A Gift to Myself: Building a Sewing Nook

- I built a Victorian sewing space in the midst of our living room. It took me almost a year, but this way it was possible to afford the things I really like and what I feel make the space complete.
I wish everyone happy holidays!

I like it. The shelves look marvelous and go so nicely with the dresser.
Thank you! It was pure luck that they so well together, but I'm really happy about it.
I'm all for nice clutter! Your space looks lovely!
Thank you! Nice clutter is the best unless it gets way too much. 😂
I have come to realize I am so fond of your videos the description could read, “…says random stuff…” and I would watch the video three times. 😂😂😂
🥰😂🥰 Your comment just made me smile sooo much!
I am always worried that what I film and do is too random or unorganized. But now I will save this comment as a gentle reminder that this might be ok, too. Thank you!
@@ankanyofficial I have ADHD. Your videos seem very helpful, interesting, AND organized to me! 👍🏼❄️😘
@@MichiaMakes Perception is such an interesting thing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. ☺️🤍🌨️
One word.... STUNNING 🥰
Congratulations 👏🎉❤
And thank you 💖🙏
Thank you! 😊
Oh this is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing the entire process. Now your machines have a place of honor and what a joy to work in this space. The family connections is so sweet. I love the antique dresser for all the sewing supplies and will definitely be doing that in my sewing space. Sending Joyful Holiday wishes to you from Canada❄
I can absolutely recommend a dresser of this kind. It holds enough of all the supplies and tools and still it doesn't get too much stuff.
I really like incorporating family connections in my project since it's fun to learn more about the past and feeling connected to it.
Sending joyful whishes from Germany. ☺️
Your new space is beautiful and graceful. I love that you have a picture of you (great?) Granny as part of you space and your grandmothers sewing machine is beautiful. So is the children's machine. Well done and enjoy!

If I'm not mistaken, it's a great great aunt. ☺️
Thank you! I already pass so much time in this area of the room, that I think it was really worthwhile creating it.
@@ankanyofficial Wonderful. It really does make all the difference having a space of ones' own. Congratulations. Well done!
What a beautiful room, letS have a cuppa
Thank you! I regularly sit down and have a cup of tea here. :D
Well done! Lovely sewing room.
Thank you!
It's a fantastic space; so elegant and lovely!
I think the child's sewing machine is absolutely delightful!
Thank you!
Yes, this machine is so cute.
@@ankanyofficial maybe you could sew miniature "practice clothes" on it?
I just made my first "mannequin/dressmaking model". Its about 12" high. Made out of "mock roving" (the fluff inside medicine bottles"), wrapped around steel wire, then, itself wrapped in 1" strips of sheeting. It's actually "pin-able". I'm excited to use it!
@@catherinejustcatherine1778 I have no idea what this fluff in medicine bottles is. 🤔 I think we don't have this here in Germany, but I bet making a mannequin out of it is a great way to use it.
I'm thinking about making miniature samples with this machine and maybe using them as actual doll clothes. ☺️
@@ankanyofficial that sounds like a wonderful idea. The fluff used to be made out of cotton "wool" (almost the texture of sloppy roving, it comes in a single length and thickness, much like roving. It's the same stuff as factories use to make 'cotton' balls). It is used to help keep the medicine tablets, capsules & such more dry than desiccant pouches alone can manage. It seems to be used less and less these days.
@@catherinejustcatherine1778 I have never seen medicine packed this way here, but it seems it's a great material to use as stuffing.
If your space isn't cluttered, are you even making something?🤔
Probably not. :D
