Oh yes...I grew up in NW Arkansas. I still live about 25 miles from where I grew up at. BUT, I am 55 now and back in my days as a kid, we never locked our house when we went to the store. No one did. No one came in and took ANYTHING. It was a pretty good day back then. I had moved away for about 3 years and came back in 1992 when my dad passed away. I was at my home where I grew up in and mom and dad always lived there. I told mom I was going to go take a walk to clear my head. (This was a week after my dad had died.) I remember that I didn't walk far and turned around and came back home. I remember overwhelming fear. This wasn't the same place it used to be. We say all the time that we want to live in Mayberry in that time period... Lol.
That was nice to see. The cells need to be decorated like a nice cozy bedroom like it was on the show. I watch four episodes of the show every night. I can watch it over and over it’s that good. Better than the trashy shows of today.
That kitchen reminded me of my grandparents old house. It didn't have that color scheme or look, but it gave me that same feeling from when I was a kid. Nostalgia, lots of nostalgia. The creaky floor added to the ambience too. Lol "citizen's arrest, citizen's arrest!" When you mentioned that, immediately that popped into my head. Love the show.
Me and my family had the privilege to get to spend a night in that house that Andy Griffith grew up in. We’ve always loved the show. To get to be there and spend time in his hometown will always be a wonderful memory I will always have for the rest of my life.
I love that movie don knotts did when he turned into a fish I cant remember the name grrr I think it was mr. Limpett something if some can remember please remind me
I returned to my rural small town a few years ago and basically not much has changed. The old men (who were kids with me) still hang out at the local cafe, although nobody’s drinking Cokes and smoking cigarettes. Everybody’s got electricity and indoor plumbing and less Sunday afternoon visiting, but upon hearing of a neighbors death or misfortune the cakes and casseroles parade starts. As youngsters we couldn’t wait to graduate and leave “Mayberry” behind but many of us have returned after retirement and taken up the mantle of being good neighbors.
I wholeheartedly agree 100% I love and miss ole times back when growing up us kids entertainment was watching a B&W Television, there were no video games, computers, laptops, no cellphones - we huddled around together watching Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, Gilligan’s Island, I Love Lucy, etc. Our hometown has been all torn down and remodeled to build The Bicycle Hotel and Card Casino completely ruined Bell Gardens (California) took down all mom and pop stores, restaurant, houses, and so on so yes I agree with You, it sucks. The simplicity of life I once knew and loved when young and as a young adult is no more. All for a dang Hotel/Casino. It’s that way lotsa places in the world like ole {Route-66} we use to enjoy traveling from California to Oklahoma to visit family - Again, sucks! Oohhps, SORRY for sucha long comment guess I got a bit carried away, LOL! I hate city life love the country and that’s something else Olusree, Oklahoma same thing there too it’s all different, Uggh ! ! ! So Ahh, yeah I get You🫢🥰🙄🤔
@@lorihamlin3604 🥰 Woww, I love that! Wished that’s what I found yrs later when I returned back to Bell Gardens, CA and Olustee, Oklahoma Because like I said earlier in a reply my hometown has been ruined by a damn Bicycle Hotel and Casino, I hate all the changes caused by it. K Ruined the entire town, in-fact it’s no longer considered “a Town” it’s grown more into like a City and what use to be a small rural area especially in Olustee, Oklahoma😢 where my grandmother use to live, it WAS country Both are ruined by doing what I refer to as they’ve been “Citified” (I don’t even know if citified is a legit word, I made it up (LOL)😳

Mt Airy coolest most nostalgic town ever. One of the best things is that you got to stay in Andy Griffith’s childhood home. Nice house and beautifully decorated on the inside. The first five seasons of the show were my favorites. Those were the simpler quieter days. Love everything about Andy’s hometown. Thank you for sharing your visit and stay in.the house with us. Brings back a lot of good memories. Stay safe .
One of the few crisp memories I still have of my mother. My brother and sister would go to school, then we would watch The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy together with lunch. I may have to go here. It's not far from where I'm moving to.
Well lots of NC is sm towns where I am there's not 1 fast food place or much of anything oh a few places to eat 1 bank,1 Pharm,1 store & 1 dollar store,Vet & 2 gas stations & that's it but some towns are adorable & plenty of empty houses..
It was really interesting to see how a tourist views the town! I live here and the squad car tours, down town, and all the "Mayberry" brandings are just part of life. Really loved to seeing the excitement it brings to those who don't see everything as the norm.😊
When my kids were babies I cut the cable off and played these DVDs. They've grown up on Gilligans Island, Hogans Heroes, Bonanza, Sanford and Son, Gomer Pyle, The Addams Family etc. They're late teens, early twentys now and we still enjoy them. And still no cable. Bye the way..... there great kids.

I believe the dining room was actually the front porch or sunroom and someone decided to tear open the wall to create the knee wall to create the open concept look. Andy's family probably always ate in the kitchen, but may have slept on the sun porch if it was screened at some point on hot summer nights. That's what folks did back then, before A.C.
@@comedicsketches Your statement is inaccurate. There are approximately 60 million people still alive today that were kids and teens when the show aired new episodes. Thanks, I am a 55 year old woman who grew up watching the Andy Griffith show as a little girl. I have watched episodes as I have gotten older too. You are right...it is probably the best wholesome show ever! Sure don't make them like that anymore. My husband left me July 2nd 2020....I disconnected the TV as I don't watch it. The commercials even make me sick. Disgusting what they call entertainment these days. We wonder what has happened to our youth, our society as a whole. Most young people under 35 don't know what really good wholesome TV was. I am thankful that I do. Thank you for the walk down memory lane. LOL, even when you spoke about the kitchen table, it made me think about the first one we had when I was a child. I can see it clearly in my mind. Reminds me of some of the old cars. Had the metal silver wrap around. Table was like a mint green and white. Can't remember the design. Matching chairs. 🙂

That was nice to see. The cells need to be decorated like a nice cozy bedroom like it was on the show. I watch four episodes of the show every night. I can watch it over and over it’s that good. Better than the trashy shows of today.
Thumbs up to that
I remember watching Andy Griffith when I was little, I'll be 50 this year I also watched Mayberry r.f.d.
The Andy Griffith show has become one of my favorites because of Adam. Huge fan of Don Knotts. I watch an episode or three every evening now.
My home NC enjoyed the tour very much and yes the Andy Griffith show is still on it was a great show Iconic
I always loved the show. I’m so glad they saved some of the real items they used! Andy Griffith .. what a wonderful person.
Cool seeing the passerbys perspective of Mayberry. I've lived in Mt. Airy and Pilot Mountain all my life. Love my towns. :)
How far is that from hickory nc
@@305BigBlaz about an hour and a half
Are there mtns there? Thinking of driving up? Is there any state parks around that area
@@305BigBlaz Well, there's the Pilot Mountain state park. It's beautiful in fall with all the orange trees. I'd highly recommend it.
@@AdrianaBarron1 thank you I think I will enjoy this trip.
Always loved Andy, Barney, and Opie ☺Great tour! Thank you for taking us along😊👍
OMG, I just love this. I grew up watching Andy and now I want to watch all the old episodes again. Thanks for the memories.
The Andy griffin show is on Pluto it has its own Channel 24 hours a day enjoy.
Me and my family had the privilege to get to spend a night in that house that Andy Griffith grew up in. We’ve always loved the show. To get to be there and spend time in his hometown will always be a wonderful memory I will always have for the rest of my life.
My family has a large obsession with the Andy Griffith show!! My grandma knows almost everything about the show!
If you love Don Knotts watch " The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" , classic!!!
He had on that same salt and pepper suit seen here that he also wore in Mayberry.
I can well remember just how funny that show was. Barney has always been my favorite.
I love that movie don knotts did when he turned into a fish I cant remember the name grrr I think it was mr. Limpett something if some can remember please remind me
Atta Boy, Luther!!
Yes, absotively awesome. Ty for sharing 💓
It's a shame how the "simplicity" of life has been effectively erased with modern rhetoric 😔
It truly is a shame.
Simplicity for whom?
I returned to my rural small town a few years ago and basically not much has changed. The old men (who were kids with me) still hang out at the local cafe, although nobody’s drinking Cokes and smoking cigarettes. Everybody’s got electricity and indoor plumbing and less Sunday afternoon visiting, but upon hearing of a neighbors death or misfortune the cakes and casseroles parade starts. As youngsters we couldn’t wait to graduate and leave “Mayberry” behind but many of us have returned after retirement and taken up the mantle of being good neighbors.
I wholeheartedly agree 100%
I love and miss ole times back when growing up us kids entertainment was watching a B&W Television, there were no video games, computers, laptops, no cellphones -
we huddled around together watching Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, Gilligan’s Island,
I Love Lucy, etc.
Our hometown has been all torn down and remodeled to build
The Bicycle Hotel and Card Casino completely ruined Bell Gardens (California)
took down all mom and pop stores, restaurant, houses, and so on so yes I agree with You,
it sucks.
The simplicity of life I once knew and loved when young and as a young adult is no more.
All for a dang Hotel/Casino.
It’s that way lotsa places in the world like ole {Route-66} we use to enjoy traveling
from California to Oklahoma to visit family - Again, sucks!
Oohhps, SORRY for sucha long comment guess I got a bit carried away, LOL!
I hate city life love the country and that’s something else Olusree, Oklahoma
same thing there too it’s all different, Uggh ! ! !
So Ahh, yeah I get You🫢🥰🙄🤔
@@lorihamlin3604 🥰
Woww, I love that!
Wished that’s what I found yrs later when I returned back to
Bell Gardens, CA and Olustee, Oklahoma
Because like I said earlier in a reply
my hometown has been ruined by a damn Bicycle Hotel and Casino,
I hate all the changes caused by it.
K
Ruined the entire town, in-fact it’s no longer considered “a Town”
it’s grown more into like a City and what use to be a small rural area
especially in Olustee, Oklahoma😢
where my grandmother use to live, it WAS country Both are ruined by doing what I refer to
as they’ve been “Citified” (I don’t even know if citified is a legit word, I made it up (LOL)😳
I still binge the Andy Griffith Show
This is the video we didn’t know we needed. Thanks for the nostalgia Adam!
I love this video. It's like going home. I am glad that Andy's childhood home is being enjoyed by an aficionado like you, Adam. You, as always, have really done your homework and footwork.😁👏
Stay safe .
I think that's the most beautiful kitchen i have ever seen.
One of the few crisp memories I still have of my mother. My brother and sister would go to school, then we would watch The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy together with lunch. I may have to go here. It's not far from where I'm moving to.
I don't think that The Andy Griffith Show has ever gone off the air in NC.
thats true
Still played here too. Classic. Loved his crime show 'Matlock' also.
Don't they have a 24/7 station? :)
It hasn’t I live here
In GA TO
I've always wished I could live in a town like Mayberry. I use to love this show when I was a kid, and I still watch it in syndication.
NC girl who loves any of your Andy-themed videos. Travel safely, Adam! Thanks for the diversion during the quarantine. 😊
❤❤❤
Your a good looking nc girl, I'm in Yadkin co
Ohhh...Floyd was my favorite character! I just loved him! ♥️
I still watch the Andy Griffith show. Thanks for sharing this video, it shows the good that’s still left in America 🇺🇸. 💯
One of my all time favorite shows, always wished I could visit and sit at Ant B’s dinner table # one of the best shows ever❤️❤️❤️
John turning off the cable is one of the best things you could do for your family
Amen to that. My husband left me July 2nd 2020 and I turned off the TV. NOTHING good on that thing. Commercials are even horrible.
That was SO cool! It would be well worth staying at Andy Griffith’s real house! AWESOME! Grew up watching the show. My grandson loves the show today. So wonderful how such a good wholesome show can span so many generations. I will have to put it on my bucket list to go there. Thank you for the tour Adam! 😊❤️🙏
Still watch to this day. Im 36 started watching when i was a kid with my grandma and still watch every evening. I love going to mount airy it's about an hour from me here in Nc and we go there alot
Adam, did you know that sherrif Andrew Taylor was a real person in Mt.airy. He was known for not carrying a gun.
Way cool
also instead of mt pilot there is a pilot mountain
So many heartfelt memories, it’s like visiting long lost friends ... ❤️
That really was a wonderful show!! Pretty neat to spend the night where Andy lived with his parents!!
I’m almost 68 years old and I’ve been watching Andy of Mayberry for years. I still watch him every day and weekend on MeTV
So awesome that even the town recognizes their little place in TV nostalgia!! Great episode . Love the content!!
I live 4 hrs south of this area and visited these places, though, I didn't stay at Andy's house. Also walked Pilot Mountain(Mt. Pilot) nearby. Great vlog...Loaded Goat was one of the best episodes.
Perhaps someday Adam will sign the guest book when spending the night in his old van.
I never had a dad but i did c pics of him & he looked like Andy so as a child I pretended Andy was my dad as I watched his TV 📺 shows in black & white. Recalling that just made me laugh thanks 4 the tour. GOD bless u 💋.
I was told Don knots called Andy Griffin and suggested he would need a deputy on the show. So Don got the part as Barney.
Dear Fan of Lake Speed...
Please get it right. His Last Name is NOT GriffIN!! IT IS GriffITH!! HIS LAST NAME ENDS WITH TH. For GRIFFITH.
THANK YOU!
Wow , how fantastic was this? Thank you Adam The Woo for taking us on your incredible journies. For those people who are a big fan of the show, I am one, this was a joy to watch.
I love ❤️ this show and I’m
from North Carolina!
One of my favorite shows, I have the entire series
I would live to see Ron visit this place. All the things he would talk about..
"No Mask..No Ride..NIP IT!" That's awesome! The AGS has always been one of my all-time favorites and I really enjoyed this trip. Making a trip there is now on my must do list. Thanks Adam🖖
Yes, keep celebrating tyranny.
mask required to ride in a car lol not really tyranny but stupid
There’s a new sheriff in Mayberry! That was so awesome buddy
How cool !!!!! Loved Andy, Barney, Aunt Bea, Opie and the others!!!
$175 for a night at Andy's house is less than I would've expected. Good deal, IMO.
I was surprised too! That is a very reasonable price
A good list is there a waiting list
Holy cow! For real!? What a steal! I might have to surprise my Dad with that for Christmas or his birthday!
@@comedicsketches Your statement is inaccurate. There are approximately 60 million people still alive today that were kids and teens when the show aired new episodes. The program has NEVER been off the air, as afternoon reruns began half-way through the program's life span and continue to this day. I know kids and younger adults who watch it even today. It's airs four times a day where I live. So it's still very, very well known. Have a great day!
@@comedicsketches Who said nobody is staying in the house? It's rented out by Hampton Inn Hotels. They wouldn't mess with it, if it had little to no demand.
Thank you for taking time to go through the details of the town and house! I loved imagining Andy living there with his parents. Great video!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! The actress Betty Lynn who played Thelma Lou actually lives in a retirement home in Mount Airy. Although it has been cancelled for the rest of the year, she usually does a meet and greet on the third Friday of each month at the museum! She is one of the last surviving cast members and just turned 94 in August!
Oh my, that's so sweet.
I come from a town like Mayberry and my grandfather was the chief of police to about 500 people. I loved the show and miss it dearly. Thank you for this
Thomasville, NC girl here and I'm the Andy Griffith show's biggest fan. Thank you Adam the Woo for sharing all of these great memories with us. I would also love for you to visit the USS NC Battleship in Wilmington, NC some day. Much love and prayers to you Adam the Woo!! 💕🙏💕
When you showed the Snappy Lunch menu, I thought it was an historic piece. Those prices are so low!!! 1970's prices!!!! Thanks for the tour!!
great vlog, i really loved watching Andy Griffth Shows, thanks for the ride, it was fun
This is like sacred walking through Andy Griffith's real life home where he grew up at. You said his parents left in '66, where did they go? Guess I can Google it. You doing a tour of this home brought back memories of my own childhood. Unfortunately both the homes are no longer around due to horrible fires. But the memories still lives on. Thanks so much for the tour. Enj♥️y your tours. 😍😘🎈
So cool even though it was really filmed in SoCal. We’re related to Hal Smith (the actor who played Otis)! We still enjoy the b/w reruns and your visit to “Mayberry”. What fun 🤩
I always liked Andy Griffith show.
I’m 23 and love The Andy Griffith show and I find it very entertaining to watch and it’s one of the best shows in tv history. Love the vlog!
The actress that played Thelma Lou is still live and lives there. Before Covid she came out once a month to sign autographs
I need to take my dad there one day to that town and house. It is his favorite show of all time.
I loved those innocent days, with The Andy Griffith Show, and also, The Leave It To Beaver Show! I never missed either one of their Episodes ever!!!
