  • The 2020 BMW X3M has the fancy new S58 powerplant and even in stock form it's quite potent. But most of us buy these cars because we know how much potential it can make with just a tune. Let's find out how big of a difference the JB4 piggyback can make in our 1/2 mile and 60-130 acceleration test.

    I'm ordering a X3M non-comp in a few days as well. It's my dd and will never be tracked so the 30hp difference is not a big deal. The chrome grill can also be swapped if I start hating it. I also don't want the 21"s either. I've had a bad experiences with 21"s on my SQ5. The X3M 20"s also happen to be my favorite wheel design of the 3 available. The only thing I wish I could get in a non-comp are the M color stitched seat belts. In the end it's the same S58 engine without a tune.

    How’s the 60-130 time 2 seconds faster but the 1/2 mile time is within half a second ? I get that it had a small deficiency to make up for cause off the line if spun more but that seemed to be made up for by the almost 1second difference 0-100

    • @SpeedLabsMotorEnvy
      @SpeedLabsMotorEnvy  Před 4 lety +1

      60-130 is time to cover speed and ½ mile is time to cover distance so it’s not going to directly translate. Most half mile racers and events don’t even time the ET, it’s all about trap speed at that point. Although I would’ve like to see a 141-142MPH because it now has a faster 60-130 than the Alfa QV (trapped 142.24MPH), the half mile trap is still a little slower. Either way, a gain of 3.5MPH is respectable for something that probably has a tremendous aerodynamic drag at those speeds.
