    rough Summary:
    1. Anti-Airs: Low rank - especially they jump a lot, and even in master+ even if they just want to test if youre ready.
    2. Perfect Parry: Pretty easy on Jump in or to react on Drive Rush - use on Wake up. Take your turn back.
    3. BnB: Just make sure you have those down - learn the optimals, get your confirms down, make your Hits count. DO THE DAMAGE!
    4. Whiff: Make sure you dont whiff, make sure your attack hits the enemy. You will get Punished cause its easier in this game. Be in range for your buttons.
    5. Be concious of your Drive Gauge - dont just go into exhaust - back up a bit when you only have 2 Meter, play some neutral and get your Gauge back.
    6. React to Drive Impacts - if youre close to the corner people tend to Drive Impact - be aware. Especially if the enemy needs to make a comeback.

Once you get to d5, it's just a matter of grinding it. I have seen so many people used like 2,000+ games to get to masters.
Literally a good player can get to master with less than 40 matches including the 10 placement matches.
They hardly put anyone against masters while you are in d5 anyways.
If you beat a master, then you get max 260 points if they have high league points.

  • @jerry3115
    @jerry3115 Před 4 měsíci +3

These are great points, but as someone currently working his way out of platinum, I think you really need to be ready to react to drive impact particularly at the lower ranks. People will throw those things out with reckless abandon at lower ranks, and being ready to destroy people who keep throwing them out will get you SO many wins. I also wanna say that you don't need truly optimal combos, you just need something reliable that you can do that will do good damage. The most important thing is that you don't drop your combos and become punishable, and if that means losing 200 damage on a punish, so be it.

    • @finatics5385
      @finatics5385 Před 4 měsíci +3

Here are things to look out for:
      Lower rank tactics:
They neutral jump a lot , and some crazy ones will land and di for no reason. Lol
Target combo into di... again, this makes zero sense but they do it.
They also like to throw out od invincible reversals after blocking a hit (aerial ones especially).
They are more likely 80+% to do od invincible reversal when they are in the corner with little life points left.
They really like to delay tech throws... and they expect you to do the sane, so be careful of the jump kick then immediately neutral jump kick from uour opponents. If you cannot aa your opponent, then it's better to take the throw most of the time.

I made master with two characters here are my tips
    One -
Chances are you’re not “not reacting to DI” rather you’re pressing buttons that aren’t special cancelable leading you to get hit by it more. Learn what you can and can’t cancel out of
    Two-
Learn a couple combos for every situation:
Learn one big combo that is a meter dump for max damage (that combos into super)
Learn a punish counter combo or two
    Learn low meter combos, bnbs
Learn side swap combos if your main has any
    Three-
Learn how to anti air relatively consistently. A lot of times if you get jumped in on, your spacing was incorrect when trying to pressure. Learn to stand just outside of their burst range (like DI or forward advance special moves) and just wait

Being more drive conscious is my current goal.
It also helps with unpredictability. If I'm doing poke DRC pressure EVERY time I'm at full gauge my opponent can read that and probably reversal me or will know to just let me waste my bar. But if I'm doing pokes into other things to safely disengage (or even just poke and nothing to see how they react), or poke into a greedy + frame turn-stealer like Rashid H Cyclone? They got a lot more on their plate to think about.

This might be a bit of a read but this actually helped me a lot with improving how I play the game and hopefully it can help you too, I got my rank placement at Gold 2 when SF6 just came out ( I main Guile ) with my general knowledge of the game and mechanics and basic punish and combos I managed to get myself to Plat 2 - after that I basically met my match and Id get washed alot but id also have a pretty decent streak so my rank didnt really move up or down. Here is what got me through all the way to Diamond:
      1. I dedicated time watching Guile tutorials, I was really fortunate to find a channel called Guiles Garden who had so many tips and tutorials plus he regularly uploads top tier Guile players replays for case studies and also very specific match ups eg. Guile vs Ken etc etc
      2. When I found a combo route I felt confident in practicing, I was basically in training mode while watching the vids to see where I was going wrong and when I got better with muscle memory I would try to learn how to extend the combos and after hours and hours if labbing I just kept stacking my ammos of combos so i felt confident for just about every scenario.
      3. I dont see this being talked about enough but, that same channel had a discord server that had a little community full of Guile players which I could reach out to for advice and also see their progress and I even joined the SF group, ( This is what actually In my opinion boosted my skills the most ) Having a community helping you grow is so underrated especially when playing fighting games feel like a lonely journey.
      4. Having a routine also is super beneficial with having a good time on SF6, before I jump into ranked matches, I go into training mode, drill a couple things, maybe even just play a couple casual matches to get the online anxieties out the way, that sort of thing.
      5. Lastly I used to care about rank a lot I damn near used to get tilted all the time..But dont hold on to what your rank is but still strive to do better than you did the last session, Rank is just an indication on where you are skill wise and just lab til you reach the next tier. Going from Gold to Diamond seemed impossible in my eyes from when I started, Diamond to Master is a whole different chapter lol, Just keep having fun :)

Obviously you need to get your damage, prevent damage, and gauge range practically. Fighting games are mostly just practice and repetition, the actual theoretical part is pretty low especially outside the tippy top levels.

Casual is a mode for experimenting, gaining more confidence with execution and testing out new things against a real opponent instead of the A.I, which isn't practical at all for sparring. Winning or losing in casual means very little for this reason.
Ranked is ranked because it's serious, with opponents less likely to jump too much, try new things, or throw out random D.I.s from Diamond 2 onwards.

AS a master player, this is the most generic unhelpful advice ever lmfao. You can sum this video up with "Learn the basics" you get to masters. They don't talk about learning what your opponent wants to or learning what other characters want to do to your character. Diamond players are very strong now with basics, character knowledge is extremely important. Learn the how and when of the characters buttons so you can navigate match ups better.
Edit: I would like to clarify for you. If this advice helps you, fantastic. For diamond players though, you're versing stronger players who "know the basics." These videos have been made by Justin Wong, brian_f, and even Punk himself on his own channel. These aren't new tips it's just a reminder of "hey, keep your fundies clean." You really need to start learning characters and the psychology of your opponent to truly get an edge that will help you climb better. Take my advice or don't, but I emplore you to consider it.
