It's crazy that this is the last true street race of the franchise.
Fast 6 dom v letty is the last one I can think of
Also the one with the police cars in Fast V
Dom v Jakob in 9
Dom & Letty in 6
Cuba Race in 8
@@Dannyspotchka615 all gay
@@jetstreamdefalpha5411 8's Cuba race was fun
This race seems like it was heavily influenced by Midnight Club Los Angeles, which came around the same time.
Was going to say the same thing especially the traffic on the road you don’t see street racing like this irl
Ghetto Smurf is a nod to Gone in 60 Seconds when Mirror Man shows Donnie the new fingerprint hiding thingys
Where ma gloves at ?
This is best street races scene in fast furious franchise
I agree bro,
Along with the final race of tokyo drift its up there
It probably was supposed to be a 2010 e60 m5
0:58 It looks like in that hologram thing it's an E60, so I would assume this is correct.
@@PatFussy069 They probably thought it'd be too ugly lol.
but with the V10 sound would only come from a S85 which is the only V10 bmw produced
11:30 Brian has a history of almost running out of gas yet never actually running out. The gas light was on in his evo in 2f2f.
Oh damn I didn’t even notice!
@@TheRacingJoker i just noticed myself watching a clip on CZcams a month or two ago 😂🤦♂️ after 20 years and watching it hundreds of times I'm still noticing new things.
Weight reduction bruh
To me an E39 V10 M5 would be badass. I’m sure someone has done that swap irl
As a kid it didn’t sound that out of place because watching top gear growing up I was aware of the E60 M5 existing and that made the same noise

5:40 this is the reason I say this street race is the best one no matter how many takes it really is. When Brian is forced to go off corse and starts drifting half circles between ally ways is just sick as hell! And the drift brain does when he’s trying to avoid the BMW flipping, that scene was awesome!
I've been trying to tell people that brian's the real drift god for years!!!!
@@gtamenace9743 RIGHT!!! Considering this movie came long before Tokyo Drift in chronological order Brian was basically doing more insane drifting long before DK and Sean arrived on scene lol 😂
Scramble boost allows the ECU or Turbo controller to bypass the preset boost settings and give a little more juice. For example, your car is set to max 15psi. Using the "scramble" boost feature allows you to briefly 25 psi for that added kick. It doesn't last long though, usually a few seconds since it puts so much strain on the turbocharger. I believe this is a feature in most rally cars and one time in the stock Porsche 911 GT2 (can't recall what year)
That sounds badass. You set up your car to run 700 horsepower with a 1000 horsepower engine and its like briefly switching maps to make a pass. Neat alternative to DRS
@@TheRacingJoker If you're interested, there's an anime called "Wangan Midnight" where the main car is a heavily tuned 240Z. Later on in the show, an Evo V with scramble boost shows up to race with said Z. The show gives a more detailed explanation to the feature.
I think something similar is in the new Veloster N where they let you increase the turbo boost higher than its normal boost for like 30 seconds or something but then it needs to cool down for like 2 or 5 minutes.
or You could check out some of Smokey Nagata's early exploits during his R33 days.
@@marxteven dun dun DUN!!! THE DEVIL Z!
I learned about Wangan Midnight from the series of "Maximum Tune" arcade cabinets. Racing someone while listening to Yuzo Koshiro's slamming beats was quite the adrenaline rush.
7:05 we just gonna ignore how Brian told the GPS to shut up 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like we’ve all done that lol
I mean hasn't everyone at one point in life yelled at their GPS?
This entire race sums up Midnight club in a nutshell
Scramble boost is basically a boost setting where the the PSI are raised above the normal setting the cars tuned on and when scrambled / activated it sends the boost up to create like a push to pass thing like what f1 had at one time
You can use nitrous pretty much like a video game if you want. Along as you are at full throttle and you are turning atleast 3000ish rpm. You should be fine. Also, a 100 shot of nitrous will last about a minute and a half from a 10lb bottle(most common size).
Kinda of meta but I run a 50-75 shot with a 15 pound bottle. Great for highway pulls
@@TheJMan1K Oh, what I'd give to have that opportunity. Not for fun, but to get away from all the people who are just putting along in the car AND in their heads. The same kind of people who _don't_ build up speed while on the onramp, just coasting at 40 while everyone's going 65+ and is impossible to get around. >.
100 percent has to be the best race in the entire franchise
The Tokyo Drift end race is fantastic. And this is magnificent. You have Dom with his Chevelle taking on all challengers head on and then Brian trying to use his Skyline to manoeuvre his way out of a pickle.
Just the idea of an r34 in a street race in `california' is so cool to me.
4:30 they probably got mistaken with the 2007 model BMW M5 because those do come with v10s
E60 had a V10
12:26 check out the mcr gtr r34 to see it in action. Scramble boost is when you temporarily increase boost pressure for more power. So if you had 600hp you can increase to 650hp etc. Kind of like infinite nitrous if you think about it.
12:49 probably the same people who developed Street Racing Syndicate.
Brilliant
This scene is great, even with the whole franchise going to space nowadays xD, keep up the good work.
Keep killin it, these videos are how i start my mornings
"scramble boost" actually is a thing. basically you force your boost controller/ecm to keep the waste gate shut and run whatever amount of boost that your turbo(s) is capable of outputting based on your tune
13:04 “go cry to yo mamma eh?” I use that all the time🤣💀
Speaking of scores I love the “Letty” Score from this movie so beautiful
The reason for the various takes is that it attracts attention and working memory assessment, ergo the crash will feel sudden as the production intended. Thanks for your entertaining takes!
Makes sense. As a kid I was able to follow the racing a little bit better. But now with all the different takes I for some reason get overwhelmed and can’t always follow what’s going on
I love when the gps says "please wait while I download the data" and then it’s the shot of everyone doing burnouts
i kind of see why brian was mad dom hit him so many times in that race on porpose
12:00 actually yes. There's a few ways to activate nitrous. You can press a button or have it timed so it automatically activates within a certain rpm range. I'm sure there's other ways but I don't remember for sure.
Does it release like a Antilag type fire out of your exhaust like in games & movies?
@@BayAreaMike99 depends on what kind of nitrous system you have
In terms of nitros. There are a few types you can get. They all involve and require tuning to some degree
1. Is your Typical 100shot or 200 shot that you add in for top speed/add more power over the whole rev range. This is a bit old school but by far the cheapest option.
2. Is a staggered nitros injection. Bascially you tune your ecu to add in the nittos at certain points to fill in gaps of power or torque
3. Is they place a trigger button under the throttle pedal and when it makes contact it slowly injects the nitros upon full throttle. Again some tuning is needed for air fuel to work right.
Hope this helps
This is the content I subscribed for
Little fun fact, at 7:27 that horn recording is also used in Midnight Club Los Angeles.
12:31 I laughed my ass off when I also realized it was a gunshot sound. I will never be able to not hear this
Whenever I play GTAO and the yellow line appears for the standard GPS route; I always have that GPS voice (from this movie, the “Rerouting”) go off my in head when I refuse to follow it because I really know the map very well.
I used to apologize to my truck after 2 am last call and the hook up choices were slim...
You can hit the nitrous whenever. And scramble button basically lifts the boost limit on your engine mapping. You see it in street outlaws where they tune for the road and run lower boost to limit power, and if they're behind or it's a close race they hit the button which gives them all the boost.
Im watching a bunch of your videos love the work man enjoying the making fun of iconic car movies
I didn’t predict it to be so popular but I enjoy doing it
@@TheRacingJoker ofcorse it would also the agera clip were you look up to see if its legal is funny as hell probably my favorite part of the videos so far
"Sorry car" I felt that.
3:40 a common theme I've noticed in pretty much every fast and furious movie is almost every shift is back and forth between 3rd and 4th gear. My theory is those are the two easiest gears to shift between which makes it easier for the actors. Plus it's hard to shift into first or fifth if the car is really an automatic (i.e. the supra and eclipse in 2f2f).
Yeah I’d have to agree with you on that. It’s probably the best looking throw on a shifter
Yes you can use nitrous when ever you want if you have it set up that way… and scramble is a button you set up to bypass your boost controller and make all the boost if you really wanna risk it for the biscuit
One of my favorite races in the series and definitely one of my favorite movies. Unfortunately with Paul Walker's passing this series has drastically gone downhill
0:44 That was a 540i with an E39 M5 body kit. I'm pretty sure they used E60 M5 sound effects for it.
4:00 If you downshift release the clutch and hold on the brake it slows you down significantly
So engine braking
@@mikblues_146 yes
in that case it probrably more be to stay in the power/boost range
Scramble boost is very realistic thing in 90s tuning car and even modern factory Porsches. You will get 10 seconds of extra boost and torque upon request, but the turbo isn't supposed to boost at that pressure for sustained periods of time.
Less gas = lighter car son & bro, it’s jus a movie 😂 but still , one of the best race scene of the entire franchise
🚗💨
A good point! It can be a gamble though. I was watching an IMSA race and a Mercedes AMG team decided to roll the dice and not refuel to save time and had to slow down and give up the lead. They crossed the finish line but lost a ton of positions
The fast and the furious was enjoyable and somewhat down to earth.
But then they started to change cam view 1000times/min. And adding stupid GPS graphics and shit
Why is it making v10 sounds: If you study the cgi M5 car in the GPS you would notice they intended for that car to be the E60 generation M5 and it would have had a v10 in it. The sound team probably did not know any better.
The E39 was swapped in probably for logistic reasons or they just couldn't find a caged and serious looking manual E60 (manual for all the shifting sequences, as it's so essential to the series) in time for this at the last minute.
The E60 eventually came to in F6 I think, when multiples of them got obliterated by the flip car.
You should do real street races irl vs fast & furious races never seen a race like this irl some Midnight Club LA type races
he is brian he doesnt need a fcking gps 😂❤
He doesn't need roads either lol. Got a bit of that Doc Brown in him I guess.
V10 swapped E39 M5 would be sick
It would be baller!
Scramble boost sets the boost pressure higher for a short point.
Pretty the skyline buggy car was only used for the part when it gets driven down the cliff when Brian says sorry car! I could be wrong tho
Dom races like a gta online racer confirm
We need a cinema sins style video like this on the entire movie
Good news, he's doing the whole franchise
I’m doing ALL the movies lol
The guy's face looks like a Smurf also his voice is high pitched like one.
6:15 Still makes me laugh Brian was going the wrong way and could have won way faster.
I always wanted to know how did Don and Brian hear each other from their cars lol
Nitrous, yeah you use whenever but I would highly doubt you want to add the stress to the tires when coming out of a corner mid race....
For the scramble boost, at the time, there was a japanese brand that had developed the system for the R34 which would in turn up the boost as long as yo ukept it pressed, but as other mentioned that would create more stress on all components so the idea was to use it when needed not all the time, it was an overboost like the 335is had when flat out that would up the boost, they called it scramble and some other companies took the idea and implemented it as well until it reached the OEM market. You can see it in a few of bestmotorings reviews for tougue racing in a red R34
This my favorite franchise
the orange bmw is a e39 540i made to look like an m5 with edited sound to be alike a bmw e60 v10
The next gen M5 after this one had a V10. Either side of this were V8s. I wonder if they wanted to use the “current” M5 as of the time of the film but just weren’t able to and instead just used a V10 engine sound dubbed in. Would make sense?
i cant wait when you do videos on fast five
If your tires arent spinning, you arent winning 💯🤣
There WAS an M5 that was a rare V10 version. Produced between 05-10. They stopped production in 2010 with no intention of bringing it back due to sales numbers. Or it was just F&F taking F&F liberties like they like to do.
The E60 M5 had the S85 V10, the E39 in the movie would’ve been the S62 V8
Scramble boost is part of a boost controller that allows a temporary allowance of a higher psi max than usual.
Like DRS for tuners I guess
Every interior shot of the skyline that Paul was in was of a R34 GT-T, with the yellow fonts and silver background on the gauges. The MFD screen is just something they made out of a blank screen, and the details added in post.
A GTR dashboard would be black background (standard) or white background with black letters (nismo upgrade)
To that front, the 2f2f gauges were actually correct.
Bro I get that same giddy feeling when I hear the Fast & Furious/ NFS Underground R34 sound🤭😌😌😌
With the BMW its possible explanation is that the guy engine swapped it with the V10 from the 2010 M5 model
When Dom wheelies in his Chevelle, that's the sounds from the first movie with the Charger vs Supra race. They seem to reuse sounds a lot from previous films. I never noticed it as a kid but now that I'm so into cars I can remember engine sounds (sad, I know) I notice it more in later movies. Idk if it's just me, but that BMW sounds like an Audi R8/Lamborghini Gallardo. A lot of these movies it feels like they asked, "What will make this seem more action packed? I know! Cuts! Lots and lots of jump cuts! All the cuts, goddamn it!" When Brian says "Sorry, car." I say that to my cars a lot when I hit a pothole I wasn't quick enough to avoid, or I have to stop fast because the person in front of me wasn't looking down the road and slammed on their brakes, or when I have to pull out quick because I don't want to cut anyone off.
I’m honestly cool with them reusing sounds, I associate the sounds with the characters
What bothered me a lot (saw movie when it was launched) that they are reving standart bmw, look at gauge that is 100% not M5 gauge
11:37 actually pretty smart less fuel less weight better ingredients Papa John’s
1:43 Blue Technology in a screen.
Unbelievable
The M5 may have a V10 noise because BMW used a V10 in the E60 M5 and the E63/64 M6 (The S85) and the driver did an engine swap.
They probably just used fake sounds, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that someone swapped the E39 M5's (if the one in the movie even is an M5) V8 for the S85 V10 from the E60 M5.
I was just talking with a buddy about the m5. I think there was some confusion between audio and technocal advisors or some bs. The generation after that E39 M5 (4.4 V8) is the E60 M5 which does have a V10. Jesus Christ i'm such a nerd
Uhhh well I can understand the scramble boost is just another term for boost increase but it’s incorrect for nitros since scramble boost is literally using a boost controller to increase turbo psi for more power for a certain amount of time depending on how you have the boost controller set up not for nitros
They used both a VW stunt car for some scenes, and a real GTR for close ups and rolling shots.
The Guy in the E39 Bmw probably swaped the V10 from the E60 m5
0:41. The animation for the Silvia S14 shows it as an S15
Weird I somehow didn’t notice that
The m5 sounds like a v10 because I read that it was supposed to be swapped to the m5 v10 I forgot where I read that but I was also curious on that too 😅
It’s a cool idea! The E39 M5 is a baller car
@@TheRacingJoker oh hell yea it is it's the one bmw that is the most desirable to me but I don't got the money to maintain that yet 😂
scramble boost just means pretty much it cranks your boost controller to its max fuck the safety and health of your engine. and for the nos thing...i think so aslong as its been purged you can have it to a button aslong as its been tuned for it. but im not positive due to ive never had nos nor do i plan to unless i build some crazy pro drift car or something where its actually needed
At 1:48 you can see an m5 e60 instead of the e39 maybe that explains the v10 noises was it supposed to be an e60 but they cheap out 😅
Could be! I included that screenshot to hint at where the sound might be coming from
main thing in this race is how hell BMW 540 OR FAKE M5 GOT engine sound from m5 e60 instead of having real one but its fast and furious
0:59 maybe they intended to use a E60 but since it was a new car at the time it wouldn't fit f&fs style of older cars so they just used the v10 E60 sounds for and also a manual car with a v10 is cool so u can't really blame them for using those sounds
11:40 Brian is almost out of gas for weight reduction 🤣
The E60 M5 was a V10 wasn’t it? That was 2004 and this was what a few years after that so maybe someone got confused.
Or maybe like you said they just wanted different - could’ve been worse, a produced could’ve gone Zonda V12!
Yes it was, but the car here is the E39. Folks have swapped in an E60 M5 V10 into them before so maybe the car in the movie has a similar story.
In all honesty though Dom did loose the race, that was a cheap move
I’ve been saying this for years and people still think I’m the crazy one for saying it. Dom cheated, Brian won that race. I remember the first time I saw that race on the big screen, I was so pissed. This race would have been perfect for me otherwise had that not have happened
1:47 ONCE AGAIN, THEY'RE UNINTENTIONALLY PROVING MY POINT!
0:57 ANIMATION ERROR SPOTTED! They proved me right about my last comment.
I love this race, it's the best in the movie series, reminds me of Midnight Club Los Angeles and Need For Speed 2015.
3:30 that was a shift. You don't lift off the throttle when doing a clutch kick.
I want to see more edits of you like you are in a FnF race. High octane Nos boosted public endangering chair sitting.
I still think it’s funny that Brian is seen as a “good guy” yet he is willing to kill people to win a car race.
The M5 had V10s between 2004 and 2010.
E39’s didn’t which is the one in the film. The E60 M5 that came after had a V10
They had V8’s in the E39 M5. The rest were straight 6 engines
The BMW M5 literally comes with a 5L V10, so yes, it makes v10 sounds.
The E39 M5 literally does not come with a V10, the E60 M5 does
@@TheRacingJoker right, but it isnt as far fetched. More like a case of using a car they can afford/have access to, instead of the car they wanted (the v10). The E60 was already out by then, I think?
@@Vittinable yeah I think so
The BMW is supposed to be an M5 (even if for the filming they just took some 520 or 525i)
but we don't know why they took the E60 V10 sound, its an E39 "M5" and it has a V8 only. Maybe they suppose its swapped.
It's the same as in Fast 6, where Hobbs recite the specs of the F10 M5 with twin turbo V8 but the cars used were the E60 M5.
@@takumifujiwara13954 Crazy to have that kind of errors when you have some car specialists working on the thing. Even if they don't work on the script you can ask them
Best guess is they wanted it to sound different from Dom’s chevelle. An E39 V8 would sound just like a muscle car to most people
@@TheRacingJoker I beg to differ though. E39's V8 is more high pitched than American V8s.
The reason that Doms Chevelle did a wheelie I did some research on they had a weight I guess they made invisible on the back of the car with a 502 Big block under the hood that said it would wheelie with the slightest touch of the gas pedal
It wasn't the V10. I'm sure that's the V8 in the 535i or 540i that they made to look like a E39 M5.
Ok so.. What a "scramble boost" meant is that most ECU or tuners would just put some base boost figure for the turbo or turbos to hold and the ECU remembers it but in extra storage, they'll try to jack additional boost figure for the car to use for a split second to increase the boost pressure for a few seconds to increase torque and speed.
So for example, (Let's just call it tuner A) tuner A has an Evo X with a turbo that he sets at 25psi which makes 450hp. He/she knows that to keep the engine long and lasting during an endurance event, a steady boost where it doesn't fluctuate much gives it a chance to win. However, tuner A lost the event as it was slower than the other cars on the straight and they needed another extra boost but not keep it consistent and blow up the engine. So, they coded it into the ECU to allow an extra 5psi of boost for 10sec which automatically disengages after 10sec or upon release of the button that they can use on the straight which that 5psi adds an extra 50hp to the engine. This allows them to up the boost to use for the straights but not keep the boost pressure that high all the time and potentially break the car.
It's just sort of what turbo cars do that make it add like nitrous. Drag cars have them and most high speed tuners have them too. Certain Mines GTR has it and MCR's famous red "maou" R34 GTR has it too where regularly on normal boost, it's making about 600hp but with the push of the button, it ups hp to 700 for 5-10sec (I can't remember how much exactly) which makes it an absolute beast both on the street and track.
So is the Chevelle that Dom is driving the same one from the first movie or is it just a different one also whatever happened to the Maximus charger he had? in fact whatever happened to the black Dodge Challenger?
M5 s85 came out in a v10 so they probably used that sound? Maybe we are ment to think he swapped a v10 into the e39.
E39’s didn’t which is the one in the film. The E60 M5 that came after had a V10
They had V8’s in the E39 M5. The rest were straight 6 engines
@@CrazyPanda688 yeah that's true, I should have been more specific. The sound department must have used the v10 sound by mistake or on purpose who knows.
Yeh wen U got family U can wheel stand any car U drive 🤣
You weren’t wrong, you were right, the M5 was in fact powered by a V10.
Such a great sounding engine. But also super complicated to maintain
@@TheRacingJoker amen brother. Love you man, keep up the amazing work.
Why did they not just use the e60 M5 with the s85 v10 if they wanted to make v10 noises with a BMW. Me yelling at my screen. Gurrr haha
Probably weren’t any available, they have to go with what cars are volunteered. They probably just did the V10 sound so it would sound distinct
They did make an m5 with a v10 in 2004 to 2010 but I dont think the one in the movie is a stock v10 car
