      Low gains on Lego are - currently - still better than investing in gold, silver or most stocks or mutual funds.
      The problem is super-success with sets that double in value in 5-6 years has made that a normal expectation for all Lego investing. My dudes and dudettes, making 20% after 5 years is fine gains.

    This is EXACTLY the video I, and many others, wanted to see. We think in terms of gains and loss, and if the loss is BREAKING EVEN, well that ain’t bad! A suggsestion for a future video would be a deeper dive on historical prices increases, to show the percentage of sets that dis meet your criteria over the years and others that didn’t (not necessarily in your portfolio, but a large data set), a bit like showing the returns on the S&P500 over the years for example (ie presenting it as a safe bet).

    As a potential lego investor, it's like any stock. Buy low, sell high. Learn from this guy, for sure. 2023 black friday deals were awesome from lego. 3x points, ratuken was 13% cash back, I bought the 400 batcave, 80 lander, recieved 60 bucks from ratuken, sitting on 8600 lego points, (cash value 50 bucks?) ..BE Patent for the big sales.... Set 21045, Trafalgar Square, is offered in MISB on eBay Germany for around 69 euros. So, depending on the market, the demand is even lower, and depending on the marketplace, you can be glad to make just a small loss with this one.
    It is helfpul that Amazon customers are a bit oblivious of competitors and are willing to pay more than necessary. 😅

  • @t.yop9
    @t.yop9 Před 7 měsíci +2

    The majority of sets don't go up in value like the examples given by your typical youtuber. The amount of sets that 2x, 3x in value are a small subset, and it's only going to get smaller due to the overproduction of Lego and the vast amounts of new sets being released each year. On local market places, the value of sets are a fraction of what they are on Ebay or Amazon. When you invest in a stock, you buy it and you forget it.
    When you 'invest' in Lego. You have to go through a lot of hoops to buy it at a low price, then go through even more hoops to sell it and ship it. Dealing with returns, scams, fees, overhead. This is all work and not an 'investment'. If you take all the time you spend on Lego 'investments' and 'sales' on driving an Uber...you'd also make 'profit'. You don't hear people talking about 'investing' in driving for Uber.

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for your comment. To be honest....sounds like your opinions here are not founded on actual experience with LEGO investing. The amount of sets that 2x and 3x in value far outweighs the number that don't, as evidenced by the thousands of people in my communities who are doing this successfully and building a business. All of the fees, overhead etc. you mention....well, of course. Nothing comes free. To build a business, you will incur some costs...that is always going to happen when you're making money. Driving for Uber also has costs. Going to your day job also has costs - it takes up 40 hours of your time per week, which is way more costly than the fees I pay to Amazon for my LEGO business. Sure, when you invest in a stock you can forget about it. But then you get 8% ROI after a year, compared to the 80% I'll be getting on my LEGO investments with just a few hours of work.

  • @LVROULETTE
    @LVROULETTE Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@BrickBucks props if you can make it work. Just seems like such a hassle to need to store those expensive sets for potentially many years. Additionally, it may give you anxiety when you go on a long trip and worry that your house will burn down or the storage facility where they are kept. They are cool sets, don’t get me wrong. my advice to you would be to buy the sets that you like the most, for you personally, and keep them for yourself and enjoy them through the years. Teach your kids how to build them and then give them to your kids someday. If you are trying to make a profit, it’s way easier to invest in the S&P 500 and just let it ride and compound over the next 30 years. Incrementally invest every month just 50% of the amount of money you were using to buy the Lego sets. Check the account in five years and you will see what I mean.

    Inflation is insane the last half decade...
    Just wanna say this: If you bought a Lego set 5y ago and sold it now... Average, you are +20%... If you left the money on your Bankaccount in the same timeframe, with intrest included,... You would max have +1,5%... Don't want to sound like a prophet or anything... Nothing to gain for me only the opposite.
    You are complaining about only having +40% in 1,5y while on the stockmarket we have 8,4% on average in the same timeframe 😂, what are we talking about really?! 😂

    Isn't it interesting that that it may just turn out that one would invest in Minecraft knowing that it's struggling, yet when this movie comes out that same wave of sets will only be available from investors? It's still bad investing if we have to hold for another year but then again will they take off after the movie or not? Hard to say. So right about Trafalgar Square as that has been my personal favorite in Architecture and it's going nowhere.
