt like top players would describe certain ranks in a way that was really out of touch. They just assume people are like, never blocking, don't know any combos or things like that. In reality its usually like they have one really bad habit in particular but you would be surprised how much they understand how to play the game in a basic sense. Taking big risks in situations where it you don't have to is probably the biggest error.

    I did not unbind the DI on my pad, but a couple of months ago I did swap it with parry, so that DI was now on the left trigger.
    It was a conscious decision, as I was with DI like that mouse with the endorphine button. And it had a real effect, it really did help, and now I can go rounds, even matches without ever pressing DI, unless it's to counter someone else's one.

      Really? I am Diamond 5 right now and there's as many scrubs in that rank as there were in Gold....people do jump a bit less but DI and reversal spam are common. Your comment is old though so maybe Diamon skill level has inflated. I am shocked at the amount of Diamond and even Master level players who don't even know how to combo or anti-air...

      @starbutter2730 saw some of your matches. You're definitely good. But can tighten up some options. Against ryu, you kept spamming bakkai to punish the projectiles. It's a huge risk since you didn't use the ex version which closes more distance. Just little stuff like that you have to be mindful. You leave yourself open to some big damage for free.

    The CA to punish that jinrai is guaranteed. If you do L jinrai on someone in burnout ken is -7 and his followup doesn't jail so mashing an invincible reversal will win. If he did M jinrai due to burnout it'd be safe though so you have to differentiate the sound ken makes when he does the kick to know what version he did.

  • @Tabootrinket
    @Tabootrinket Před 9 měsíci

    I knew from back when I was rookie that the DI button was a trap.
    From the beginning I forced myself not to use it because I KNEW at high level people would punish it without even thinking about it. Now I only use it in situations where
    I consciously think that the opponent can't respond (uncancellables and burnout). It was frustrating because at first I couldn't react to it at all and people would spam it on me. And as I expected, now I'm at a level where people can react easily to DI and even I can do it too (I'm diamond 1 as I'm typing this).
    The things I really need to work on are Anti-Airing and being more disciplined with my blocks. I still have a hard time identifying when my turn comes.
    As for AA, I play Chun and she has lots of options for AA. I tried to learn all of them, but then my mental stack multiplied because I feel like not only do I have to react to the jump, but also quickly decide which option is the best depending on the distance, and the time I have left to react... I think I'll stick to one single option again for now, because I've become like a deer in front of a car's front light.

    Question- What about jumping for characters with little to no range attacks, like Jamie? After watching this vid, I have been way more consious of my jumping and doing it way less. It has helped a lot. BUT it's hard to completely stop against ranged users like Ken who spam fireballs.

    • @xemman18
      @xemman18 Před 9 měsíci

      Remember you can always parry, you have ex bakkai. You can also try and bait them with the dive kick. Throw in some neutral jumps as well. I know Ken can follow up his hadouken and dp a jump in. Just play patient.

    I think the second DI and DP was because he was expecting Jinrai low. He's trying to predict what the Ken will do which is running him into trouble.
    Same with the Level 3 at the ending...trying to punish a predicted Jinrai low. The ending was hilarious though..."can't be friends with them..."
    But I guess my question is....reads are bad?

    • @parli_poo11

    • @MFGeedorah47
      @MFGeedorah47 Před 10 měsíci

      If you're DI'ing light jinrai it gets beat by no follow up into counter DI or jump, you can always interrupt any follow up with a 7 frame invincible reversal or 4-5 frame normal. So why gamble with DI? The DP was on a max range jinrai, 5lk is way better there

    So what happens you start blocking everything, never jump, stop using DI randomly, know your combos, stop mashing, And can anti air somewhat consistently, and you still get your shit pushed in by Diamond 4-5 and master players? The advice is good up until like Diamond 3 or so but then what? Delay tech? Sure, until they start shimmying. Walk them down? Sure, then it’s low forward into drive rush into full combo. Block? Yup, now your drive gauge is getting chipped away and you’re burned out. Oh here’s the drive impact cuz you blocked too much now you’re in the corner. Sorry for the tone of the message but I’m just really curious on what you really need to be doing after Diamond 1/2 beyond the basics. It’s one thing to say all this stuff then it’s another when you’re in the corner blocking or trying to navigate Kens insane corner pressure or Kimberly’s mix. It’s not that simple and I wish content creators would stop making it seem like it’s as easy as 1-2-3. It’s not
