A mate of mine who went through SAS selection told me that during the 36 hour resistance to integration one on the methods was putting them into small metal boxes where they could only just fit and then the DI would continuously slam a chain on the box to try and break them.
He told me that it might go on for only a few minutes at a time and the difference between SAS selection and this is that you know that you have a finish point but even with that the only time he was close to breaking in the whole 6 months of the selection process was when he was put in this box.
It must be absolutely horrific

The idea was to prevent future terror attacks. When you have a choice between torturing a terrorist for intel and thousands of dead civilians, I’d chose torture
@@mini8680
That idea works as excuse for the most dumb people possible.
CIA has stopped 0 terrorism attacks, caused plenty themselves on purpose, and tortured nearly 0 terrorists, just innocent civilians.
In training, you also have the ability to quit at any time during the process…
You can't prove torture if it doesn't leave marks. That's all that matters to the CIA.

If being chained from the ceiling could cause "serious long-term damage to the arms and back", isn't that physical torture?
meh I wouldn't worry about it
What they really mean is "don't do anything that can prove we tortured them".
No bodies, no proof....no proof, "conspiracy theory"
All methods used are torture, the difference is on paper.
The point of it is to punish the enemies of America and if you look at the comments under the video you will see that deep down most Americans understand and still like it.
The question is how to justify it without being as rotten as the enemy.
The difference is that it isn't acute, its chronic physical torture. Beatings and bludgeoning, burning and branding, those are acute and instantaneous damage, those do not work. Physical pain that takes days, weeks, and months to manifest is effective.
The CIA concluded that torture isn't a reliable way to collect information... so it continued torturing detainees but in a way that doesn't leave permanent physical damage. Asking for logic is too much when someone is determined to commit a crime against humanity.
*physical torture... guess you didn't watch the video and are displaying your biases.
You didn't watch the video did you :D
The purpose of torture is not to gather information, the purpose of torture is torture.
The purpose is to punish the enemies of America, and that is quite enough to justify it.
However, not if you want to present yourself as a morally superior nation fighting against the savage fanatics.
That was waterboarding, a specific kind of torture, that the CIA said was unreliable.
you have no idea the crimes they've committed and still are committing

In the world we live in, it's scary to think torture is subjective.
Not really. Water boarding is a walk in the park compared to what other world “super powersâ€â€™do on a daily basis. America just always has to be held to the highest standard possible at all times and most civilians are so insulated and ignorant to the rest of the world.
There are times in life where you have to take a long look at yourself and ask, “Am I the bad guy?†For the record, if you do any of the stuff listed in the video, the answer is “Yes, you are the bad guy.†History will judge us for this.
There are rarely things as simple as "good guys" or "bad guys" when it comes to war.
you forgot the part where most of them were not farmer or civilians, but actually terrorist willing to drive a plane full of civilians into even more civilians for some grudge
Why would history judge us for this when, based on your logic, every country to ever exist is a “bad guyâ€
I agree.
But at the same time I can imagine worse torture.
I already know that the USA has committed inhumane atrocities, and they're often the ones you never hear about.
I hope eventually we unite and work together,
But is seeking that difference to invoke conflict what makes us human?
I was taught as a kid that it was the better aspects of humanity that win out.
But now I feel that I was naive.
But I hope I am proven wrong.
Back in Vietnam 🇻🇳 they used to put small bamboo sticks on nails drive them deeper to pows. They're not judge at all today. Hard to say the USA is judged by anyone when America has the most influence and biggest ego around. Every nation does bad things.

Depending on what is happening at the time, is doing this stuff to a person that’s like a child killer or something real bad and there’s a chance to save a kid or something along those line then ok maybe some stuff like this wouldn’t be as bad. But holy sh A lot of the folks that had to deal with this and had potential not done nothing wrong, yikes that’s a bad look on the USA but I’m sure when people get a lil power over someone or others it’s amazing what people can change into.
Shoving them in a tiny box was actually invented during the Spanish Inquisition. When you can't stretch your legs out for so long, the built-up lactic acid causes your legs to go into spasm. Imagine a severe charlie horse and you can't stretch out your legs.
